  • In a room full of books, I look for... the Interinstitutional Style Guide! The Interinstitutional Style Guide is the common reference used across all EU institutions to ensure that communication is consistent, accurate and accessible in all 24 official languages. It defines how terminology is used, how information is structured and how linguistic conventions are applied - from legislative texts to public communication. This consistency also matters for citizens! Clear and reliable communication strengthens transparency and ensures that everyone can easily understand information. Citizens, students, journalists and professionals can consult it to check: • The correct spelling of countries, capitals and geographic names • Official titles of EU institutions, bodies and agencies • Preferred terminology for EU policies, legal concepts and technical fields • Conventions for dates, numbers, currencies and measurements • Standardised forms of frequently used expressions Take a look at the Interinstitutional Style Guide now! https://lnkd.in/dpUUD_RD

  • Did you know that the European Protection Order (EPO) helps ensure that victims of gender-based and other serious violence remain protected when they travel or move across EU Member States? If a person has a protection measure in a EU Member State, the EPO allows that protection to follow them, safeguarding their life, dignity, liberty, and physical, psychological or sexual integrity. This cross-border mechanism works alongside Regulation (EU) No 606/2013, enabling protection orders to be recognised between Member States. Why it matters: 🤝 The EPO is often vital in cases of domestic violence, harassment or stalking 🤝 Judicial authorities and support services cooperate to make sure victims continue to feel safe and supported 🤝 Yet awareness of the EPO remains limited, meaning many who could benefit don’t know it exists. As mobility across Europe grows, so does the need to ensure that safety moves with people. Read more on https://lnkd.in/ecZqTG5c

  • We're just back from the European Big Data Value Forum in Copenhagen! Our colleague Inmaculada Farfán Velasco was there to deliver a keynote. See her post about it. 👏 Thanks to the BDVA - Big Data Value Association and partners for organising this important annual event! #EBDVF25 🫂

View profile for Inmaculada Farfán Velasco

Project Manager | Supporting the implementation of European data policies | Building up a single market of data | Open data | European Commission (Publications Office of the European Union)

✨ Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking at #EBDVF25 where I shared how open data acts as a key enabler for innovation and AI development — and how the European Data Portal serves as a central hub to access data, knowledge and insights across Europe. 🎤 It’s not every day you get the opportunity to address such a vibrant, data-driven community. I used the occasion to highlight something essential: we need more successful reuse cases of our datasets. Connecting data supply with real data reuse is crucial if we want to fully unlock the value of data for our society and economy. I look forward to finding some successful stories from my presentation! 💡 These three days have been packed with inspiring presentations and meaningful exchanges with organisations pushing the boundaries of data innovation. Collaboration and finding synergies were truly at the heart of every discussion. 🙏 🙏 A big thank you to Sinna Rissanen and Ana Garcia Robles for inviting me once again and for creating such a stimulating space for the European data community. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and building new bridges!
