Instructions Objective(s) Criteria: By the end of the lesson students will describe the actions of Rosa Parks values of American Democracy. 4. Assessment(s) of the objectives: 1. A Question and Answer asking students if they know who Rosa Parks is. 2. The students participation in the discussions, making simple choices. 3. The students written description on their buses about Rosa Parks. 5. Materials/Resources: Construction Paper Glue Pencils
6. Prerequisites (Prior Knowledge): The students will need to be able to work well and collaborate with the teacher and other students 7. Procedures: 1. We will gather as a class on the carpet and I will explain to the students that we are going to be learning about a famous person that helped America become what it is today, Rosa Parks. I will ask the students if they know anything or ever heard of Rosa Parks. We will then read the book 2. Once we have finished reading the book we will discuss some of the key details out of it. As we talk about them I will write them down on the poster board. When we have finished our discussion I will tell the students that we are going to be making our own buses and on them we are going to write one sentence about Rosa Parks. I will tell them that they may use any detail that we have already written on our poster board.
3. We will then get into small groups of five students and we will then make our buses. As we are making our buses I will ask the students what detail they want to write about on their bus. Once everyone has completed their bus, at the end of the day we will have to time for students to share what they wrote about Rosa Parks. 8. Accommodations: The teacher will wear the microphone while giving the lesson so that the student with hearing impairments will be able to hear and understand what is expected of him. 9. References:
