Pataki of Obatal and Iku

Obatala had become disillusioned by his children's disobedience and called upon Iku to remove them from existence. As Iku began consuming Obatala's children, Obatala regretted his actions and asked Orunmila for a solution. Orunmila told Obatala to use the iwereyeye plant, which holds virtues of Shango and Oya, to cleanse his children of negativity. Obatala hid his children under the iwereyeye plants so that when Iku passed by, he did not see them.

Pataki of "The pact Between Obatala and Iku " Obatala had many children on the earth and

d with each passing day in his kingdom he became disillusioned and bewildred by the disobidence of his children. He had thought long and hard and debated in his mind what course of action he would take . after much greif and bereavement he came to the conclusion to call upon IKU to remove his children from this plain of existence and end the creation of mankind. Obatala called out "Baba Iku fo lona afefe Iku, afefe lona baba iku fo lona" Iku came riding upon the breeze and began to consume Obatalas children. Their cries rang out and Obatala was moved again , overcome with regreat and remorse for his children. Obatala ran to the home of Orunmila and and asked for ebo. Orunmila divided for Obatala and and he explained "You must find the plant or Iwereyeye that holds the cardinal virtue of Shango and Oya so that you might clean your children of all negativity . Obatala took his children and hid them under the Iwereyeye plants and when the breeze came carrying IKU he passed over them and did not see them hiding underneath . and Obatala began to sing again Iwereyeye, obori baba Obatala , Takasbo me melo eni ki lo lashe, Olofin oba ewe esalaye.... and this is how Obatala saved his children ....
