Best practices:
(1) Posts are limited to one per author, per month. This is to limit 'barrage' style posting.
(2) Ideally, put your book title, series title, series character in the subject line so we know what's being presented.
Wrong way: 'New spy novel release just 99 cents!'
3) Avoid ALL CAPS in the subject line.
Wrong way: "MY LATEST NOVEL, 'PISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN' JUST OUT!"
4) Keep subject lines succinct.
Wrong way: 'What happens when international spy meets his old flame at a Club Med resort during a voodoo uprising, just 99 cents to find out!!!'
5) In the message body: provide a brief synopsis of the book's theme or premise. Don't just tell us where to buy your book, and the price. Give us some background. What's the genre? The setting? How many pages? Characters? How long have you been writing? What's *your* background?
Wrong way: "Hello espionage readers, please check out my latest release at Amazon for just 99 cents, (89 cents with promo code). Most downloaded title in bio-terror for the past 30 days!"
6) 'Extinct' postings ([posts older than one month) shall be stored in the 'Archive' section of group discussions--if they contain a discussion. If there is no discussion in the thread, they'll simply be deleted.
7) Please do your best to make every promo post tied to an actual promotion. A sale, a giveaway, an offer, a discount, a gift of five free books to the first five who respond, a preview, a request for review...all of this is appropriate for a promo post.
Wrong way: "Hi all, I'm back to remind you again about my book series--"
Chances are that everyone has already heard this information, no need to repeat it unless there's a new promo involved.
8) All of the above does not apply to new book release events. New book releases by resident, 'in-group' authors will gladly be boosted and assisted by group moderators.
Authors, please contact moderators when you have an upcoming book release. This is legitimate news we are glad to endorse.
