Why does the Film Chicken Out in the Final Moments?

&quot;Age of Sail&quot; is an American short film from 2018 directed b John Kahrs and he is also part of the writing trio working on this one. 3 people quite a lotg for such a brief movie as it runs for 12 minutes approximately. Kahrs already has an oscar for his work on Paperman and a second one for this one here would be a big surprise. But a nomination seems possible as this one made the extended list of 9 potential nominees. We will see. I think this is nowhere near the level of the brilliant Paperman though, but it is an okay film. Very close call for me between a positive and negative recommendation, but as a whole I think the good outlasts the weak. The two key characters are pretty interesting in my opinion, the way they meet, their conversations and discussions and arguments and eventually their battle for survival, even if the happy ending feels a bit forced and the film ends really abrupt if we ignore the solid epilogue eventually. Now I still think story-wise, this film was rather underwhelming, could have been better for sure given the talent involved here with a better script. I don&#39;t known maybe sailors will appreciate this film more than anybody, or fathers can watch it with their daughters. The animation is good. It feels somewhat unique and I got quicker to like it than expected, even if there were one or two weaker moments in that department too. Overall, a good watch, voice work by Ian McShane and Kathy Ang is good enough too. Go see it if you like animation.

Age of Sail

Well, the story is very simple. Nothing special. Nevertheless, this movie is PRIMA GUT!!
Amazing scenes and wonderful music make this movie to say: Ahoy! This is sailling!

You simply cannot tease something is going to happen, actually go through it (with sad music and everything), and then go back on it. Why does this film do this? I was feeling some slight emotion, but the film did not have the balls to go through with what it was trying to do. Grrrr.
