Ron's tattoo "1804" is a reference to the year Haiti won its independence from France, making it the only nation of slaves to win its freedom by military means.
Edi Gathegi at first declined the role of Ronald Dacey thinking it would only be a recurring character. Adam Brody went to see him and convinced him to take on the role.
