Informed by the knowledge and experience of Morrison Foerster’s highly regarded National Security Team, led by co-chairs John Smith and Brandon Van Grack, our Sanctions Resource Center is here to provide comprehensive perspectives and strategic insights on the global sanctions landscape. One of our greatest strengths is our global platform, with members of our National Security practice situated in the United States, the EU, the UK, and Asia.

MoFo’s National Security team provides strategic advice and counseling to clients on a broad range of regulatory, compliance, investigatory, and enforcement matters. The U.S. government’s enforcement and regulatory efforts in the national security space continue to expand and overlap, and thus navigating the national security landscape increasingly requires expertise across multiple disciplines. The U.S. economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) present a special challenge for U.S. and global companies, particularly those operating internationally that may engage in transactions with U.S.sanctioned parties and jurisdictions. Sanctions regimes and blocking laws imposed by, for example, the European Union, United Kingdom, and People’s Republic of China render the compliance requirements for global businesses even more complex.

We are ready to assist when new sanctions are imposed, as we are seeing in real-time given the continuing Russian aggression against Ukraine. We are also constantly monitoring issues and developments across sanctions programs covering China, Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, Belarus, Burma, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela, and North Korea, among others.

We have a strategically located team in seven countries across three continents to provide real-time and seamless advice and assistance. We have extensive experience with economic sanctions in the U.S., EU, UK, and Asia, and deep professional relationships with government and private sector colleagues, all of which allow us to be more insightful and efficient in serving your needs.
