Graphing Calculator
Graphing Calculator:
This year we will be teaching based on the Arizona College & Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS) that
will cover the use of a graphing calculator. While a graphing calculator is not required it is highly
recommended that students will have a calculator in the TI-83 or TI-84 family. My personal
recommendation for a calculator is the TI-84 Plus C. A graphing calculator is a great investment as this
one calculator will sever the needs of your students throughout high school and beyond. By having
access to a graphing calculator at home students will become more comfortable with its features and be
able to better support their education. When purchasing a graphing calculator pleas save the TI points
and submit them to a math teacher as we can use them to help purchase classroom supplies.
GRADING:
Grading Scale:
A
90% - 100%
B
80% - 89.9%
C
70% - 79.9%
D
60% - 69.9%
F

Grading Components:
5% Daily Warm-Ups
20% Assignments
55% Exams, Quizzes & Projects
20% Semester Final Exam

Homework:
Homework is a completion grade. This means that if a student completes or attempts every problem on
the homework and turn it in on time, they will receive full credit for the assignment. If a students doesnt
understand the problem they may write 2 sentences about the problem to how they did not understand
the question and will still receive full credit for the assignment. All work must be shown to be
considered complete. All work is due the following day, at the beginning of class, unless otherwise
stated. It the homework is completed a stamp will be placed in the upper right corner of the assignment.
If an assignment does not receive a stamp, students will have until the end of the unit to complete the
assignment for partial credit.

Absences:
If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to pick up any missing work and make up any missed
text/quiz in the absence time frame. Students will have one day to make-up work or tests for each day
absent. (Review days are excused).
Tutoring:
Tutoring will be offered during the 2nd half of lunch by various math teachers. Students many also
receive tutoring by appointment before and after school.
Extra Credit:
Extra credit will only be offered by the teacher at times where it naturally presents itself throughout the
course. Extra credit will only be given to enhance the learning process. Students should take advantage
of any extra credit opportunities as they arise in class.
Classroom Policies:
All school wise and departmental policies and procedures will be followed in our classroom including
dress code, bullying, tardy, food, and technology.
Tardy Policy:
A student is considered tardy if they are not in the classroom by the time the bell rights and headed
towards their assigned seat.
Consequences:
1st & 2nd tardy: verbal warning
3rd & 4th tardy: parent contact
5th tardy: referral to Administration
Electronics:
Electronics should remain unseen and unheard unless given permission by the teacher.
Consequences:
1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: picked up in the office at the end of the school day.
Successful Students:
Are Focused
Actively Participate
Set obtainable goals

Self-evaluate and abject

Strive for constant improvement
Are respectful
