The Ant and the Dove Play Script


Characters : Ant, Dove, Hunter
Setting : Place - In a forest
Props : Bow, Arrow
One day, a thirsty ant goes to the river to drink some water. A strong wind suddenly
makes a wave that pulls the ant into the river. The poor ant struggles in the water. He
thinks he would surely die.
Ant : Help! Help! Anyone please help e! (A dove sitting on a tree nearby sees the
drowning ant).
Dove : !h no! "he little Ant is in trou#le! I ust help hi$
Ant : Help! Help! Anyone please help e! (The ant cries for help).
Dove : Don%t worry, ant! I will help you$ (She qickly plcks a leaf and lets it fall onto the
water close to the ant).
Ant : Help! Help! Help! &Struggling in the water'
Dove : Hurry little Ant, cli# onto the leaf! (The ant cli!bs onto the leaf and it carries hi!
safely to the river bank).
Ant : "han( you, y frien)$ I will help you one )ay, too$ "han( you so uch$
Dove : *ou are welcoe Ant$
A few days later, a hunter comes into the forest to look for birds.
Hunter : +hat a lovely )ay$ I a sure I will catch any #ir)s to)ay$ ("nter walks throgh the
forest).
Hunter : I can hear the soun)s of #ir)s$ I cannot wait to catch soe #ir)s for )inner$ Aha, I see a
lovely )ove$
Dove : +hat a lovely weather$ It is a lovely )ay for e to sing$ ,alalala- (The dove sings
happily on the tree).
Hunter : She )oes not sense that I. here$ I will surely catch her! (The hnter whispers to
hi!self withot reali#ing the ant is walking ne$t to hi!).
Ant : !h no, y frien), Dove is in )anger! "he hunter is going to catch her$ I ust save her$
Hunter : /et rea)y little white #ir)$ *ou will #e y )inner tonight$ I cannot wait$ (The !an raises
his bow and ai!s an arrow right at the dove).
