The Montana Master Hunter Program is an advanced hunter education program delivered by the nonprofit One Montana.

Application Process

Interested in becoming a Master Hunter? The application period for 2025 courses is Oct. 1 through Nov. 30th.

In 2025, we’ll have three course locations to choose from - Billings, Bozeman, and Missoula. Each class is limited to 30 hunters. Participants are required to attend all classes and to attend a two-day weekend rendezvous in June for shooting qualifications, field exercises, and the final exam.

The cost of the program is $675 per participant.  The course is valued at more than $3,200 per person. We ask our generous sponsors and donors to cover the remainder of the costs to make the program more accessible to more people.

Course fees cover: 1.5 days shooting and ballistics instruction, in-person class expenses, online programming, and the final rendezvous weekend.

Scholarships: Need-based Scholarships are available for all applicants. Applicants must complete two applications – the program application and the scholarship application. See below for instructions.

What our Graduates are saying!

Last night, I left Jack Creek with a full heart. I wanted to thank and commend One Montana for organizing such a positive experience and wonderful course. Everyone you recruited, from the presenters to the participants, was exceptional. Their commitment to the program speaks volumes to the vision you have created for the state’s sportsmen and landowning communities, and to your leadership. I am very proud to have taken part and so look forward to helping promote the program in any way I am able!
— Gusty Clarke, MHP 2018 Graduate
