October 11th, 2024

This page will be updated throughout the offseason. A reminder that players that are on the 60-day injured list will have to be added back onto the 40-man roster after the World Series.

60-DAY INJURED LIST

LHP (left forearm flexor strain)
Expected return:
2025
Garrett, who received a second opinion on his arm, was diagnosed with a left elbow impingement. He is proceeding with a throwing progression at the Marlins' player development complex in Jupiter, Fla. The expectation is that Garrett will be ready for the start of Spring Training if all goes well with the program.

Before Garrett felt something in the back of his elbow after his bullpen session on Sept. 21, there was a possibility he would be reinstated on Sept. 22 to start the 2024 home finale, but that setback during his rehab assignment ended his chances to return.

Garrett was placed on the IL on June 23 after he was scratched from his scheduled start. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 30. (Last updated: Oct. 11)

LHP (lumbar stress reaction)
Expected return: 2025
Luzardo has progressed to rotational activities and running. He was placed on the 15-day IL on June 22 before being transferred to the 60-day IL on June 23. Luzardo was scratched from his June 22 start after dealing with a back issue for a couple of weeks. (Last updated: Sept. 24)

RHP (right UCL tear)
Expected return:
2025
Pérez, who reached a recovery milestone by making nine throws while playing catch from 45 feet on Sept. 17, is playing catch. Pérez opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25). He had Tommy John surgery on April 8 after experiencing soreness in his bullpen session on April 2. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 4. (Last updated: Sept. 24)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Alcantara is completing workouts only, beginning his offseason training. He threw 20 pitches of live batting practice on Sept. 17 in Miami. Alcantara threw his first bullpen session on July 24, getting in 20 pitches.

Alcantara initially felt discomfort in his arm on his 94th and final pitch on Sept. 3, 2023, against the Nationals. He was diagnosed with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI exam later revealed a right UCL sprain. Alcantara underwent Tommy John surgery on Oct. 6, 2023. (Last updated: Sept. 24)

LHP (left elbow muscle injury)
Expected return: 2025
According to Nardi, he was transferred to the 60-day IL on Sept. 7 mainly because he wouldn't have had enough time to build back that late in the season. The Marlins cleared a spot on the 40-man roster with the move. Nardi first landed on the IL on Aug. 24 (retroactive to Aug. 22). (Last updated: Sept. 7)

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: 2025
Sánchez threw live batting practice on Sept. 24 in Jupiter, Fla., after making a rehab appearance on Sept. 21 for Triple-A Jacksonville. He had tossed a scoreless inning on 19 pitches (12 strikes), striking out a batter and not allowing a baserunner. After experiencing a big dip in velocity in his May 31 start vs. Texas, Sánchez was placed on the IL on June 2 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 25. He has had a history of major shoulder problems, including two surgeries that caused him to miss three big league seasons from 2021-23. (Last updated: Sept. 24)
