Crossing the boundary between show and audience flawlessly. Reminiscent of The Office format, but more cleverly produced and in the realm of podcasts. And I'm not just saying that because of Rainn Wilson. His acting is what makes the show land how it's intended. He is a genius performer that really makes the script come alive. Idk who wrote the script (sorry writers) but their sense of humor is great. Loving this.

Love the show!! In response to another reviewer about there being too many ads. The show is free to listen to. For the show to continue and for the actors to get paid for their hilarity it needs revenue.
Just adore this podcast. Really hope there's a second season as we approach the end of the first.
I wanted to also offer a different opinion re the ads. Normally I hate them but I find them absolutely fine on this occasion. Many are woven into the narrative as obvious product placements but work nicely within the overall silliness and general anarchy of the show.

It's mixes a nice mystery along with comedy. This is a perfect mix. Terry carnation is the best. But, this wouldn't have happened without radio rental. So we shall acknowledge that show as well. They are both great and they are both must watches.

The ads are part of the experience, like old radio shows. They are incorporated into the show and it is in a format you will enjoy as "part"
of the show. The previous review lacks basic context to explain how the ads are placed within the show. Unlike other podcasts there are no ad breaks which take you out of the show for 30 seconds and then drop you back in where you left off. Instead they are often used as jokes, bits, and even plot devices. If you are worried about "intrusive ads" I recommend you give the show a listen anyway as the ads here can be comical.
DARK AIR with TERRY CARNATION (2021 - ) was a really great podcast, with a little bit of everything (Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Horror, and Fantasy). And of course, Rainn Wilson (Radio Rental, The Office) as the narrator called Terry Carnation, is great as usual.
"Fictional podcast that explores the on and off-air life of Terry Carnation, (voiced by Rainn Wilson) host of a late-night, AM radio talk show on the paranormal."
Overall, this was a very interesting podcast, connected to the equally brilliant Radio Rental podcast series. This series is great for fans of Radio Rental and fascinating fictional podcasts. Hoping for more in the series!

Really enjoying this but there are way too many sponsor adverts! It's almost after every segment there's yet another product plug or advert.

As a fan of coast to coast and someone who gets a gets a chuckle from the train wreck that is Alex Jones, I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately the jokes come across as someone who hasn't really listened to either of its main sources of inspiration. This is more like someone who thinks they know what would have gone on in those radio shows and trying to make fun of them. I wouldn't say any of it is mean spirited, just not very clever.
It's basically mild cringe humor peppered with jokes that are predictable or not very clever. Maybe it will find it's feet, but I doubt it. I just didn't feel much chemistry in the show.

A funny and well-written show (the Alex Jones parody is particularly good), but the immersion is constantly ruined by the adverts. A real pity and something that the Ron Burgundy podcast did much better...
