2025 Apple Design Awards: Meet the Winners, Including One from Canada

Apple has announced the winners and finalists of the 2025 Apple Design Awards ahead of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC25), spotlighting 12 outstanding apps and games across six categories: Delight and Fun, Innovation, Interaction, Inclusivity, Social Impact, and Visuals and Graphics.
The 12 winners are below–and it includes a Canadian winner. Popular card game Balatro, by developer LocalThunk has claimed a big award here, adding to its accolades:
- Delight and Fun: CapWords (China), a playful language-learning app, and Balatro (Canada), a poker-inspired roguelike card game.
- Innovation: Play (U.S.), a SwiftUI prototyping tool, and PBJ — The Musical (Germany), a condiment-themed rhythm game retelling Romeo and Juliet.
- Interaction: Taobao (China) on Vision Pro and DREDGE (New Zealand), a moody fishing adventure game.
- Inclusivity: Speechify (U.S.), a text-to-speech tool for all learners, and Art of Fauna (Austria), a vintage-style puzzle game with accessibility in mind.
- Social Impact: Watch Duty (U.S.), a wildfire tracking app, and Neva (U.S.), a visually rich game exploring environmental themes.
- Visuals and Graphics: Feather (South Korea), a 3D drawing tool, and Infinity Nikki (Singapore), a fantasy fashion adventure game.
“Developers continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible, creating apps and games that are not only beautifully designed but also deeply impactful,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, in a statement on Tuesday. “We’re excited to celebrate this incredible group of winners and finalists at WWDC and spotlight the innovation and craftsmanship they bring to each experience.”
Speechify’s Founder & CEO, Cliff Weitzman, said in a statement to iPhone in Canada, “This recognition from Apple means the world to us,” said Weitzman. “Over a billion people on this planet have dyslexia, ADHD, or another learning difference. Our mission is to make sure reading is never a barrier to learning – no matter who you are, where you live, or how you learn.”
Each category included one winning app and one winning game, selected from 36 global finalists. Winners were recognized for pushing creative and technical boundaries through thoughtful design and innovative use of Apple technologies. Which one of these apps are your favourite?
