CFL Beginner I Class Final Review May 2012

Lee Lao Shis Words: Dear Parents, For Beginner I and II classes, we dont formally have final examination for the students. However, as a teacher, I still want make sure the students in deed learned something and ready to move on. So I decided that I wont teach any new materials instead I would like review with the students what they learned so far to help them master as much as they could. I dont want them to be a monkey in a corn fields. My goal is to help them as much as I could. Hope we can cooperate on this matter. Please help review with your child at home. By checking homework, I observed some of kids never touch Chinese materials at home after class. At same time, I observed that some parents even learned better than kids, which is good anyway. I will go over all the reviews in the class. Thank you and keep up. 1. Listening comprehension Simple sentences (I will say in Chinese and the students will write down in English based on what he/she heard and understands. )

A student will be required to read 2 out of 21 books and read the books as clear and smooth as he/she could. 3. Speaking Choose one from five topics below and write down and practice at home ( pick a# at school): a My family: ( your speaking should cover: your name, age and
nationality how many people, who are they and their name, if you have pet at home, its name, you love each of your family members)

b My school: (your speaking should cover: your name, age and


nationality, what time you go to school, what do you like to do at the school, who are your friends at the school, their name, age and nationality, what your friends like to do at school, are you happy at school, say Hello to principle )

c Go shopping with mom: (your speaking should cover: your name, age
and nationality, you put on clothing and shoes and go shopping with mom by car, you want buy what fruits and drinks and your mom want buy different things, you feel hungry and want eat something, you dont know what one item is and ask mom, she tells you what it is)

d My hobby (your speaking should cover: your name, age and nationality,
some color pencils in your back bag because you like to draw, you draw (color)balloon,(color) flowers, friends, you like to read, you like sport event because you like running etc )

f Conversation with grandparents (your voice can be two tones to represent different role)
(your speaking should cover: your name, age and nationality, grandpa asked me whose gloves ( pants, shoes etc) is it? I said it is not mine, grandma asked me whose note (easer, scissors etc), I said it is mine, they asked me what time my school opens, eight oclock in the mornig, they say no nine oclock in the evening, I should go to bed, I love them and they put my school supplies into my back bag. ) 4. Songs and poems learned as extra: (choose one as your talent show) Hello/ goodbye / I love my family/ Put on clothing/ What is that/this Number/Rainbow Color /Name-Age-Nationality/Time / What is inside/When school open/looking for a friend etc. (some holiday songs, if you remember, you can choose too) Poems: Little friends touch/Little friends movement/April shower, May flower/ What is inside san dune?/ Morning, noon and night ( many more if you remember, you can choose)
