“In 2016, I came to Viacom to run Communications for Logo and VH1 joining a small but mighty group who consistently outpunched their weight,” Fefferman wrote in a memo to staff. “Nearly a decade later, our remit has substantially grown but that same hustle, impeccable work ethic and results-oriented commitment, remain steadfast.”

Paramount TV Studios Reborn Under Skydance, One Year After Shutting Down
Image
A year ago, Paramount Television Studios was shuttered in a cost-cutting move as its parent company prepared to merge with Skydance.

With that deal on the verge of closing, the new Paramount is reviving the Paramount TV Studios name — which will in turn absorb one of the company’s two remaining studio operations as well as the formerly independent Skydance Television.

Skydance TV president Matt Thunell is set to lead Paramount TV Studios, reporting to Dana Goldberg, the newly named co-chair of Paramount Pictures (with Josh Greenstein) and chair of Paramount Television.

Reps for Skydance and Paramount hadn’t returned a request for comment as of publication time.

The reconstituted Paramount TV Studios will house productions currently under Showtime/MTV Entertainment, the home of prolific creator Taylor Sheridan (the Yellowstone-verse, Landman et al), key Showtime series like the Dexter franchise and Yellowjackets, and Netflix’s Emily in Paris, among others.

One Of The Best Horror-Comedy Sequel Shows Is Regaining On Streaming Charts
Image
Thriving both theatrically and on the small screen, the 2020s has been the age of horror. The past five years have seen horror succeeding on every front, as each new release draws hordes of viewers. Even as more shows are canceled without warning and more movies struggle at the box office, horror has endured.

M3GAN (2022), Smile (2022), MaXXXine (2024), and Sinners (2025) all managed to find success in theaters, despite lacking the backing of established brands or adaptational material, and they have also endured on streaming platforms. Franchise-backed productions, including Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023), Alien: Romulus (2024), and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) have also seen immense success.

Horror has also succeeded on the TV front, as Stranger Things, The Last of Us, and The Walking Dead have each found considerable success over the past decade. Now, another popular horror-comedy franchise is seeing a resurgence in popularity, and it comes on the tail end of a disappointing failure.

The 15 Best TV Shows On Showtime Right Now
Image
Paramount has been in the news a fair bit recently, for good reasons and, mostly, bad (for nerds who like boring stuff like free speech and political independence or whatever). But uh ... they did put a lot of Showtime content on Paramount+. That kinda makes up for it all, right?

The concerning and confounding decisions of the network's parent company aside, Showtime has long been the under-sung hero of prestige TV and the golden age of television at large. Would there be any shows with psychopathic, murderous protagonists without the success of "Dexter?" Would the political thriller subgenre be complete without "Homeland?" And is there a family drama so perfectly and relatably balanced between humor and heartbreak as "Shameless?" Unfortunately, you can't watch everything Showtime has produced on Paramount+ as of writing -- that said, of the shows available, these are the 15 most deserving of a rewatch.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Episode 5: How Does Dexter Save Harrison?
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for 'Dexter: Resurrection' Episode 5.

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 left audiences on a cliffhanger when Dexter (Michael C. Hall) stops Harrison (Jack Alcott) from confessing to Ryan Foster’s murder. In the latest episode, we see the father-son duo reconnect and Dexter’s paternal instincts reignite. During his meeting with Harrison, Dex decides to keep Ryan Foster’s (Harrison’s victim) watch with him. What follows is a clever unfolding of him framing Mia, or Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) as Ryan’s killer.

The move was paternal love at its best, but it served another purpose for Dexter. Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5 does a wonderful job of conveniently placing Mia as Dex’s safest bet for saving Harrison. Let’s dissect how the Bay Harbor Butcher eliminated another fellow serial club member.

Dexter Eliminates Mia by Framing Her

Halfway through its run, Dexter: Resurrection has continued its prolific run of shattering expectations both in and outside the serial killer franchise. The powerhouse Showtime sequel has not only revitalized Michael C. Hall’s titular murderer, but resurrected the entire Dexter-verse. And such is the call made by its prestigious IMDb rank.

The ambitious series, which resumes the narrative from Dexter: New Blood, has stirred overwhelming audience enthusiasm. Incentivizing Hall’s awaited return as the iconic anti-hero, it has proven that resurrection can indeed resuscitate new life into something antiquated.

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5 Recap — Michael C Hall Weaponizes Toxic Ex-Turned-Stalker Trope After Murder Date Goes Wrong
Image
Here’s All That Happened On Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5 ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Spoiler Alert: The following article contains major spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5.

In the labyrinthine corridors of moral degradation that define the Dexter universe, Episode 5 of Dexter: Resurrection just excavated uncharted territories of psychological perversity. This installment, aptly named “Murder Horny,” witnessed a conflation of intimacy and annihilation converge in grotesque harmony.

As both their desperate yearning for connection manifested through the most heinous expressions of shared violence, Michael C. Hall‘s Dexter and Mia experienced a whirlwind date. Unlike the former’s previous romance with fellow serial killer Hannah McKay, this liaison proposed something far more depraved: a ménage à trois where the third participant serves not as lover, but as a sacrificial offering to feed their bloodlust.

'Dexter' Fans are Flocking to Watch the Original Series Instead of Michael C. Hall's Record-Breaking Sequel
Image
Despite positive reviews and record-breaking numbers upon release, Dexter: Resurrection hasn't turned out to be the breakout revival that Showtime would've liked. At least not yet. The series serves as a sequel to the poorly received Dexter: New Blood from a few years ago, which itself was a continuation of the original Dexter. Having premiered in 2006, the series became a key part of the Golden Age of Television, where it competed for attention with Lost, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and eventually, Game of Thrones. Dexter almost singlehandedly kept Showtime running, and its popularity needs no further proof than the numbers it's delivering now, over a decade after its conclusion. In fact, the original Dexter is outperforming Dexter: Resurrection.

According to FlixPatrol, the new show was nowhere to be found on the Paramount+ top 10 charts on July 31, whereas the original show took the number 10 spot. On August 1, however, Resurrection jumped to the number three spot,...

Dexter’s Sickest Connection Was Never Deb, It Was His Bloodiest Rival
Image
In one of Dexter’s most shocking moments, we saw Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) confess her love for her adoptive brother, played by Michael C. Hall, in Season 7. And even before that, the two shared a dysfunctional relationship. But what if we told you Dex’s most twisted connection wasn’t actually the one he shared with his sister, but his bloodiest rival: the Trinity Killer?

Yes, the same Trinity who left a bunch of murder victims in his wake, including Dexter’s wife. Dexter shared a complex relationship with Trinity, a disturbing bond, which made his clash with him more high-stakes than ever. And, John Lithgow’s cameo in Dexter: Resurrection instead of Debra’s proves exactly why he was Dexter’s creepiest connection in the original series.

MCU/Dcu News Roundup: Superman's Mr. Handsome Backstory Revealed, Jeremy Renner On Hawkeye Season 2, And More
Image
This past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con was one of the worst in recent memory for news (most studios release their trailers before the event), but there are still lots of interesting tidbits floating around for fans of the MCU and Dcu.

We'll start this roundup with a new social post from Superman director James Gunn. The horrifying Mr. Handsome—who acted as Lex Luthor's slave in his pocket universe—has intrigued fans, with some speculating that he might be a White Martian, for example.

In a post featuring several new behind-the-scenes photos, Gunn explained, "Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 - he was trying to make a human. He didn't come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the world Lex has any true sentiment for, as evidenced by the photo on his desk."

That ties into Luthor eventually creating Ultraman,...

Image
Returning (or incoming) Marvel Cinematic Universe star Krysten Ritter talks about keeping her big comeback as Jessica Jones a secret.

Speaking toDeadline, Ritter opened up about how she was able to keep her return as Jessica Jones a secret, largely thanks to another fan-favorite role. "Well, I obviously knew all of the things that were happening," Ritter said. "When I landed in New York, everybody was like, 'She's here for Daredevil.' Then it was announced that I was in Dexter, so it was a fun way to throw everybody off the track."

The actress elaborated on the Marvel return was approached. "We really wanted to preserve the Jessica Jones announcement for an event like the Upfronts," Ritter continued. "Marvel wanted to find the right time to announce so it could be celebratory and not have it leak, so it’s not something on the internet that comes and goes.

'Dexter' Star Addresses Those "Unsatisfying" Endings That Divided Fans
Image
With the Dexter renaissance in full swing thanks to the recent prequel series Original Sin and now Resurrection, the popularity of everyone's favorite vigilante serial killer has never been higher. That being said, while the franchise has never had a problem with telling great stories, it has suffered a lot from what some might call terrible endings. The conclusion of Dexter in 2013 had everyone in an uproar, much the same as New Blood did nine years later in 2022. Now, star Micheal C. Hall is addressing those controversial finales, and he agrees with people that they were "unsatisfying."

Speaking with Screen Rant this past weekend at Sdcc, Hall touched on the endings to Dexter and its sequel series, New Blood. While some have referred to the ending of the original show as divisive, Hall took things one step further:

"Divisive? I don't even know if it was divisive [...] It was very,...

Dexter: Resurrection: Who Are the 4 Serial Killers At the Dinner?
Image
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 saw the introduction of 4 new sinister serial killers. Episode 4, titled “Call Me Red”, aired on July 25, 2025, where Dexter (Michael C. At the dinner, we are introduced to Krysten Ritter’s Mia or Lady Vengeance, Eric Stonestreet’s Al or Rapunzel, Neil Patrick Harris’ Lowell or the Tattoo Collector, and David Dastmalchian’s Gareth or the Gemini killer (via Vulture).

Lady Vengeance, as the name suggests, hunts down sexual predators; Rapunzel or the ponytail guy has an inclination toward picking victims with ponytails because of unresolved mommy issues; the Tattoo collector collects the tatted skins of his victims, and the Gemini Killer is a Zodiac analog, and by far the most serial killer-esque of the lot.

Following shocking conclusion to episode four, Dexter: Resurrection is really starting to up the ante as our main man Dexter finds himself in a new environment with deadly new acquaintances that have a similar bloodlust, although without his moral code, so it's probably only a matter of time before the Bay Harbor Butcher will need to strike again.

Rise Like a Phoenix as Dumbledore and Fawkes Are Transformed Into a New Harry Potter Figure
Image
Funko has been releasing a lot of new Harry Potter figures lately, but this one will catch the eye of every collector. Albus Dumbledore and his phoenix, Fawkes, have been immortalized in an exclusive Funko figure, just in time for San Diego Comic-Con 2025. This Hogwarts Headmaster and his majestic bird have been depicted as figures in the past, but this one is more reminiscent of a scene featured in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

With a listed price of $29.99, this Pop! Deluxe figure features Albus Dumbledore as he begins to be covered in flames. This is in reference to a scene in Order of the Phoenix, when the Ministry of Magic was going to arrest him and send him to Azkaban. Before he was taken away, Fawkes flew down and covered him in flames, thus teleporting him away from the school of magic. A release date is...

Michael C. Hall Reflects On Both Divisive Dexter Finales: "That’s Not What Anybody Wanted To See"
Image
As Dexter: Resurrection continues to astound viewers, Michael C. Hall admits to some failures in previous runs. Having begun in 2006, the original Dexter ended in 2013 with season 8, before earning the revival shows Dexter: New Blood and Resurrection. Unfortunately, whilethe franchise is beloved, the Dexter endings have been controversial.

In 2013, Dexter's story seemingly ended with a self-imposed exile, as Dexter elected to become a rural lumberjack. New Blood saw him return to his old ways, but he was seemingly killed by his son in a divisive conclusion. Resurrection saw a revival, as the name suggests, and concerns about its own eventual finale are inevitable.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan at San Diego Comic-Con, Hall confessed that the original ending was not especially satisfying for viewers. He hesitates to even call it "divisive", given the near-universal disdain for the finale. Check out his quote below, where he describes his...

Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter opens up about bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroine back for Daredevil: Born Again season 2. While discussing Dexter: Resurrection with Ash Crossan at ScreenRant'sSan Diego Comic-Con 2025 media suite, Ritter elaborated further on getting to bring back the MCU superhero in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. According to Ritter,...

Kaigaku In Demon Slayer ( Photo Credit – Still from Demon Slayer)

Demon Slayer has many memorable faces, but Kaigaku slips through the cracks until it is too late. He is not someone new when he is introduced as one of Muzan’s Twelve Kizuki. He was always there, hiding in plain sight and stitched into the story from Gyomei to Zenitsu without anyone realising how much damage he would eventually bring.

Kaigaku’s Dark Past With Gyomei Himejima

Kaigaku started as one of the orphans under Gyomei’s care, a temple child who did not care much for rules or guidance. While the other kids respected Gyomei and their home, Kaigaku was the one caught stealing. When punished, he stormed off, and that single act spiraled into tragedy.

He encountered a demon while he was out in the night and out of desperation, he led it to the temple and helped...

Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection season 1, episode 4.The creators of Dexter: Resurrection confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that there was a very subtle cameo in episode 4 that most viewers probably missed. In Resurrection episode 4, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) sees a vision of an infamous serial killer after stepping into Leon Prater's (Peter Dinklage) museum of serial killers. Dexter has a vision then, and that character was played by a very important part of the Dexter franchise.

ScreenRant attended the Dexter: Resurrection panel at San Diego Comic-Con and learned that Resurrection executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds actually has a small cameo in episode 4 as infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy. The footage of Gacy actually comes from Dexter: Original Sin episode 7, however, meaning Reynolds has recently had parts in two of the four Dexter shows.

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Victim Speaks Out: “It Was a Striking Visual I’ll Remember for Some Time”
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from Dexter: Resurrection episode four, “Call Me Red.”]

After a brief bout of death, Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan has wasted little time getting back into the business of killing.

Four episodes deep into showrunner Clyde Phillips’s Dexter: Resurrection, the titular serial killer has already put a couple of fellow killers under the knife — with plenty more still to go, based on what he uncovers in this latest outing, “Call Me Red.” The episode sees Dexter posing as the late Red Schmidt, alias “The Dark Passenger,” a New York City killer whose name just so happens to be the same as Dexter’s own internalized code. Taking on the guise of Red, Dexter infiltrates a clandestine meeting of the serial killer minds, hosted by Leon Prater, a massively wealthy serial killer admirer played by Peter Dinklage. Prater, working alongside security operative Charley (Uma Thurman), regularly assembles a cadre...

Dexter: Resurrection Star Says Being Compared to the Trinity Killer Makes His Character ‘Very Unique’
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!!!The following contains spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4!!

The latest episode of Dexter: Resurrection brings up a new lineup of serial killers that Dexter meets at Leon Prater’s convention, including Eric Stonestreet’s Al. Best known for playing the vivacious and fun-loving Cam in the hit sitcom Modern Family, the actor is taking a darker turn in the Showtime hit as he embodies a serial killer.

And immediately after his debut, Al has also drawn comparisons with one of the most notorious Dexter antagonists so far, Arthur Mitchell, aka the Trinity Killer, a blood-thirsty killer hiding in the guise of a normal family man.

Stonestreet is honored by the comparisons, as he told TV Insider, “I even appreciate being mentioned in the same sentence as the Trinity Killer.” However, he also noted that despite the apparent similarities, there remains one aspect that makes his character ‘very unique’ for the Dexter-verse.

Dexter: Resurrection Might Already Have a Bigger Monster Hiding in Plain Sight

Paramount+ with Showtime has released a sneak peek of the 4th episode (via YouTube), and let’s just say Leon Prater is not looking like just another adversary for Dexter Morgan. Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Call Me Red
Image
This is the episode that offers a glimpse of a life Dexter could lead, embracing his dark side with a walk on the wild side, far from the code he knows so well.

Dexter is a father, and he is concerned with Harrison’s future, but the lure of a banded group of like-minded folks could prove impossible to resist.

As he says, “It’s a dinner party for serial killers. An all-you-can-eat buffet for the dark passenger.”

(Zach Dilgard/Paramount+ with Showtime)

As thrilled as Dexter was stepping into Red’s shoes, thankfully, a part of him couldn’t let go of the code.

We’re not out of the woods yet. When’s the last time we’ve seen Dexter so damn… happy? “Who’s got a fake print and passes for red? This guy,” he said with a hint of a smile hiding far greater glee.

If you’re watching TV this summer — and let’s be honest, you probably are — you’ve likely seen Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine.

Maybe you just didn’t know it.

That’s the thing with Ntare: he disappears. In an era where so many actors are instantly recognizable no matter the project, he vanishes into every role.

One minute, he’s Dexter Morgan’s too-good-to-be-true neighbor Blessing Kamara, and the next, he’s breaking your heart in the darkest corners of Smoke.

Soon after, he’s back in time portraying a house slave navigating brutal contradictions in Washington Black. And somehow, you believe all of it — every time.
