Everything is not what it seems in the wealthy Winbury family of Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.

Their Nantucket home is pretty much the only idyllic thing about them, viewers will learn in the six episodes of the series, directed by Susanne Bier and adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel by Jenna Lamia. Several key changes — big and small — take the show in a different direction than Hilderbrand’s book.

Indie Rights has acquired worldwide rights to Chasing the Rain, the drama written and directed by Cindy Jansen that stars Matt Lanter. The distributor has set a December 18 bow on VOD and digital platforms.

In Jansen’s debut feature, which she also produced, Lanter plays a shy photographer who desperately tries to fit in with his friends and hold on to the decent life he seems to have. This is their Hail Mary; a weekend in the mountains to work through a book that might save their relationship via total, brutal honesty. We all know that Ray Romano has had a long and illustrious career in comedy. From his roots as a stand up comedian to his hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, not to mention his voice work in the Ice Age franchise, he’s a legend. Recently, however, he’s begun to show a more dramatic side to his talents. The Big Sick showcased that skill, while this week, he delivers his best performance to date in Paddleton, a Duplass Brothers production that hit Netflix on Friday. It’s a very nice film, with a quiet power to it, and Romano helps to really elevate it. Michael (Mark Duplass) and Andy (Romano) are unlikely friends. Middle aged men, they’re both single, neighbors, and seem to only have each other. Their lives are dominated by simple routine. They watch kung fu movies, they eat pizza, they explain to everyone they meet...

An unwieldy hybrid of “Step Brothers” and “50/50,” Alex Lehmann’s “Paddleton” offers a funny, surprisingly tender portrait of two arrested-development adult men coming to terms with a terminal illness. Ray Romano continues to offer new dimensions to the dumpy everyman characters he could at this point play in his sleep opposite Mark Duplass’ do-nothing cancer patient, while director and co-writer Lehmann (“Blue Jay”) mines a familiar kind of male bond for an understated, unexpectedly powerful payoff.

Duplass plays Michael, a copy-shop clerk with one friend, his upstairs neighbor Andy (Romano). A movie about cancer has no right to be as consistently amusing as “Paddleton” — a triumph for which credit should be spread around, even if it most deservedly goes to Ray Romano. As a bachelor whose best friend is facing his final days, Romano infuses this otherwise downcast material with regular doses of humor, all of it expertly designed to reflect the roiling emotional roller-coaster upon which he’s been thrust. Locating both pathos and comedy in a raft of small grace notes, the film seems primed to find a sizable streaming audience when, after its Sundance Film Festival premiere, it arrives exclusively on Netflix in late February.

I know that when I first step into a hotel room, I do the best I can to avoid thinking about all the people who were in there before me – but that’s mainly for hygienic reasons. To say the least, if I was one of the residents of Room 104, there would be other motives for sidestepping those truths.

Borrowing from the psychedelic imagination of The Twilight Zone, the first season of the Duplass Brothers’ Room 104 hosts a compendium of eccentric, gothic tales. Traveling in and out of the realm of reality, the show plays with a whole assortment of diverse characters and situations. Some are relatable, others are not, but all are connected by one common motif: their stay at the sometimes haunting, sometimes dynamic, sometimes hospitable motel room.

Jay and Mark Duplass are creators who don’t like to be put in a box, even if they’re making six hours of television set within the same four walls.

“Room 104,” the new HBO anthology series from the Duplass brothers, tells individual, episodic stories in each of its 12 half-hour installments, and all 12 are set within the same cheap, dingy hotel room. The first episode, which premiered at the Atx TV Festival Saturday evening, is a lot closer to Mark Duplass’ work in indie films “Creep” and “The One I Love” than the brothers’ former HBO comedy.

During a panel discussion following the episode, Duplass said he felt inspired by the constraints of the premise.

“I have something like 218 ideas in a Word document on my computer,” Duplass said.

FX drama "Sons of Anarchy" has tapped the magic of Der Hoff. David Hasselhoff has a plum guest role on FX's Sons of Anarchy as Dondo, a well-endowed former porn star who is now churning out sleazy girl-on-girl adult films. Wiliam Keck at TVGuide.com scooped the news of Der Dondo - given his break by the late Luanne (Dendrie Taylor). Last season's offbeat casting included author Stephen King as a Harvey Keitel-Winston Wolf "Pulp Fiction" cleaner type pal pf Tig's. This is a sentence we did not expect to write this week, or frankly ever: David Hasselhoff will guest-star on "Sons of Anarchy."

But it's true. The Hoff will appear in an episode of the FX drama's fourth season as a character named Dondo Elgarian, a former porn star who's now producing adult films. TV Guide first reported the news, and "Soa" creator Kurt Sutter confirmed it via Twitter.

"Last year, Stephen King, this year 'the Hoff' -- your dose of seasonal ironic guest stars," Sutter wrote. He then added, "Here's the best part ... Hoff and Tom Anrold in the same scene. Say it ain't so, Joe. Say it ain't so ..."

David Hasselhoff is to play a former porn star in the fourth season of FX drama Sons of Anarchy. The former Baywatch actor has won the role of Dondo, a past associate of Luann Delaney (Dendrie Taylor), according to TV Line. After retiring from making on-screen appearances, the "well-endowed" Dondo becomes an adult film producer and is keen to reunite with Luann. David Hasselhoff has landed a "meaty role" on "Sons of Anarchy". The former "America's Got Talent" judge is cast a well-endowed ex-porn star, Dondo, who is now making money by producing lesbian adult films.

"Dondo was given a major career boost by Luanne (Dendrie Taylor) and gets involved in a little dirty work in her memory," TV Guide reports. Hasselhoff will turn up on the show in October, while the fourth season premiere is slated for September.

The new chapter will see the gang back in Charming again. "We're out of jail and we're making money. With that upswing, comes all the complications that success and power bring," creator Kurt Sutter previously revealed. What began as a new drama at FX back in 2008 has turned into a worldwide obsession for so many fans. "Sons of Anarchy" is the construct of showrunner Kurt Sutter (The Shield) who also is a player in the Samcro fold. As an actor, Sutter shines as the incarcerated Otto Delaney, who shoulders Christ-like burdens for his brothers. This month has been one of the best that I can remember for trailers. All the studios were desperate for their trailer to get released before the Christmas holidays and we were inundated with posts. Since I love trailers so much, the inundation was most welcome. In what I am considering making a monthly post, here’s a roundup of all the trailers so far for December which I have embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

But what elevates it to championship status is the acting, because it's kind of ecstatically horrifying to watch Christian Bale and Melissa Leo tear themselves and everyone else apart.
