Acceptable Use Policy
This document will inform, both, teachers and students of the acceptable behavior
he/she can engage in when accessing/utilizing the schools Internet and computers.
By signing this document, you are acknowledging that you have had enough
instruction on proper technology usage and that you fully understand the
school/classrooms policy. You agree to use technology effectively, appropriately, and responsibly
at ALL times. The teacher will describe what acceptable use will look like shortly. Please be
aware that there are consequences for misusing the schools technology. Below you will find
some Dos and Donts.
I will (Acceptable):
Use computers and Internet for educational purposes (creating a presentation, composing a paper,
or researching a particular topic)
Access websites that are assigned by the teacher
Sign into accounts that are assigned to me
Keep my password and usernames to learning sites such as Success Maker and First in Math
private
Only download content that has been approved or assigned by the teacher
Use ONLY school-approved accessories (this includes obtaining permission to utilize personal
headphones, flash drives CD-ROMs etc.)
I will request the teachers permission to access gaming sites even if they are educationally based.
I will not (Unacceptable):
Download pictures, music, or songs from other peoples websites without written permission
Eat, drink, or horseplay near the classrooms designated computer areas
Access social media sites without the permission of the teacher; this includes YouTube, Facebook,
Twitter, and Instagram
Utilize the webcams to capture or store unauthorized videos and pictures of myself or friends on
the computer
Share my or anyone elses personal information online (this includes signing up for websites that
have not been authorized by teacher)
Consequences for Unacceptable use:
1st strikeLoss of computer privileges for remainder of the day
2nd strikeLunch or Afterschool detention plus loss of privileges for the day
3rd strikeLetter goes home to parent/student loses privileges for week
