Exclusive: DeskPop Entertainment has acquired thriller Murder Motel, starring Oscar-nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Alexandra Grey, Jeremy Luke, James Russo, Noel Gugliemi, Nicholas Turturro, Glenn Plummer, Naomi Grossman, Jaime Zevallos, Alexander James Rodriguez and Leila Almas Rose.

Home ent and genre specialist DeskPop will release on DVD and VOD on August 6th. This film was written and directed by Paul Tully.

The synopsis reads: “Engulfed in a gritty world as the prey of ruthless drug dealers, Mickey, a Neo-Nazi meth dealer, and Tonya, a beautiful trans woman, find themselves falling in love while seeking redemption in a 72-hour race against the clock.”

The deal was negotiated between Jared Safier, CEO of Safier Entertainment, and Mat Levy, Executive Vice President of DeskPop Entertainment. The film was produced by Jaime Zevallos and Leila Almas Rose, and executive-produced by Micaiah Robnett, Judd Azoulay, and Jared Safier.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the prison break action film “Breakout,” which features the late Tom Sizemore in one his final roles. The film is set to release in April. Watch the trailer above.

The thriller is about a criminal mastermind and former LAPD explosives expert that has taken over a a maximum-security California prison with other prisoners joining his side. They go head-to-head with rogue hostage negotiator and a retired Black Ops agent who happens to have been visiting his incarcerated son.

In the trailer, which you can see above, Sizemore plays a detective, standing next to other law enforcement officers with the guns drawn. Meanwhile, we see there’s a subplot about a son seeking some kind of redemption amid the chaos. Drama!

Sam Raimi was attached to direct a sci-fi thriller set in the Bermuda Triangle for quite a while – then when he went off to replace Scott Derrickson as the director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Derrickson stepped in to take the helm of Bermuda. That was almost three years ago and we’re still waiting to hear further information on that Bermuda Triangle project. The project is described as a musical retelling of the Gospel according to John the Apostle.
