Lesson Plan in Science and Health III Date: June 4, 2012 Day: Monday I. Objective: Identify the sense organs and their functions. II. Subject matter: Sense Organs and their functions A. BEC PELC I.1.1 p.6 Science and Health pp.3-4 Growing with Science and Health pp.1-5 Science for Everyone pp.1-8 B. Concept: The eyes are the sense organs for seeing, the ears for hearing, the nose for smelling, the tongue for tasting, and the skin for feeling / touching. C. Processes: Identifying, Observing, Experimenting D. Materials: Alcohol, flowers, small stones, salt and different kinds of fruits. E. Values: Caring for the sense organs III. Procedure: A. Preparatory Activities: 1. Motivation: Reciting the poem, "Five Sense Organs" Ask: What are the five sense organs of our body? 2. Unlocking of difficulties: Pointing the five sense organs. B. Developmental Activities: 1. Activity: a. Perform the activity by group. Group I - Look around and list down the things that you can see. Describe their shapes, sizes, and colors.

Group II - Close your eyes. Listen to the different sounds you hear. List them down. Group III- Get a piece of cotton. Wet it with alcohol and smell it. Do you like the smell? What sense organs did you use? Group IV- Touch your skin with a pin. Does it hurt you? What sense organ is use when you feel the pain? Group V - Taste the sugar/salt. How does it taste? What sense organs is used? b. Reporting by group 2. Analysis: What sense organ did you use when you see the things around you? What is our sense organ for seeing? When you hear different sounds,what sense organs do we use? What is the sense organs for hearing? tasting? smelling? touching/feeling? Are our sense organs important to us? Why? How can you take care of your sense organs? 3. Abstraction: a. What are the five sense organs and their functions? b. Singing a science song about five sense organs and their functions to the tune of "Leron-LeronSinta" 4. Application: a. Your science class had a field trip. You enjoyed so much because of the things you saw, the food you ate, and the activities you have done. Do your senses contribute to this kind of feeling you had? How? b.
