Jennifer H. Cunningham is an award-winning investigative journalist, editor and newsroom leader. Cunningham is a versatile media executive, and has spent nearly 20 years writing, reporting, editing, and skillfully managing teams in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of news. Her mastery lies in implementing content strategies and comprehensive news visions while managing the daily demands of breaking news.

Most recently, Cunningham was the Editor-in-Chief of the News Division at Business Insider, overseeing bureaus in the United States, United Kingdom, and Singapore. Under Cunningham's leadership, the newsroom won its first Pulitzer Prize, for in 2022.

Cunningham's ability to attract, retain, and develop a diverse talent network is remarkable, and her collaborative spirit shines through in her work across different teams. Her deep experience in using data and analytics in news coverage decisions has helped set new standards for the industry.

The married mom of one began her career in journalism as a municipal reporter for her hometown papers, the Herald News and the Bergen Record, before working her way up to general assignment reporting for the New York Daily News, where she covered crime, national news and entertainment.

After spending about a decade as a reporter, Cunningham decided to step into the editing realm. She became senior editor of exclusive news and investigative reporting at Interactive One, working with a small team to cover the intersection of celebrity, entertainment and the legal system. She later joined Business Insider as Executive Editor during the height of the pandemic, overseeing an 80 person plus newsroom, and was promoted to Editor in Chief in 2022.

Cunningham's own reportage has appeared in the New York Daily News, iOne, Cheddar TV, amNew York, Essence Magazine and The Bergen Record Newspaper. She's covered historic events like the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting, Hurricane Sandy in New York City and New Jersey, and both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Her coverage of Whitney Houston's death won an award from the New York Association of Black Journalists.

In her spare time, Cunningham volunteers with the Newswomen's Club of New York – the nation's oldest nonprofit advocacy group for women in the newsroom – where she is the immediate past president.
