We are better together – just ask Germany! #OnThisDay 35 years ago, a divided nation was reunited 🇩🇪 After 41 years apart, West and East Germany came together on 3 October 1990 to form one Federal Republic. This defining moment in history marked not only a new chapter for German society, but also a crucial turning point for European integration. During these 41 years, the European Parliament expressed support for Germany’s struggle for reunification and self-determination and in 1977 urged East German authorities to allow East Germans to reunite with their families in the West. In honour of this historic moment, let’s remember that Europe’s future is that which Europeans dare to dream of.

🇺🇦 Justice. Security. EU membership. These are Parliament’s priorities for peace in Ukraine. Despite the war, Ukraine continues its remarkable progress in strengthening democracy and has advanced rule of law and anti-corruption reforms, MEPs stated in a resolution adopted last Tuesday. They urge the European Commission to move forward with accession talks as soon as possible while reforms remain deep, durable, and free from political interference. Parliament calls on: Ukraine’s authorities - to safeguard judicial independence, uphold political pluralism, and anchor reforms in transparency. EU countries - to provide financial, technical, and political support to speed up Ukraine’s path to membership. Ukraine’s future is in the EU.
