The Oscar nominee leads the adaptation based on 2021 Rachel Yoder’s novel of the same name, written and directed by Marielle Heller. The film centers around a woman who pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom, but soon her new domesticity takes a surreal turn.
“Nightbitch” was first announced in 2020 before the novel’s 2021 release. The novel description includes that Adam’s titular protagonist is an unnamed woman and former artist who grapples with parenting her two-year-old son with her absent husband (Scoot McNairy). Soon she becomes worried she’s turning into a dog while her husband travels full-time for his work.

When Thor: Love and Thunder was released, expectations were sky-high. With Taika Waititi directing—following his success with Ragnarok—Jane Foster returning, and Christian Bale set to play Gorr, one of Thor’s most formidable enemies, it seemed like a winning formula. However, the film turned out to be a disappointment, failing to deliver a coherent story and diminishing the impact of both Jane’s return and Gorr’s debut. Thor ended up as the only Avenger with four solo movies that had little overall significance.
As speculation grows about a potential fifth Thor film, it remains uncertain how Marvel will proceed. In the meantime, with limited information available, theories abound. One intriguing theory suggests that the MCU has already introduced the new Thor—and it’s not Jane Foster, contrary to what many might have expected.

When Thor: Love and Thunder came out, the expectations were high. Taika Waititi was the director – and that was great news after Ragnarok – Jane Foster was back, and we knew that Christian Bale was going to play Gorr, one of Thor’s most formidable foes. It was a perfect formula, but…
… it turned out that the film was subpar, a complete and incoherent mess that not only ruined the return of Jane and the debut of Gorr, but it also provided nothing going forward, with Thor becoming the only Avenger with four solo movies not having any impact at all. And with people speculating that a fifth Thor movie is on the way, it remains to be seen how Marvel is going to handle this.
Having said this, the information we have right now is still very scarce and there is much speculation. This opens doors to a lot of theories,...

Thor: Love and Thunder was inevitably rated an unkempt disaster by many fans, spinning around more comedic tones than was necessary for the King of Asgard. From the storyline developed among the blatantly contrasting and not-sitting-well-with-each-other themes to the costume designated for Chris Hemsworth’s hero, it all seemed to have brutally fallen short.

The part about the costume was further felt deeply as the 2022 film came after Endgame, which saw the Asgardian in one of the most scruff transitions ever before getting back in good shape. To say the least, a different Viking-themed suit prepared in a concept art would have been the perfect battle gear for him, had it not been swapped for the more campy look as was seen in the movie.

The mythological dark comedy Kaos is a new Netflix series that could have easily collapsed under the weight of its highly stylized showcase. The series might have even lost itself within its own snide and manipulative, soapy family drama while only dipping its toe in mortal waters with themes the gods would never bother with.
However, series creator Charlie Covell finds something deeply moving and human beneath all of that expressionistic imagery and performances that revel in morally ambiguous roles. Bursting with creativity and a cynical black wit, Kaos is an undeniably entertaining series and a showcase for its star, Jeff Goldblum.

We haven't had a Star Wars movie in theaters since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, although there have been lots of fits, starts and stops since then. But know that the wheel has never stopped turning. The executives at Lucasfilm and Disney are sitting high on their black thrones planning future visits to the galaxy far, far away. We're getting a Mandalorian movie, a movie about Rey from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and a film from Shawn Levy, best known right now as the director behind the hugely successful Deadpool & Wolverine.
Again, I'll say that lots of filmmakers have started to make Star Wars movies in the past few years only for the projects to fall apart, including Taika Waititi, Damon Lindelof, Rian Johnson, Patty Jenkins and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. It's a spaceship graveyard over there. But it seems like Disney has been...

George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise is a pillar of modern science fiction. What started out as a relatively ambitious space opera project became one of the most lucrative and popular franchises in history. Being present for several decades now, Star Wars has raised multiple generations of fans and it still remains one of the best fictional universes ever created.
But, just like many other franchises in recent years, the Star Wars franchise has been experiencing problems. Their latest project, The Acolyte, was at the center of numerous debates since its release and was, at the same time, both a victim of review-bombing and a project that received a lot of fan support. The series was canceled after eight episodes and it seems that this will influence the franchise’s future going forward.

Taika Waitit’s Thor: Ragnarok was one of the better-received films in the MCU, revitalizing Thor as an IP after the abysmal reception that Thor: The Dark World received. However, there was something off about the film, given the haunting nightmare that was teased in Avengers: Age of Ultron that was waiting for Thor back on Asgard.

Al Ewing and Jan Bazaldua’s Immortal Thor is all fans can discuss now in the comics world. The superhero, who ascended to the title of the All-father of Asgard recently, became one of the most powerful Gods in the Marvel universe. In the comics, Thor was traditionally far below the power level of Olympus’ Skyfather Zeus. However, that changed in Immortal Thor.

Thor (2020) is one of the best Thor stories to come out in recent times, bringing in all the characters that want to see play out in a Thor story. A time in Thor’s history when anyone could pick up Mjolnir, this recent run of Thor delivered some moments that deserve to be in the MCU one way or the other.

While there have been a lot of moments in Thor’s comics that have not made it to the MCU, one, in particular, would have been a great addition to the film had Mjolnir still existed in the MCU. There are a few things from the comics that are impossible to translate to the big screen, and this particular shot seemed tailor-made for the character, even with the differences in the MCU character and his comics counterpart.

Deadpool & Wolverine has topped the box office for the last month. It’s the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, both domestically and internationally, and the reviews and audience reaction have been top-shelf all around. Yet, as everyone who knows anything about superhero movies knows, Ryan Reynolds had a few hiccups before making it into the big time with the Deadpool franchise. There was X-Men: Origins – Wolverine, in which he played The Merc With a Mouth for the first time, but an even bigger disaster was his time as Hal Jordan in Green Lantern.
The year was 2011, and at the time Green Lantern was considered one of the hottest properties in the business. Every up-and-coming actor of the era, including Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and even Justin Timberlake coveted that role. Ryan Reynolds nabbed it, but it proved to be a mixed blessing. As much as it may surprise some, transitioning from athletics to entertainment isn’t that big of a leap. There are traditional routes, like Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley becoming commentators following their long careers as basketball players, as well as occasional actors. Lebron James founded a production shingle called SpringHill Entertainment in 2007, only 4 years into his professional playing career and has since, with the help of his partner Maverick Carter, grown it into the SpringHill Company, with focuses in marketing and platforming other athletes. Looking at the Paris Olympics as a current example, one of the first thing many of these athletes must do outside of their sport is learn how to present themselves to a world audience.

Exclusive: The Day The Clown Cried is getting another chance at the big screen. Rewritten by Jerry Lewis, who starred in and directed a 1972 feature drama that went unfinished and unreleased, the script for the Holocaust tale is being revived by K. Jam Media founder Kia Jam. Jam has been part of the financing and producing of films ranging from The Killing Game to In the Heart of the Sea, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and numerous others.
Jam said he has executed a purchase agreement on the original script by Joan O’Brien and Charles Denton. Lewis took a hand in reshaping it as a starring and directing vehicle. Jam is going back to the original screenplay. He said he has the production financing, and the next step is to secure a filmmaker with the guts to tell a most harrowing story.

Time Bandits Season 1 Episodes 7 and 8 are gathering steam as we close in on the final episodes, despite Episode 7 being a largely throw-away 50 minutes of fluff.
As a comparison with the original, which is perhaps something I should cease and desist doing, Taika Waititi’s series is essentially a stand-alone.
Having only the loosest association with its namesake, it’s better to view Apple TV’s version on its own merits.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
Certain remakes and adaptations will always have this problem, which is why the originals are almost always regarded as the superior rendition.
It took a little while for Time Bandits to find a semi-sort-of pathway through time. Though it’s been a bumpy ride, there is some semblance of cohesion coming together here near the end.

The new films, such as Skincare, can sometimes be downright Hitchcockian. It is a contemporary thriller with more on its mind than most regarding social media and the vain narcissism that grows like a garden of invasive and unwanted weeds. Clever, suspenseful, and surprising, Skincare is a gripping tale of obsession that hits close to home.

Although Time Bandits began as a 1981 cult classic film, it has earned itself a modern makeover thanks to comedy duo Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. New episodes of the first season have been dropping weekly on Apple TV+, with the final two episodes out on Wednesday, August 21. The show follows Kevin Haddock (Kal-El Tuck), a preteen history nerd who finds himself traveling through space and time with a gang of amateur thieves who call themselves the Time Bandits. The crew, led by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow), find themselves on the run from their former boss and godly overlord, Supreme Being (Waititi),while simultaneously being tracked by his spiritual opposite, Wrongness (Clement). As they make their way through time via portals, they’re able to learn more about the different historical environments they find themselves in, thanks to Kevin serving as their personal history genius. AppleTV+'s TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam's cult movie Time Bandits has proven itself to be a fantastic retelling. Created by comedy legends Taika Waititi, Iain Morris, and Jemaine Clement, the series is both a hilarious and bonkers time-hopping adventure.
The series is led by Kal-El Tuck, who plays the charming Kevin Haddock, a young history buff who's swept through various eras of history when a band of time-traveling misfits, captained by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow), enters his bedroom — which just so happens to be a portal through space-time. At first, Kevin relishes the opportunity to witness history first-hand, but when the world is threatened and his parents are put in danger, things start to get serious.
We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Kal-El Tuck and interview him about his experience on the series. Check it out!

Don’t ask Cecily Strong who she thinks is the nicest Saturday Night Live host. Pfft. Guest hosts are all nice. “I think that’s because people come in, and they’re nervous,” Strong told Busy Phillips on a 2019 episode of Busy Tonight. “They want to do well so you’re seeing people at their most vulnerable.”
That puts guests on their best behavior, or as Strong likes to call it, “scared and weak.” And that’s the way she prefers it.
So let’s forget nicest. Which host surprised Strong the most? “I was the most shocked by Chris Hemsworth,” she said, admitting she was less than thrilled when she heard Thor was coming to 30 Rock. “When he first hosted, I was like, ‘Ugh, not my world.’”

Like water and oil, it’s a rare character that is fun to watch, though we avoid their personality types, like a port-a-potty on a grueling summer day.
No one wants to shake hands and drink with these fictional manifestations of all the worst characteristics. But visually indulging in their underhanded dealings and delightful sadism is just too entertaining to turn away.
Why rage, seething hatred, and ominous discomfort attract us time and time again is worth its own article. Civilized society has its caveats, after all.
(Courtesy of Ollie Upton/HBO)
Perhaps a Joffrey Baratheon lurks within the dark recesses of the seemingly inert portion of everyone’s gray matter.
Maybe it’s best to talk about the characters we find fun to watch but wouldn’t want to meet, leaving our inner psychosis to slumber away and, hopefully, never to awaken.

“Who is that actor?” It’s probably everyone’s reaction to their first experience of Britain’s Matt Berry. With his booming delivery, and an uncanny ability to draw out every last vowel and consonant from even the dullest of words, Berry has been a cult comic actor in the U.K. for 20 years now. He broke out there in 2012 with Toast of London, a surreal sitcom in which he appeared as the bitter, buffoonish, self-serious thespian Steven Toast. But in 2019, the FX show What We Do in the Shadows took his homegrown appeal overseas, as the shape-shifting 300-year-old vampire Laszlo in the mock-doc comedy show inspired by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s word-of-mouth movie hit from 2014.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want to right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Interestingly enough, Star Wars‘ hopes on the big screen now rest with The Mandalorian, the same franchise that launched the galaxy far, far away’s TV push. Out in 2026, The Mandalorian and Grogu, a continuation of the stories told in the hit Disney+ series, will be the first new Star Wars movie since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

Jenna Ortega is in talks to join Glen Powell in J.J. Abrams’ forthcoming, untitled Warner Bros. movie.
Ortega will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and would star alongside Powell, whose summer blockbuster “Twisters” (a Warner Bros. co-production) is nearing the $200 million domestic mark.
Not much is known about Abrams’ new film except that it is not a time travel movie (as had been previously speculated) and that Abrams both wrote the script and will be directing. The project will be produced by Abrams and his production company Bad Robot.
Ortega, in addition to returning for the second season of “Wednesday,” recently finished filming Taika Waititi’s “Klara and the Sun,” A24’s “Death of a Unicorn” and an untitled film directed by Trey Edward Shults. “Wednesday,” it’s worth noting, is the most-watched Netflix series of all time. If you were an 80s kid, chances are that Time Bandits was a staple of your movie memories. In the new Time Bandits, Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) has few friends, and his family thinks his fascination with history is weird. When the Time Bandits, led by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow), land in his bedroom, Kevin joins the ragtag crew through various eras of history ranging from the Trojan War to Prohibition and beyond. On their trail are the forces of the Supreme Being (Taika...
