Bryn Cartwright (William Thomas) a wealthy roofing contractor, rugby club chairman and local kingpin rules the roost until Fatty Lewis (Huw Ceredig) a local handyman falls off a ladder on a Cartwright job. Fatty’s twin junkie grandsons, Julian (Llyr Ifans) and Jeremy (Rhys Ifans) who are not in fact twins –attempt to procure compensation from Cartwright, who refuses to pay up. Welsh actor known for playing Reg Harries in TV soap Pobol y Cwm
Twenty-nine years of playing the political activist turned pub landlord Reg Harries in the Welsh-language serial Pobol y Cwm made Huw Ceredig, who has died aged 69 after suffering from diabetes and pneumonia, one of Britain's longest-running soap actors and a familiar face to television viewers across Wales.
He joined the BBC Wales programme (whose title translates as People of the Valley) from its second episode in 1974. Set in the fictional village of Cwmderi, it began as a weekly programme, switched to the Welsh fourth channel, S4C, on the station's launch in 1982, and six years later went up to five episodes a week. Reg, a union official and former miner, was originally seen as a socialist councillor fighting for local causes – partly reflecting Ceredig's own political activism of the time as secretary of the Welsh Language Society,...

Welsh Actor Ceredig Dies
Welsh actor Huw Ceredig has died, aged 69.
The star, who appeared alongside Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller in 2008's The Edge of Love, passed away at his home in Bridgend, South Wales on Tuesday.
Ceredig was best known in his native country for playing Reg Harries in longstanding soap opera Pobol y Cym for 29 years. He also appeared in films like cult 1997 comedy Twin Town, opposite Rhys Ifans, and in 1992's Rebecca's Daughters.
He was also a TV regular on British television shows Heartbeat, Emmerdale and Z-Cars.
