Jake Paul proved victorious against Mike Tyson on Friday night in Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions’ (Mvp) heavyweight boxing mega-event, streaming live globally on the platform.

The ‘Problem Child’ maintained a consistent lead against ‘Iron Mike’ at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, landing 78 hits against Tyson’s 18 during the eight two-minute rounds. Paul threw 278 (28%) punches against Tyson’s 97 (18%).

Friday’s match between Tyson and Paul, which was prefaced by Katie Taylor Vs. Amanda Serrano 2, was the biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in US history, surpassing $17.8 million. More than 70,000 were in attendance at the match.

Universal-owned animation studio Illumination surprised fans with a Halloween special based on its popular Sing franchise. The special, Sing: Thriller, was released on Netflix this Wednesday and announced the day before.

The 11-minute short sees the cast and characters reenact scenes from the music video for the famous 1983 Michael Jackson song “Thriller.” Many of the actors, such as Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton, and Tori Kelly, return for the special. Netflix announced that the spooky short film Sing: Thriller is set to debut Wednesday on the streaming service. Hailing from Illumination and Universal Pictures, the project returns franchise director Garth Jennings and voice actors Matthew McConaughey (playing Buster Moon), Tori Kelly (Meena), Nick Kroll (Gunter), Scarlett Johansson (Ash), Taron Egerton (Johnny) and Jennings (Miss Crawly).

Sing: Thriller follows Buster (McConaughey) and his friends staging an elaborate version of the Michael Jackson hit “Thriller” for a Halloween party. The crew later realizes that a mysterious ooze has transformed the attendees into dancing freaks.

In the animated Illumination short, Buster Moon, a charismatic koala played by Matthew McConaughey, and the Sing cast head to a Halloween party, after a successful performance of “Thriller” at the New Moon Theater. As a child of the 1970s, Myeshia Mizuno still remembers watching the Richard Dawson incarnation of “Family Feud” at home. Now, she’s the new showrunner on the Steve Harvey-hosted daytime version in syndication and the primetime “Celebrity Family Feud” on ABC — which returns July 9 for its 10th anniversary and landmark 100th episode.

And in taking on those roles — which she began earlier this year, Mizuno is also making history. After much research by the folks at series producer Fremantle, they can confirm that Mizuno is indeed the first-ever Black woman to serve as a network game show showrunner.

“I grew up watching game shows, everyone watched game shows,” Mizuno says. “They have traditionally been run by white males. So, to be the first Black woman to run a primetime network game show is huge. And not just any game show, but an iconic franchise at that! I’m very appreciative of it.

“American Idol” has announced an all-star lineup of performers for the May 19 finale. The Top 3 finalists give their all for the last chance to earn America’s vote. Jon Bon Jovi serves as guest mentor and performer, plus special performances from other music legends and today’s top stars.

Among that slate of performers are Season 14 champ Nick Fradiani and music icons New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Hootie & the Blowfish, CeCe Winans, Wynonna Judd, Seal, Cody Johnson, Bishop Briggs and James Bay.

On Sunday, May 12 the Top 3 were named at the end of fan-favorite “Disney Night.” The finalists competing for the Season 22 title are Jack Blocker, Abi Carter and Will Moseley. Eliminated one week before the grand finale were Triston Harper and Emmy Russell.

Three longtime members of the American Idol family returned on Monday to honor one of their own — Season 5 contestant Mandisa, who died on April 18 at age 47.

Colton Dixon (Season 11), Melinda Doolittle (Season 6) and Danny Gokey took the stage for an emotional group performance of Mary Mary’s “Shackles,” a song Mandisa covered when she was in Season 5’s Top 10 back in March 2006.

ABC has announced two superstar guests will appear on Season 22 of “American Idol” next week. On Sunday’s “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night,” the 2024 inductees will be announced live by host Ryan Seacrest and judge Lionel Richie (who is an inductee himself). Host Ryan Seacrest will announce the “American Idol” Top 20 in a live three-hour episode on Sunday, April 14. The Top 24 Season 22 contestants sang for America’s vote from Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii over the past two nights. Grammy winner Tori Kelly and Grammy nominee Jelly Roll mentored the finalists and joined judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on the judges’ panel.

ABC has confirmed more special guests will take the stage next weekend while four contestants are eliminated. Music stars Teddy Swims, Lauren Spencer-Smith and Paul Russell are all slated to perform.

The Top 24 contestants have performed on American Idol, but you’re going to have to wait another week to find out who advances to the next round.

ABC flew all of the Top 24 contestants to Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii to compete in the latest round with Tori Kelly and Jelly Roll serving as the guest mentors.

America is voting for their favorites for the first time during this round and fans were given the chance to vote across the two nights of performances on April 7 and 8.

Only four contestants will be cut after this round and the Top 20 contestants will perform on April 14. One night later, the Top 14 contestants will be revealed on April 15.

American Idol fans have been less than impressed with some of the decisions the judges have made so far in Season 22. Choosing Kayko over Abby Blake to move into the Top 24 had fans heated. Then, when the judges decided to axe American Idol hopeful Ziggy Krassenberg, viewers were up in arms once again. Now, they think the judges were too critical of another fan favorite. Here’s what they are saying.

Julia Gagnon Landed A Platinum Ticket

Like many of the other contestants on American Idol, Julia Gagnon auditioned in Nashville. She sang “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin. After some consideration, the judges decided to give her a coveted Platinum Ticket, which allowed her to bypass Idol Arena.

She performed alongside the other two Platinum Ticket winners, Abi Carter and Odell Bunton Jr. during the Idol Arena episode. They sang a stunning rendition of “California Dreamin'” by the Mamas and the Papas.

Tori Kelly is opening up about her hospitalization last summer.

The 31-year-old singer wound up in the ICU in July 2023, being treated for blood clots around her vital organs.

Now, she is doing much better and just released her brand new, self-titled album Tori.

In a new interview, Tori shared how her life has been impacted since her medical emergency nearly a year ago.

“When I look at just my life, my career and getting to go on these tours, I’m just like, ‘I don’t want to take anything for granted because life as I now have experienced is so fragile,’” she told People. “I’m just holding people a little closer.”

She also said that she is now feeling “amazing” and only taking “a simple medication.” She also goes in for checkups occasionally to make sure she’s doing well.

During Sunday night’s episode, the “Firework” singer let it be known that she hopes Abi Carter goes all the way on Season 22.
