I was on board with The Battery very early on. In all honesty, all it really took to rope me in was the unveiling of this badass, old school poster. I looked around on the net for reviews, but information was sparse. When the film was released on VOD/Digital, I jumped at the opportunity to watch it. I wasn’t expecting much from a no-budget zombie film. Little did I expect that it would secure a spot on my list of the best films of the year in 2013. I did what I could to promote the film, and let people know that this was something truly special. I managed to get a few people to watch it, and then it started getting more popular, as it screened at the 2013 Toronto After Dark Film Festival. People I had assured that they Needed to see this film, such as Jeff and Heather,...

It’s impossible for me to hide the fact that Scream Factory is one of my favorite boutique media labels. As far as content goes, they give me the type of films that I really want to see on the Blu-ray format. They’ve had a strong first couple of years, and I see no signs of them slowing down anytime soon. Two of the biggest… neigh, The two biggest releases of the 2014 Halloween Seasons is coming from these guys. I’m speaking, of course, about the Director’s Cut of Nightbreed, as well as the Complete Halloween Collection. But you’ve already heard about those, and pre-ordered them, right? Well, here is their entire fall(Sept/Oct… And some November, cause shut up.) lineup, in case a few have slipped by you.

You can either love or hate zombies but the fact is they are one of the monsters that just refuse to lay down and die (again). A part of pop culture they are part of one of the most popular television shows in the form of The Walking Dead and have a strong influence in the gaming world with games such as Left 4 Dead. One of the problems though is they tend to lack originality, they need something to refresh them…could The Battery be the movie to do this?

I’ve been waiting for this to happen for a long time. I rented/bought the digital copy of Jeremy Gardner’s The Battery a long time ago, and have been raving about it since. It was announced recently that Shout! Factory would be bringing the title home, with one of its modern horror acquisitions under the Scream Factory Banner. Details have been scarce, including when we could expect the release to hit shelves, but Scream Factory have sent out a news blast today, detailing the release, its date, the extras and disc specifics. The title will be available beginning September 16th. And, believe it or not, it is a dollar cheaper to pre-order the title at Shout’s website, than it is to do so on Amazon. You should totally do that, so click here to do so. Below is all of the details you need about the release,...

“Two former baseball players, Ben (Jeremy Gardner) and Mickey (Adam Cronheim), cut an aimless path across a desolate New England. They stick to the back roads and forests to steer clear of the shambling corpses that patrol the once bustling cities and towns. In order to survive, they must overcome the stark differences in each other’s personalities—Ben embraces an increasingly feral, lawless, and nomadic lifestyle—while Mickey is unable to accept the harsh realities of the new world. Mickey refuses to engage in Ben’s violent games and longs for the creature comforts he once took for granted.
