Brett Gorvy is a leading authority in the twentieth- and twenty-first-century art markets. With an expansive career as Chairman and International Head of Post War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s and co-founder of the innovative postwar gallery Lévy Gorvy, Gorvy is renowned for his auction expertise, depth of knowledge, and passionate advocacy for great works of art. Gorvy has built collections, curated exhibitions, and provided works for auction platforms that have shaped the art market and art history, overseeing the buying and selling of masterworks while cultivating widespread artistic appreciation.
Gorvy is recognized as an expert on the work of Joan Mitchell, Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lucian Freud, Alberto Giacometti, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Cy Twombly, and Andy Warhol, as well as a younger generation of artists including Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, and Richard Prince.
