Rock Chick Revolution

Rate this book
Ally Nightingale has secrets. Secrets she doesn't even share with the Rock Chicks. But two men know what she's up to. One has her back. The other has her heart, but he doesn't know it.

As Ally rewinds the last year of her life, she knows two things. One, she’s never going to get what every Rock Chick should have—her own Hot Bunch guy. And two, she’s a Nightingale through and through. She just isn’t sure what to do about that.

But as her secrets are revealed, the men in her life react. Darius Tucker, a lifelong friend, as usual takes her back. Ren Zano, the man she loves, isn’t quite so sure. The Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch and the entire gang at Fortnum’s weigh in, and a Rock Chick Revolution starts brewing.

It’s up to Ally to control it and prove what she knows down to her bones.

She’s a Rock Chick, she deserves her hot guy and she’s going to keep the one she wants…

Because she’s a Nightingale.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

** FULL SPOILER-FREE ARC REVIEW NOW POSTED **

Righteous! 4.5 stars.

There are no possible words to describe the feeling of pure, exhilarated  joy I felt starting this book. It was like every single Christmas, birthday and snow day rolled into one moment... but better!

Kristen Ashley is a go-to author for me. I will read anything she writes. In fact, she's one of the only authors who I don't even need to read a blurb from. If she wrote it, I'll read it. End of story.

Speaking of ends of stories, this book is the end of the Rock Chick series. I don't know whether to happy dance that the series has come full circle or sob hysterically because I know there won't be any more. This series is so dear to my heart - truly one of the best I've read. Each book manages to both perfectly capture the 'completed book' feeling you get when reading a standalone but while also giving you those deeply satisfying 'close' connections to the characters that you can only get from reading a series with a large ensemble cast.

I feel like I *know* these characters personally. I know their quirks, their habits, their speaking patterns. I've cried with them, laughed with them and been with them through all manner of badass craziness. So the truth is that I'm sad to let them go but at the same time just so incredibly happy to see them so settled and content.

Kristen Ashley has one of my most favorite writing styles. It's completely unique to her. I swear, if you showed me a random pieces of text, I promise you I could immediately point out which one was hers. It's totally brilliant. It's like she has her own language and writes by her own rules in a way that exactly reflects the Rock Chick world. I love it!

There are parts of my book which aren't just excessively highlighted, they're honestly just all yellow for pages on end and there are some scenes where just EVERY. SINGLE. LINE. IS. BRILLIANT!! Seriously. Just gold. Sometimes I'd just stop, backtrack a few pages and re-read a scene because it was that good.

I'm not going to say much about the plot here because honestly, if you haven't read the first books, you shouldn't be reading this one and if you have read the first books then you already know the set up (and probably are willing to read this book even if the whole thing was everyone just sitting in a room staring at each other). But suffice it to say that we get both current day events and Rock Chick Rewinds that go back and fill in the blanks with what was up in Ally-world during the time of the previous books because while Ally had been an integral part of the Rock Chick gang, she'd always been in the background so we never fully knew what was going on in her life.

I loved Ren! In Ally's words he was like "a rock star without the guitar and in a suit"... so in other words, HOT! But he was different from the Hot Bunch and has his own way of being - it was still Alpha and it was still badass but in a way that was uniquely his.
"[Ren] might not be a member of the Hot Bunch, but he was a full-blooded Italian hot guy member of a crime family. So I was thinking his rabid alpha behavior either equaled or rivaled any member of the Hot Bunch, including Luke, who, in my opinion, was totally OTT."

Now, he and Ally didn't have the smoothest of starts. Ally had her reasons for holding back, keeping them at "fuck buddy" status and Ren had his reasons for believing they were more.

"How many times do I have to tell you? We're fuck buddies, Zano."

He shook his head again, his thumb sweeping across my cheek and his face getting so close to mine, his lips nearly brushing my own.

"No baby, we're not. I've had fuck buddies, Ally. And not one of them looked like you look when I slide inside you, every fucking time I slide inside you. Like a piece of you has been lost and now it's found."

Ally was just total woman badass - all the way. As the sister of two professional badasses, being brave and fearless was in her blood. She was the ultimate independent, can-do, cool chick. But, having grown up surrounded by badasses, who then went on to build an even bigger network of badasses around her and having seen every one of them fall in love and go through those whole ordeals, Ally was sure of exactly what she did and didn't want out of life.

"No way was that shit happening with me. Some over-the-top macho guy forcing his way into my life, taking it over and bossing me around?

Unh-unh.

I didn't care if it came with regular orgasms. That shit was not for me."

But let me tell you, Ren was not necessarily down with his woman being neck deep in badass work. Not at all. But I loved that once they talked about it, it wasn't that he wanted to stop her, he just wanted to be involved in a way where he could make it a top priority to instil upon her the reality that what they had between them was not casual and what she did was totally his business. He was all about sorting things out and getting to the bottom of things but he also respected her and was willing to give her her space because he cared deeply about her.

"That body's mine and I don't want it filled with bullets and tossed in the Platte. So, for the hundredth fuckin' time, babe, it IS my business."

This book had a little of everything we've come to love in this series... lines that made me fist pump, squee, literally do a happy dance, snort with laughter in a very un-graceful way, and also moments that made me teary and had me clutching my heart... plus it wouldn't be a true RC book without at least one explosion and kidnapping ;)

I won't lie though - there were some slower parts to the book too... nothing bad at all though and I have absolutely no specific complaints but I found that it coasted at a very happy 4+ stars in between scenes of pure 5+++ star WIN! And during those scenes, it was absolutely fan-fuckin'-tastically righteous!!

One of the area where KA excels - and by excels, I mean few authors can even touch on the brilliance she dishes out - are interactions. They. are. GOLD.

"For God's sake, yes!" I yelled. "We're making it official!"

Hank looked to the ceiling.

Lee looked to his boots.

"Explains why apartments are exploding," Luke commented. "A Rock Chick has set her sights on a hapless male."

I did love that the book focused not only on Ally and Ren but also on the sibling relationship between her and Hank and Lee. They were so protective of her that despite it being maddening at times, it was downright heartwarming as well.

"We leave her in your care, you better take that seriously."

"Are you kidding me?" I yelled before Ren could say a word, and Lee looked at me.

"Ally, I'm your brother. Do you think I wouldn't say "I'm thirty-two, not sixteen," I retorted.

"You'll always be sixteen to me."

*sniff*

I loved Ally's badassesness - she loved her man and she loved that he loved her but no way was she going to stand for anything more than what she allowed for.
"It's both cool and hot, this gig of your wanting to protect me and stick up for me. But I just want yo make it clear right now, honey, that you don't get to make and carry through decisions about my life without discussing them with me. And just to be  crystal clear, discussing is a courtesy I extend to you. My life is my life, and in the end I made the decisions."

And Ren understood that... he just had his reasons for being protective too...

"Okay, why'd you do this?"

"Because you got your ass on radar for that guy and… since your ass is my ass, I protect that ass, both proactively and retrospectively. I do that by gathering any and all information on anyone who might be involved, even unintentionally, in threatening that ass."

I love the bonds that these people had for each other. They'd do anything for each other and you could feel it. Their loyalty ran deep and that comes across loud and clear. It was a badass, dangerous world out there but these guys (and girls) always had each other's backs. Always.

"[These] romances are the best kind ever… Real… But they're about more. They're about love of all kinds. They're about family. Family of all kinds…"

The ending was awesome. Everyone coming together for a purpose. It gave me shivers and a deep feeling in my heart not to mention tears in my eyes. It was heart warming yet sad saying good bye to these characters but we're left with an absolutely fantastic series full of pure badass win that I know I'll be re-reading in the future.

We also get a huge nudge in the direction of the next book. Darius played a major part in this book and his story is strongly set up so I can't wait to see what KA has in story for him!!

ROCK ON!!!

Original Review -

Exciting, funny, sexy, quirky... 5 Rock Chick RIGHTEOUS stars!!

"Because, no matter how old we get, we always need to believe in fairytales."

I adore Kristen Ashley’s stories. They’re fun, sexy, heartfelt, thought provoking, and you can tell that they come from a place of truth. Each and every one has become a favorite, for different reasons. Some grab my heart because they’re poignant, others because they’re romantic. Some set my imagination free, while others ground me and make me feel solid. I love that regardless of the tale she’s telling, she can pull me in, have me connect with the characters – who never feel like characters, by the way – and keep me turning the pages into the wee hours of the morning. And such is the case with this story.

Rock Chick Revolution is the eighth and final book in Kristen Ashley’s totally awesome Rock Chick series, and the story most of us hard-core fans have been waiting for. From their first encounter in Rock Chick Revenge when Ally gets in Ren’s face to make him step back from the fight between he and Luke – over Ava, no less – you just know these two will end up together and that they’ll push at each other, pull at each other, drive each other insane and burn up the sheets together. And man, oh, man, do they ever!

“Revolution” in the title is very apt, for a couple of reasons. One being that the story of the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch has come full circle. But while reading this story I couldn’t help but connect that word to what was happening in the Rock Chick world – a revolution of sorts. I’ve always seen Ally as a wild card. The one you could never totally read. Like the rest of the Rock Chicks, she’s a girl who knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it. That said, what Ally wants is HUGE and is going to upset the Hot Bunch apple cart in a big way, and cause a revolution of epic proportions. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

There are some very cool twists. Some totally awesome turns. Things you may have never seen coming, but when they come, you can’t help but smile, and I mean smile in a way that comes from deep inside. "Because, no matter how old we get, we always need to believe in fairytales."

Oh, and one last thing - you know that saying, when one door closes, another opens, so an ending is just a beginning?

Yeah. That.

Just sayin'...

I am a very happy person right now.

I read my last Rock Chick book.

I loved it.

I loved the whole series <3

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I've been a fan of RC since I've read the first book, and I loved them all (more or less :D), so I have to admit, I was scared about this last one, you know how it is when a series is ending, you just want it to be right, but most of the time it ends up disappointing...

Not here :)

At least not for me ;))))

I really liked the story here :)

I liked Ally, though she sometimes got on my nerves (the badass thing, was not a fan for some reason)

I looooooooooved Ren <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 He is the perfectest OMG I want one <3

I enjoyed the writing, I didn't skip a single description and nothing bothered me, and I am shocked cause I expected to skip a bit :D

I am disappointed because it looks like won't get a book :(((

I absolutely loved the first half of the book, while the last 30-ish % were somewhat boring or just not my thing I guess.

I could have done without scenes

I loved the epilogue, it was great to see them all :)))

The BEST PART of the book was Kristen Ashley mentioning herself.
I died laughing, it's just EPIC!

And so, even though the series is over, I know I'm gonna re-read it again and again, because seriously, these guys are the bestest.

Luke...
Vance....
Hector.....
Hank......
Lee.......
Eddie........
Mace.........

Ren <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

How I truly want and need this!

I am a 28yr old mother to 2 kids and a wife to a man I do truly love. Along the way I became a mama and wife and lost myself. This series reminds me I gotta also be me. Brings back fond and crazy memories!

**Review of Rock Chick series as a whole**

The above was what I typed when I added the book to my to read pile.
I will get to more of that in a minute.

Now let me paint you a picture.
A picture where a helpless, at the time 28yr old, waits upon a book.
A book where she believes will hold many secrets; a lot of laughs & will be the answer to her prays.

Said girl (that would be me) added the book, at the time titled “Untitled Rock Chick #8”, to her to be read pile.

She had just finished the 7th book of the rock chick series.

The KA journey for her started one lonely winters night. She was missing her husband, as he had to go away for work. It was the first time ever she was away from the husband. The husband being away was indeed a good time. Why you may ask? Because while the husband was away, the books came out to play.
But at night she missed the cuddles, and the night time cap **wink** **wink**.

She was going through her TBR pile and saw that the story Rock Chick had been sitting there for a while. So she thought, why not?

She started off with the words “Until now, I’ve never been in trouble with the law.” And she knew, deep down to her soul that these books would change her perception in life.

She went through the wild ride that was Indy & Lee.

"There's nothin' better in the world than hearing you say my name when I'm inside you." He slid in deeper, filling me. "I've been waiting years to be right here.”

She met and experienced her first Hot Bunch MAN. (Please note man is spoken in CAPITALS because these MEN are all MAN)

“You want to marry me?”
“No. I’m gonna marry you.”

Then she devoured the 2nd book, Rock Chick Rescue.

The love and sexiness that was all Jet & Eddie.
It started with the words, “Don’t get excited, I’m not cool and hip.” And she knew right then, that Jet was her Sista from Anotha Mista. And she met her 2nd hot bunch MAN.

“Everyone's got their hands out waitin' for you to take one. You gotta learn when to take someone's hand before you fall.”

She knew that no man would come close to Eddies flame.

“Chiquita, women spend a lot of time sittin’ around bitchin’ that there are no good men out there.
I hate to tell you this, but there aren’t a lot of good women either.
The difference is, when a man sees one, he knows it.
Then, he goes after her and wears her down until she’s his.
Then, if he’s any man at all, he won’t let her go.”

Well until she read the 3rd instalment, Rock Chick Redemption.
The piss your pants laughing instalment of Roxie & Hank.
The first words of “It’s happened to me twice, love at first sight.”

She knew she just found another Sista from Anotha Mista, because she too had fallen in love at first sight with The Husband.
And She met her 3rd Hot Bunch MAN, Hank.

“I'm protecting what's mine."
"I'm not yours,"
"You're welcome to think that but it doesn't change the fact that you are.”

Seriously, who would have thought She would fall in love for the 3rd time reading a book series! That flame for Lee & Eddie just became a flame of 3 for her.

“But, baby, through that long journey, I’ve only ever been home twice. Once, twenty years ago and now I’m home again, with you. You. I know exactly who you are. I just have to introduce you to her.”

She laughed so hard and loud (please note this happened at 3am) that her neighbors cracked the shits & banged the wall adjacent to her wall and told her to “SHUT THA FUCK UP”.

She then thought to herself, Kristen Ashley is a fucking genius and jumped straight to book 4, Rock Chick Renegade.

The heartfelt ride of Jules & Vance.

And with that first paragraph;

“Well, I guessed eventually it would come to this. It wasn’t like I wasn’t expecting it. I knew when I started this crusade that something like this could happen, probably would happen, and here I was, in a dead end alley, facing down Vance Crowe.”

She instantly pictured herself as Jules.
She felt everything inside her quiver. Because of Vance Crowe.
Vance was forbidden fruit. He was dangerous and her 4th experience with a Hot Bunch MAN.

“No matter what,” he said, his voice fierce and strong and rumbling through me. “You told me I was home to you and I get it. You’re home to me. I’ve never had a home. I like the one I found and I’m not losin’ it. No matter what.”

She went to bed and dreamed everything Vance. And that 3-flame candle now was burning Bright with 4 flames.

“If someone like you, someone as unbelievably beautiful as you, as crazy and sweet as you, filled with attitude and courage with her heart in the right place, in a lot of right places even though her head normally isn’t… if someone like you shares her bed with me, then that says something about me.”

Honestly how much better could this get?

Then......CAPOW......BOOM......EARTHSHAKING.....WIND BLOWING......WINDOWS RATTLING.......She read the 5th book, Rock Chick Revenge. (Please note THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER FUCKING WRITTEN EVER)

The amazingness, and hotness that is Ava & Luke.

It started off with;

“I sat in my hunter green Range Rover, hands resting on my steering wheel, forehead resting on my hands, wondering what in the hell I was doing.”

And She though to herself, hmmm this shall be interesting.
And She was not wrong!

“I'm not stupid, I know your heart's involved in this and I've never, not once in all the time you've known me, given you the idea that I won't handle it with care.”

Luke Stark was her 5th encounter of a Hot Bunch MAN. (Please keep in mind She fell in love, completely in TRUE LOVE, to the point where she wanted to call The Husband Luke, in book 3 where she first encountered Luke) Luke Stark made her go crazy. Luke Stark till this day, with just hearing the name out in public makes her go crazy.

“I've liked you since you were eight years old. You made me laugh. You understood me. You looked out for me when no once else f**kin' bothered and you acted like you thought I could move mountains and I needed someone who thought that about me.”

“You’ve been mine since you were eight.”

“Ava you missed it when it happened so I'll clue you in. Last night, around the time you fell asleep against me, you became mine.”

“Jesus, you could bring a man to his knees.”

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!!! HOW FUCKING AMAZING IS LUKE STARK.
HE IS MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE!
I WANT TO HAVE FICTIONAL BABIES WITH HIM.

Hmmm okay back to my review.

With this 5th book and everything that was Luke, Kristen Ashley became her all time favorite author EVER! No other author compares and no one ever will.

She was still riding the high that was Ava & Luke when she started the 6th book Rock Chick Reckoning.

Stella & Mace........Everything that was and is Rock n Roll.

And with the opening line of “The phone rang.” She experienced all things Kai “Mace” Mason the 6th Hot Bunch MAN!

“You tore my sheet.”
“I’ll buy you a new one.”
“I don’t want a new one. I think I’m going to have this one bronzed.”

Because of her high and love of Luke Stark, her love for Mace was not as strong. Never the less she still felt the love!

“You keeping me alive tonight?”
“Even if I die doin’ it.”

And at the end of book 6, She read the epilogue and fell in love with Kristen Ashley all over again.

But She noticed the change and vibe to the book. The story was a lot more serious than the others. A slight darkness that crept in, into the light.

She didn’t believe ANYONE would come close to the love she felt for Luke but then she turned on her Kindle and started the 7th (And at the time last available book in the series) installment Rock Chick Regret.

The heart wrenching and heart warming ride of Sadie & Hector.

The story started with the words “The elevator pinged and I looked out into the plushly carpeted hall.” But the story truly had her at the 2nd chapter where for her she experienced the dark side and scary that Kristen Ashley so beautifully writes.

For her, Sadie’s story hit home. For her, Sadie’s story broke her heart.

“It only matters if there’s someone to care if you don’t wake up. It’s ok if I don’t wake up because there’s no one to care.”

For her, Hector repaired her heart, Soul & Body as he did Sadie’s.

“I carried you to the Explorer and you couldn’t even hold your head up. You passed out in my lap after you told me there was no one to care if you woke up. I live to be a hundred, mamita, I’ll never forget it. Not one fuckin’ second of it.”

Hector for her, the 7th Hot Bunch MAN, came close to her 1st love Luke.

“His arm did a squeeze and his voice got softer. “I’m thinkin’ you need more time to get used to me. I’m okay with that, Mamita, take all the time you need.”

And that was the end of her Rock Chick ride for that moment.
And she waited as patiently as she could for the next installment.
She waited 1 year, 2 months, and 1 day. Which is 61 weeks, which equals to 428 days if anyone counted.
And her waiting patiently meant, reading every single book Kristen Ashley published. Rereading every single book Kristen Ashley published 4 times in that period. And stalking Kristen Ashley on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, emails and KA’s website. And pre ordering the book as soon as She was able to.

The time was nearing so She booked annual leave (I think the Americans call it Vacation leave) from the 9th August to the 15th August. She needed to prepare (Reread all of Rock Chick Books) before the release. And then **insert happy dance** release day arrived.

BOOK 8, ROCK CHICK REVOLUTION RELEASE DAY FINALLY FUCKING ARRIVED.
Then she remembered her 13th of August was ahead, due to being an Australian Rock Chick. Which meant it was still the 12th August in Amazon land.
She synced her Kindle every half hour from 6am to 2pm. Then She synced for every 15 min from 2pm to 6pm, and then FINALLY at 6pm Rock Chick Revolution was on her Kindle. Her BFF was sitting with her when it arrived, and upon seeing her reaction to having the book on her Kindle, The BFF pissed herself laughing.

And when she opened the book and read the Acknowledgments she started to cry. Because Kristen Ashley, even while just saying a few truth words before the story began, wrote as beautifully as she did her fiction.

And when she started the story;

“I woke up naked, in a motel, with a man behind me.
We were spooning.
Ren always spooned me.”

She squealed like a bitch in heat!

She finally was reading the story of Ally & Ren.
The Hot CHICK!
See that right above there. That word Chick? Because this book was all about Ally.

“It wasn’t perfect, none of it. But it was a fairytale. And people needed to believe in
fairytales. Even flawed ones. Maybe especially flawed ones. And they needed to believe always.”

Who woulda thunk that Ally was such an in-depth character.

Ren, to her, was not part of the Hot Bunch BUT he was a law unto himself.

“No, baby , we are not. I’ve had fuck buddies, Ally. And not one of them looked like you look when I slide inside you, every fucking time I slide inside you. Like a piece of you has been lost and now it’s found.”

She quickly realized that the story of Ally & Ren was an eighth of what the book was all about.

It was what the title of the book was, a revolution. A change. And a good one at that. It touched based with every single character we met throughout the books.

This installment of Rock Chicks was most definitely not like the others, it was nowhere near like the others BUT it was just as good!

In the Acknowledgements Kristen wrote she wrote what she wanted........

Well sister you also wrote what we Rock Chick fans wanted.

And at this juncture I think I shall stop referring to myself in 3rd person.

To me Kristen Ashley reminded me what family is. She reminded me that life can become hard. Stressful. Sorrowful. And life at times can feel as though you are drowning. BUT on a dark day, some light will ALWAYS shine through.

Every single person, every single soul has someone who cares about them.
No matter how low you feel, grasp onto the people who love you and love them back! Keep hold of them and tell them you love them every single day!

To a woman who had a strict upbringing, then having 2years of absolute wildness, where to this day I laugh at the shit I got up too and at times cry like a baby, to a woman after 2 years off a crazy life and in the middle of it finds her true love at the young age of 20. Who then gets married to said true love in 3 weeks of meeting him thus becoming The Husband. To a woman who has baby #1 by the age of 21 and baby #2 by the age of 24. To a woman who lost herself along the way because she was too busy being a wife and a mum and a sister and a daughter and even a friend. To a woman who didn’t even realize she lost herself until she started reading Kristen Ashley. These books reminded me to be myself, to let my light shine through. AND NO JOKE PEOPLE……… life got that little bit sweeter.

And I thank Kristen Ashley for that.

I don’t know if that sounds crazy, and to be perfectly honest I don’t give 2 shits if it does but what I said is the truth.

Even now finishing off this review, I do it with tears in my eyes.
One journey has ended but another one is on its way!

Kristen Ashley for me will always be my favorite author ever!
I will always vouch for her stories.
When I am feeling down, I reread my favs of KA and it places a smile on my face.
Kristen Ashley has ruined me for any other author.

I don’t think I will ever have the words I can use to express the love and thankfulness I feel towards you.

So I will try with these simple words........ROCK ON!

COVER REVEAL! That's it, Rock Chicks and Rock Gurus, we're getting closer. The cover is ready to roll!

Ally and Ren are comin' at you, full steam ahead, ready on release date August 13, 2013!

Rock on!

PS: Just a reminder, this is self-published so it isn't available for pre-order. But it WILL be available on the release date. Giddy-up!
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The last title in the Rock Chick Series is scheduled to be released in eBook and print on August 13, 2013. Righteous!

Is There Life after Rock Chick?

Heck yeah!

Although the final chapter of Rock Chick will be Ally's story, this doesn't mean we need to say good-bye to the gang at Fortnum's. Oh no. They'll return in a spin-off series. This might or might not include Darius getting his story told in the spin-off series. As I've not yet said good-bye to my Rock Chicks, I don't know how that'll pan out. So if you are aching for Darius to have his happily ever after, don't give up hope. Just stay tuned for more information on that.

And as an aside: I often get folks asking me to tell Daisy and Marcus's story. I love, love, LOVE it that you love my Daisy enough to want to see how she found Marcus and her unusual but lovely happily ever after. And I never say never so perhaps one day they'll get a novella. For now, my writing schedule is crazy! So I'm not saying no... I'm just saying not real soon but it could happen!

2** ~ I F*CKING LOATHE ALLY NIGHTINGALE ~ STARS

It pains me to do this because this was one of the most anticipated releases of 2013 for me but this was 2 stars read (at best!) & the worst book of the series [for me].

2 stars as per GR = it was OK. The only reason this book was even OK [for me] is Ren.

It's not that this was bad but just so ... anticlimactic (for the lack of a better word).

There really isn't a need for my review below because this book can be summarized by the following quote from Shirleen:

"Everyone's hooked up, you were the last, and you were boring"

You said it, Shirleen! Now, in true Rock Chick fahions, give me five, girl!

 photo Tina-Fey-Amy-Poehler-High-Five_zps635e248a.gif

When I said there isn't a need for my review, I was only kidding sooooo ...

 photo letmetellyouaboutmyfeels_zpseb419641.gif

I want to begin by saying that I've been a fan of Rock Chick series yet I've never been a fan of the actual Rock Chicks (except for Stella but even she had her moments).

Having said that, I didn't expect to go into this book and all of a sudden fall in love with Ally but I didn't expect to hate her as much as I did either.

This was THE FIRST AND ONLY time [while reading a book by Kristen] I skimmed (and in some cases skipped altogether) almost half the book, most sex scenes & pretty much most of the epilogue and even had thoughts of not finishing the book altogether. I know this series is about Rock Chicks but there was simply WAY TOO MUCH Ally in this and not enough Ren . Ally and all her crazy as a side dish in all of the previous books was just fine with me. Ally and all her crazy as a main course? No thanks.

Some of the reasons why this book didn't work for me:

1. Ally and her need to play cops and robbers. I think some things are better left to people who know what they are doing and who are naturally cool (think Creed's Sylvie).

2. Ally saying "Yo!" as a greeting.

Yo, Ally! I've got a message for you ... here it is:

 photo queenfuckoff_zpsa461bf21.jpg

3. Ally and her inability to compromise yet expecting everyone around her to do so.

4. Ally sticking her nose in everyone else's business and thinking she knows better.

Basically, this is Ally in a nutshell:

 photo perfectgifforally_zps6f6d7b93.gif

5."RIGHTEOUS" ... if I NEVER see this word in print ever again it will be too soon!

6. Ren saying "honey" (not badass enough. Sorry, Kristen!)

My one and only reason for even finishing this book is Ren:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The guy is PERFECT in every way. To say he could have done MUCH better than Ally would be a colossal understatement.

Let's face it, most of us don't read Kristen Ashley's books because of her heroines ... She never disappoints when it comes to her alphas though! This book was no exception. Ren = ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!

Best part of this book:

Stay tuned. We're gonna follow Mace and Stella to Los Angeles. 'Cause you can get up to all kinds of crazy there.

I am just praying Ally won't be a part of that crazy in ANY capacity.

Cheers!

What. the. hell. was. that?

Me before reading:

Me after reading:

I've always been a huge fan of KA but Rock Chick Revolution was not for me. At all.

Ally was as annoying as they come. She thought she was indestructible.

She loves to be in everybody's business but once someone tries to help her she shuts down. Like, really? It can't be a one-way street.
Ren... I don't even know how you were able to put up with her. I couldn't finish. Not even REN could make me finish. If it was me Ally was tossing back in forth and acting like a complete bitch to, I would have just said this:

Alas, it wasn't me, though.

After all those frustrations I couldn't even enjoy the writing or any of the other characters. I was just so done with this book, everything else could have been superb and I wouldn't have finished.

A sad, disappointing one star read for me.

My casting:

Ren

Ally

Buddy read with Kim, Irene, .Chel and Vera. Thanks girls!

5 Righteous stars!!

Because it wasn’t perfect, none of it. But it was a fairytale. And people needed to believe in fairytales. Even flawed ones. Maybe especially flawed ones. And they needed to believe always.

First off, I just want to let you all know that this review might a tad bit bias. See, I knew already going into this book what my rating is going to be. I never do that. But I’m making an exception here. It’s no secret that while the Rock Chicks Series may not be my favorite series among Kristen Ashley’s many, many series (That honor belongs to Colorado Mountains, by the way), it is the one closest to my heart. Plus, it’s no secret that I love Ally and Ren stole my heart during Rock Chick Revenge. So going into this I knew I won’t be able to give this book less than 5 stars. So bear with me here.

The Rock Chick Revolution is my most anticipated book from Kristen Ashley. Aside from the obvious that this is going to be last book from this series, this was also Ally’s book. Ally Nightingale is the second half of the original Rock Chick duo of Indy Savage and Ally Nightingale. They started it all. So it’s only fitting for them to get the first and the last installment in the series.

I loved Ally since the very beginning. I knew that there’s something different about her the moment she found Rosie when no one else, not even Lee could find him. I also knew her story wouldn’t follow the usual pattern of a Rock Chick finding her hot guy. For one, she’s a Nightingale. Anyone who has read the series knows what that means: BADASS. But she’s also girl and she’s a Rock Chick. Meaning, she should have her hot guy and her fairytale. Sadly, that didn’t happen for her or so she thought. So she watched all her friends got their hot guy and their fairytale thinking to herself it might not happen to her. But it did. Problem is he has no clue he was her fairytale come true.

Lorenzo “Ren” Zano was introduced to the series during Rock Chick Revenge. He was Luke Stark’s rival for Ava’s affection. While he didn’t succeed in getting Ava, he did succeed in getting himself noticed in a big way. And boy, did I notice Ren. He was just hot and a little mysterious. It was during that book that I knew that something is going on with Ally and him. Like the rest of the readers, I didn’t exactly know what it was but KA had set it up in a way to keep us guessing. And holy hell, did KA made us wait for this one. But in the end, it was totally worth the wait.

Badass and brave runs in the family. And as far as I’m concerned, I got those genes. It’s just that no one agrees with me.

I really loved the romance between Ally and Ren. The fact that he belongs to a crime family and she’s ‘tangled up in blue’ made their story more tenuous. Plus, there was this Ava angle that was resolved early on in the story. So this wasn’t your usual Rock-Chick-pushing-away-her-hot-guy set up. Ally did some pushing but only up to about 20% of the book. After that, she was pretty much in there with Ren. But there were other very legit reasons for them not to work. Ally’s dream of following in her brothers’ footsteps doesn’t sit well with Ren’s idea of a family life. And Ally being Ally wasn’t going to give an inch. Not only that, there is the fact that Ren is tangled up in some not-so clean business with his Uncle Vito.

“Anyone who would feel that badly about being mean and care so deeply about another human being’s fucked up life I knew was the woman for me. You gave me a run for my money, and once I stopped finding it a pain in my ass and started enjoying it, I did nothing but. I enjoyed every fuckin’ second, Ally. And every fuckin’ second I’ve never doubted how I was feeling. And just to be clear, how I was feeling, every day through this game we’ve been playing, was that I was falling deeper in love with you.”

But they did work and it was absolutely wonderful to watch. They both gave it their all. Ally accepting Ren and his background and Ren finally helping Ally realize her dream. I just loved it! There was drama, of course, but not too much. And unlike the others in the series, the ‘chase’ wasn’t drag out throughout the book. It was totally different. I found that refreshing to be honest. It was totally Ally and Ren.

“You do know you aren’t bullshitting me. There is no semi-sweet Ally. She’s pure honey all the way through.” I slid my fingers along the dark stubble at his jaw and whispered, “Don’t tell anybody.” “Baby, your secret’s safe with me.”

“So, I want a stay-at-home mom and you give me a badass PI. You accepted a wiseguy and got whatever I am. We’re a fuckin’ pair.”

And Ren was just…gawd…where do I even begin to describe Ren Zano? I mean, this guy just became my number KA hero ever. No joke. He was just perfect. Perfect for Ally and an all around wonderful hero. He was sweet, funny, hot, gorgeous, smart, thoughtful and he can cook. And he has a wonderfully dirty mouth that was a total contradiction to his choice of clothing: suits. He knows asshole but he also knows how to say sorry and admit he’s wrong. I wasn’t sure how he’s going to be with Ally knowing that he did make a play for Ava, but boy, he left no doubt whatsoever in my mind about what he feels for Ally. He was perfection! This book already has my 5 stars for Ren Zano alone.

“You really love me,” I whispered.
“Do not ever doubt it,” he whispered back.
“How did that happen?” I kept whispering.
“You accepted my devotion to the Bears only dishin’ out minimal shit.”

“I’m not a maximum contact sleeper, Ally. You are.”

“Never held a woman all night in my arms in my life… until you.”

“Baby, you take your clothes off right now, you do it to this song, for me. My guess, those four posts’ll hold. If you break the bed, I don’t give a fuck.”

“Bullshit, baby. I get you breathy and tell you I want your mouth, you’ll suck my cock deep so fast I won’t be able to blink.”

But Rock Chick Revolution isn’t just about the romance between Ally and Ren. It was as much about Ally finally finding her calling and taking a step towards fulfilling that. We know from the very first book that Ally pretty much bounced from one career to another. She tried almost everything, from doing nails, radio tech, barista and bartending before she realized that being a PI is what she wants to do. And she’s good at it. This didn’t sit well with the men in her family who thinks that this PI business will put her life in danger. Ally being Ally fought for her dreams. I just loved seeing the Nightingale family dynamics came into play in this book. It was touching and I have to admit that I’ve shed a healthy amount of tears during Ally’s interaction with her family about her choice of career. Maybe because I personally related to that. I know how it feels to have to fight for something you want. And Ally wanted it all. She wanted her fairytale and a kickass career. As a woman, I had to salute her for that.

When you’re a kid and a girl, dads had superpowers. They could heal any hurt, usually with a word said just like that one. Or, if shit was extreme, if he added a hug, it would all go away. My dad’s superpowers were finely honed. But they didn’t extend to this kind of healing.

I know others might not feel the same way about this but for me, this is what separates RCR from the other Rock Chick books. Don’t get me wrong, I loved them all. Mostly. But this one has that element of being more character driven than the others. Explosions, kidnapping, ditzy heroines, long-suffering heroes are all trademarks in every single Rock Chick book. They are more prominent in some but that element was always there. It wasn’t really present here at all, or at least I didn’t see it. For one, Ally was a capable lead character. She didn’t suffer from the usual indecisions that plagued the other Rock Chicks. Meaning, she didn’t get herself into love triangles, squares or anything. She was also more cautious and level-headed. She took calculated risks which paid off for her. This means less explosions, less kidnapping, zero sex talk and not a cat fight in sight and none of the Rock Chicks get use their taser gun. For those who were expecting the usual Rock Chick craziness, this would be a boring read.

I kid you not. The Ally we met during first book grew up to be a capable young woman who learned to roll with the punches, took care of her business without complaints. I for one loved it. It’s different, yes, but not necessarily bad. I’d even say I’m happy with the direction KA has taken with this book. Totally righteous.

Fave Moments, Quotes, Secondary Characters, etc…

- Darius and Ally’s partnership. I cannot do a RCR review without mentioning Darius. He played a big part in Ally and Ren’s story. He was the first person who believed in Ally, but then Ally continued to believe in him even he had lost his way. I knew their relationship was special during RC 1 when Ally reached out to him. I got emotional when I read Darius story and I can’t wait to get to his story. It’s going to be awesome for sure.

“I love what I do. I’m going to love doing it for a living. But the thing I love most is that you always believed in me.” Darius held my eyes a beat before he looked down to the seat. When he lifted his eyes again, I took in a hissed breath at the unconcealed pain there.
“And I love it that you always believed in me,” he whispered.

- Hank, Lee and Ally’s relationship. Fascinating. We finally get an in-depth look at the dynamics of their relationship. Lee and Hank, the big brothers any sister should have. They were overbearing, protective, bossy and they love Ally very much, it’s practically leaked off the pages.
- Loved that dinner when Vito invited himself and the whole Zano clan. LOL! The Capulet and Montague reference was spot on.
- Daisy and Shirleen. Oh Daisy was wonderful here. She was always wonderful but she really came through for Ally and Ren. Plus her interactions with Shirleen were hilarious. And Shirleen was her same awesome self. Totally glad she had Ally’s back.

“Not with you, with you, like, in the field. I’m gonna be Shirleen to your Lee.”

“Oh no, child,” Shirleen entered the conversation. “You got a choice spot here. You don’t move some old desk into it, slap a computer on the top and say ‘I’m in business.’ You gotta send the right message. And that message is you ain’t Rockford. You’re Allyson Nightingale, a fine piece of badass ass with class who can take care of biz-nezz.”

- The Rock Chick/Hot Bunch wedding assignations. Cloakroom or handicap bathroom? LMAO!
- Luke and Ava’s wedding, and Luke doing some vertical dancing. Finally!!
- Tex. ‘Nuff said.
- Castle night and Ren thinking Ally watches the show because the lead female looks like her when it was actually Nathan Fillion she was perving on. LOL!
- Rock Chick tours. Where can I sign up for that?
- Ren. Yes, Ren again. Ren doing just about anything; Ren in his pajama bottoms, Ren in a suit, Ren calling Ally baby, Ren smiling, Ren being a badass, Ren losing his temper, Ren cooking, Ren talking, Ren…oh, you get my drift.
- The Epilogue. Totally KA, totally sweet—or should I say, bittersweet.

Final Thoughts…

That said, this book isn’t perfect. Not by a long shot. There were things I would have wanted to know more of like the Zano family angle for example. I wanted more of it but I didn’t get it. I was looking forward to Ren dealing with his side of the family the way Ally dealt with hers. Another thing I feel ambiguous about, was the way real life found it’s way into the pages of RCR. Yeah, it was funny but I wasn’t quite sure it totally worked for me. I found myself cringing every time it came up. Third, we hardly heard a peep from Indy or the rest of the Rock Chicks for that matter. I understood why but I kinda missed the sex talk between the girls and their crazy powwows. Fourth, there were way too many people calling each other honey for me. Fifth, Ally's cases were too random. It was too all over the place. I would have liked it more if the book only has one major bad guy to deal with but that wasn't the case.

And yet, in spite of those issues, I truly loved this book. For me, it had the right amount of romance and badassness combined. And I loved how KA tied all the loose end together at the same time preparing us for the spin-off series. A wonderfully bittersweet ending to a series that is so very dear to my heart. I shed a tear or two knowing that this series is over. And while we have something to look forward to in LA, I’m going to miss staying in Denver. I truly am. >*sniff

Rock on! \m/

4 Rock Chicks, Fairytales and Kristen Ashley Stars

Rock Chick Series: A motley crew of cops and crooks, bounty hunters and baristas, PIs and rock stars, hot guys and Rock Chicks.

description

It's been 2 long days since I've finished this last installment in the unique and amazing Rock Chick Series by Kristen Ashley and I still feel like I left behind my best friends. I couldn't bring myself to write a review. I was trying to prolong a goodbye that warmed and kinda broke my heart.

description

This the book that all the gang in Fortnum's, downtown Denver and KA Universe have been expecting. The Allyson "Ally" Nightingale - Lorenzo “Ren” Zano story. We got teased with, exasperated and despaired and now finally, we get them. Flawed, beautiful, and sexy, unashamedly their own.

description

I won't get into any more details about the plot, the relationship, the backstory. Suffice it to say that Kristen didn't hold anything back and didn't disappoint. In true KA fashion she went all out. Descriptions, characters, plots and sub-plots, emotions and sexy times. What we love to hate and we adore in her. The Rock Chick phenomena is all there to see, because this is Ally's story and she is the Original Rock Chick.

"Indy may be their foundation, Daisy and Shirleen the emotional support. But you’re the backbone.”

Crazily, passionate, beloved, adorable, stubborn and cute, Ally is the sister that exasperates you, the best friend that gets you into trouble, the girlfriend that keeps your hand full. Hell, I want to be Ally when I grow up!

description

And then there is the most epic lines in the history of one-liners...

“Who’s this Kristen Ashley person?”

description

So, as we are leaving the Rock Chicks behind but never far from our heart, let's see what life lessons we got from them, to lead us in a life of happiness, love and companionship.

That's all folks... A chapter ending but a new journey begins. I believe in Kristen to lead us in new exciting paths, where love prevails and it is OK to a be a little crazy. That's life anyway, don't compromise. Set your self free and make the others accept what you have to offer.

Thank you Kristen Ashley! You are amazing!

This is the most unconventional in the series I feel like. Ally Nightingale could be one of the Charlie’s Angels. Unlike the other heroines, she doesn’t need protection because she does the protecting—much to her macho badass brothers’ dismay. She does whatever she wants, gets into other people’s problems and solves them. Not even Ren Zano could rein her in, which surprised me honestly.

Especially when Ally freakin’ STRIPPED at a night club, and Ren didn’t even give her lip. I mean, he wasn’t exactly thrilled, but he was also pretty laid back about it. He’s a sweetheart all around—though sometimes can be scary and intimidating too. His only flaw I’d say is that he needs to up his game in the petnaming business. Seriously, if I never hear the word honey again, that would be too soon.

(Read as an Audiobook)

4 Rock Chick Stars!

Rock Chick Revolution photo b1e17257-5c87-4467-ac69-2057bbf2cb06_zps840f118e.jpg

Ally Nightingale has seen all of her Rock Chick friends fall in love. With members of the Hot Bunch. When will it be her turn? The problem is it’s already happened. Ally has fallen in love with Ren Zano. Ally and Ren have secretly been together for about a year. Well, together is code for having sex. As much as Ally loves Ren, she has to protect herself. She can’t let him know there are any real feelings there. But it’s safe to say he figures it out mostly on his own..
“How many times do I have to tell you? We’re fuck buddies, Zano.”
He shook his head again, his thumb sweeping across my cheek and his face getting so close to mine, his lips nearly brushed my own.
“No, baby , we are not. I’ve had fuck buddies, Ally. And not one of them looked like you look when I slide inside you, every fucking time I slide inside you. Like a piece of you has been lost and now it’s found.”
Oh crap.
I probably looked just like that

This back and fourth Ally/Ren drama took up a decent bit of the first 20-30%. It drove me a little crazy. Ally worked my patience at the beginning. Once that was done and over with, it’s safe to say that I LOVED this book!

Ally Nightingale is a Nightingale through and through. That pretty much means she is a badass.

Rock Chick Revolution photo bd5bfd86-b9bc-4d93-8042-75591e890ad9_zpsd9728250.jpg

Ally’s been doing her own thing, undercover for a while now. None of the Rock Chicks know, but it’s her passion. She wants to be a P.I. and she’s good at it. Her brothers are worried, but she has someone always there to back her up, someone on her side... Darius Tucker. Getting more of Darius and his story was a real treat.

Then we have Ren Zano. Ren is not officially a member of the Hot Bunch, but he’s pretty damn hot!

Rock Chick Revolution photo 84e3b7cb-079e-4133-8da5-6f2476997158_zps0a096500.jpg

Ren works with his Uncle Vito and cousin Dom (both of which we met in Ava’s book). Ren used to have a thing for Ava, but she’s with Luke now. And ever since he met and hooked up with Ally, Ava has been the last thing on his mind. He wants Ally. More than just a hook up, more than just a fuck buddy. He wants Ally to be his woman. It takes a while for him to get through to Ally, but once they figure it out... ♥

Rock Chick Revolution photo fcadc0eb-7fc0-4e48-98cc-10d1f44a8fcb_zps2d3ec842.jpg

I adored Ren and Ally’s relationship. They both accepted each other for who they were. They appreciated one another, and they were probably the funniest Rock Chick couple.

The FUNNY
Guys don’t do the mall
“You seem to have an aversion to the mall.”
His answer to that was, “Do I have a dick?”
I felt my lips curl up and I replied , “Yes, baby. You have a dick.”
“Then, yeah. I got an aversion to the mall.”

Tex is always hilarious!
“Yo, Tex. Whats up?”
His eyes moved over my hair then back to me and he noted, “I think sex in a public place is illegal.”
“Thats only a problem if you get caught.” I returned.
“This, the Ally Nightingale Life Philosophy,” he muttered on a low boom.

Truth ;)
“My people are Italian, loud and fuckin’ crazy,” Ren whispered to me. “And still, your people beat mine by a mile.”

The SEXY
“Go clean up. That went fast. I wanna eat you and fuck you again before you learn how to bypass security systems.”

My man got close to my back and his mouth came to my ear where he said quietly, “Hurry this shit up, baby, ‘cause what you got last night after I watched you slide down a pole upside down while straddling it is gonna be nothin’ to what I give you tonight watchin’ you be badass.”
I turned and glared up at him. “Don’t turn me on while I’m working, Zano.”
His lips quirked.
“Jesus,” Mace muttered.

“You’re just saying that so I’ll kiss you,” I replied.
“No. I’m sayin ’ it ‘cause it’s true. Though, I’m also sayin’ it so you’ll kiss me. But mostly I’m sayin’ it so you’ll fuck me.”
The SWEET
“Do you love me, Ally?” he asked in his sweet voice.
I stared into his eyes. I drew in a breath.
Then I answered, “Yes, Ren. I love you.”

I absolutely adore these Nightingale brothers...
He put his lips to my ear and said, “He hurts you, I’ll fuck him up.”
Loved my big brother.

“People mean something. Memories mean something. Things mean nothing.”

“You’re not a badass with me. You’ve let me into that place in you that you don’t give anybody. So you don’t put up that shield to hold me back when shit’s important. You’re you. You’re Ally. And I’m Ren.”

“Take me as I am.”

Rock Chick Revolution photo 17795818-5b8d-4dc7-9eec-b8e0b2f1c010_zps72f78310.jpg

The reason this one wasn’t a five star read: I struggled with Ally and Ren’s story at very first. It took a little while for Ally to grow on me, but she did. Ally is fearless, independent, but when it comes to her work, she is smart, not reckless. Ren.... I can’t even describe my feelings for this man! He was beyond alpha, hot, sexy swoony, just all around KA perfection! Ren became so sweet, understanding, and supportive of Ally. He really is her perfect match.

The ending... amazing! That was a fantastic epilogue, not just for Ally and Ren, but the entire crew.

What can I say about these Rock Chick books... I am SO sad to see this series end. This family of characters will forever be some of my favorite people. A family. That is exactly what these characters are. Some of the hottest guys, the funnest chicks, and most amazing side characters. You will want to crawl in their world and live there. If you haven’t read this series, you are missing out!!!

Oh Geez…I nearly blubbered on the train

OK…so my Sassy life has had a few changes. The first one being that I got myself a wee little job. It’s only casual, pretty laid back and just what this chicky needed seeing as she has been out of the workforce for 13 YEARS. Anyways…the number one perk – I have half an hour each way travel time on the train. YAY!!! This gives me more time to listen to my audio. Rock Chick Revolution will now hold a fond memory as my first audio when I returned to work. It certainly helped with my first day at work nerves considering I was consumed with worry that Ren didn’t know why Ally wasn’t willing to take their relationship to the next level. I now needed to learn how to keep a poker face when the – Ooh Ahh, “Ren”…’s or the Faster Baby…’s came and went. I had to keep my grin off my face for all the - Geez Ally, you’re a pain in my ass…’s and the Smithy chats or the Tex booms. The hardest one by far was today…I had to hide my face and get my sunnies out as I nearly burst into tears when Darius’s world seemed to fall apart. I can honestly tell you work sure doesn’t seem so bad when the coming and going means I get to spend time in KA world.

The first time I read Rock Chick Revolution I was a little disappointed. Ally, just didn’t live up to my expectations. I mean, seriously, she was an original Rock Chick and I thought her story would be all about her meeting the man of her dreams and he’d rock her world and carry her off into the sunset… In typical Ally style, she doesn’t want to be like the other Rock Chicks, she wants to be a badass and have her hero let her be the woman she was meant to be. So, knowing that, in my listen, I decided to give Ally the benefit of the doubt and hear her instead of judging her. We aren’t all alike. There isn’t one mould that every heroine should fit into. A woman has every right to be tough, strong and career driven. The one thing I buried my head in the sand about and refused to acknowledge the first time I read was that she wasn’t stupid. She knew her boundaries and limitations. If she didn’t think her badass capabilities were up to scratch, she called for back up and waited. She didn’t rush in guns blazing and hoping for the best. Maybe, there was a place for a Rock Chick in the Hot Bunch world. Yes, it took a little convincing to get Lee to let her in, but none of them could deny that she played a pivotal role by being a woman who could hold her own AND think…AT THE SAME TIME.

By the end of my listening, I was converted. I’m not sure how or why the audio makes thing different, but it does. Three of the Rock Chick books that I thought were alright as reads became really great listening to them. Maybe because it takes time to listen to an audio and you can’t help but be consumed while listening. It could have a wee bit to do with the sensational job that Susannah Jones does. She is by far my favourite female narrator. I don’t care that she might not get the accents perfect, her voice and inflection were perfect to me.

Ally may not have been my favourite Rock Chick but Ren was an awesome hero for her. Man, this guy, he makes your heart flutter with his sweet words one minute, then he has your temperature sky rocketing with his sexy moves. One of my favourite parts though is when someone gets in the face of his woman. Geez, I don’t like violence normally, but I would pay MONEY to see someone “deal” with a man like Ren does. That scene…on their first date…OH MY LORDY!! I was on the train…and squirming…and blushing…and the sexy times afterwards…OH MY LORDY!!

Anyways…I ended up loving the audio of Rock Chick Revolution and I’m so disappointed that I haven’t got any left to explore. Maybe I should go back to the beginning again…

Admittedly, I've been putting this book off for a while.

My feels:

I'm never going to experience another Rock Chick ride.
I'm never going to see their children grow up, hear about their ridiculous acts of rebellion, listen to Tex's booming voice or Shirleen's catty remarks.
I'm never going to picture Daisy's next show-stopping outfit as Dolly Parton or hear her tinkling bells giggle.
I'm never going to enter Smithie's bar again.
I'm never going to witness the abuse of yet another Fortnum's customer.

I want to read about another member of the Hot Bunch.
I need another Rock Chick to face the world armed with only a stun gun.
I'm going to miss them inexplicably.

Hole. In. My. Freaking. Heart.

Thank you, Jane, for everything. (My eyes are getting hot right now)

3.5 Rock Chick Stars

My Ally and Ren

Sigh, it's the end of the Rock Chick books, no more craziness. Bummer!! I wish this one would have ended the series better, but just didn't quite live up to my high expectations. To me, this book didn't have the full impact of the Rock Chicks humor and downright craziness that I have come to expect from them. The Hot Bunch, well, they never dissappoint.

Even though this was a slight disappointment, I still very much enjoyed Ally and Ren's story and finding their fairytale. Plus, we got to learn a lot more about the secretive Darius.

Now we get to look forward to the spin off series taking place in LA with Stella and Mace.

Fabulous Buddy Read with Ness, Krystal, AprilA and Irene. Thanks my beautiful ladies!!

I won this book from the wonderful moderators of Feeding the Kindle Addiction with Hot Freebies. Thanks ladies!!

4 Stars! A little slow to move forward at times, but still...loads of fun. I'm sorry to see this series end. Love me some REN!!! RAWRRRRRR!

Splage and Karla’s Joint Review posted at Swept Away By Romance

What worked
Splage:
Once again Kristen Ashley’s style of rough and tender romance with a large quantity of “aweing sighs” was ever present in Rock Chick Revolution. I loved the deep connection that was built between Ren and Ally and there was definitely some role reversal, but it was alll gooood! Ren was a smoother and more polished KA hero, but he did have his alpha, caveman moments that satisfied my inner damsel. Now Ally was a less needy heroine. She was more daring, but growing up with a cop dad, Hank and Lee Nightingale as brothers who could really blame her. The brother/sister relationship was almost as powerful to me as Ren and Ally’s love story. The fierce protectiveness and the over the top controlling behavior that especially Lee displayed was heartwarming (and infuriating).

What also worked was the ever-present Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch that were constantly woven throughout the story. They were more than secondary characters in RC Revolution, because when they entered the picture, their mannerisms and dialog would trigger and bring back their own unforgettable stories that I loved.

Karla: A lot of the book takes place in Fortnum’s, the official Rock Chick home base, so, pretty much all the characters from the previous books flowed in and out of the story. Being that the Hot Bunch has the place wired, sound and audio, they keep an eye on their women, and when things go haywire…which is damn near every day, that delicious bunch of hotties, one or all of them, swoop in to save the day ; a little dessert to go along with the coffee.

How Ally’s story intertwined with her brothers, Lee and Hank. She is a Nightingale after all, and it made sense that she would follow in their footsteps, much to their dismay. The fought her at every turn, didn’t make it easy for her, but they did it out of love, they wanted to protect their baby sister. Ally never backed down, not only is she Rock Chick…she’s a bad-ass too!!

Ren’s willingness to support Ally was the highlight of the book for me. He comes to the realization that he needs to make changes in his thinking and life to accommodate her, so she can live her dream. Ren stands by his woman! Among the crazy, was this incredibly sweet love and romance between Ally and Ren, they compromise, commit to each other and it was ‘golden’.

What didn’t work
Splage:
What didn’t work is relative when it comes to KA for me. I am a believer in the KA style; alphas, their crazy women, the usually one “break up” scene, the utter chaos with returning characters, the raw and brash sex scenes, the last part of the book being an action scene climax AND of course the beautiful epilogue. All of her elements were there, but I wanted more conflict in the love department for Ren and Ali, more heartfelt dialog, more uncertainty building to their HEA. It was all a little too easy for me, since about halfway through they were a sure thing.

Karla: In all honesty, as much as I enjoyed Ren and Ally’s sexually intimate scenes, it seemed to be the sole focus of their relationship for a good part of the book. I would have preferred more of them interacting just as a normal couple doing normal things. But, then again, we’re talking Rock Chicks here and nothing they do is normal. They always go big, and if they do something, anything, it’s over the top…and they do “it” a lot with their scrumptious significant others.

Best scenes
Splage:
The APOLOGY scene, yes you read me correctly; a hot, badass can say they are sorry even though they speak “asshole” fluently. It was sweet, it was shocking, and it was so Ren, a man who could rock a suit, cook a five star Italian meal and then rock-n-roll all night long…A CLASS ACT all the way.

Karla: The ones where Kristen Ashley talks about the fictitious Kristen Ashley. Enough about that, you’ll just have to read it to see what I’m talking about.

Luke and Ava’s wedding and his gift to her, nothing material, just a very special moment in time as only KA can do…*sigh*!! No one writes these memorable romantic scenes like Kristen Ashley. Plus…weddings put people in the ‘mood’, and all the couples were seeking out a hidey-hole to satisfy the ‘mood’…it was pretty funny.

Favorite characters
Splage:
FINALLY Ally Nightingale showed up! Ally was there is the beginning when I was first introduced to Kristen Ashley and Indy’s partner in crime. She was a part of the original Rock Chick duo. I kept waiting and waiting for her story and it was perfect that KA ended the series with her. I think what I loved about Ally was her “thinking like a man” mentality when it came to her work; she had the Nightingale instincts bred into her even though all the men in her life wanted her out of the business. She didn’t back down, she was willing to give them all up to do what she was born to be. She also could rock the shoes, the outfit, and the girl time.

Another favorite was Daisy and Darius. They were her biggest supporters (and at times comic relief). Daisy, with her Dolly Parton flair and her motherly instincts, encouraged Ally and became a part of her business. I am still chuckling over her and Shirleen’s bickering over filing responsibilities. Also Darius was a stand out for me because he supported Ally’s ambition and always had her back. I am really looking forward to his story as a new series begins.

Karla: Ren!! I adored him! Although he’s not an official member of the Hot Bunch, he’s got the goods, no doubt about it, and I love how he catered to Ally! I think that’s what made him so appealing and one of my favorite heroes, not just in this series, but among the vast number of scrumptious men that KA has given us in her many books. He was everything you could ask for in a man…perfect…SWOON!!!

Tex!! What a treat to have him so much of him in this story. He was a character that I fell in love with in book 1, Rock Chick. He’s loud, proud, tells it like it is, protective, a little crazy…okay a lot crazy, but deep down he’s a teddy bear of a man and has a huge heart. He can boss me around and toss any obscenity my way, as long as he makes me one of his coffee concoctions.

Overall Thoughts
Splage:
I knew the Rock Chick saga had to end and for a Rock Chick addict like me it was a very satisfying end to the series. I feel like crying though. These characters have been with me for 4 years and they were REAL!! I laughed and cried throughout each of their stories. Some were stand out favorites and all were truly loved. ROCK ON! ~ 4.25 Stars!

Karla: While Rock Chick Revolution is not my favorite in the series, that honor goes to Rock Chick Renegade and Rock Chick Reckoning, this book certainly had its own appeal. It was a culmination of what we loved in the prior books, a walk down memory lane, and a chance to be with our friends again.

I’m sad, very sad. I hate to see this series end, but I think Kristen Ashley is bowing out at the right time. She ended it with another beautiful signature epilogue, and as I turned the last page…no kidding…I gasped and then cried. I know these characters aren’t lost to me, I just have to pick up any book in the series and they will always be there, but the tears flowed nonetheless.

So to the Queen of Rock Chicks...this reader and die-hard Rock Chick...says thank you!! It’s been a helluva ride! ~ 4 Stars!

A quick shout-out to my girl Splage. Thank you for doing this review with me; you are a true Rock Chick sister of my heart!

His eyes were this beautiful espresso color, so rich and deep, thick dark hair…he was like a rock star without the guitar. My Lorenzo “Ren” Zano…RAWRRRR!!

Missing the Rock Chicks (along with the Hot Bunch) so I decided to revisit Ren, Ally, and Darius. I think I loved it even more then when I originally read it in August 2013.

Another 5 Star KA Read!!!!

I loved Ren & Ally's book!! My emotions were all over the place on this one but I suspect a lot of that had to do with the fact that I was reading the last RC Book. But as my lovely friend Karla reminded me and everyone who read her and Splage's wonderful review..."all we need to do is pick up our books and they are still with us".

Ally is one "righteous" Rock Chick! And Ren....I have no words (he's no Luke Rock Chick Revenge or Hector Rock Chick Regret but he's pretty damn close!!).

I loved Ally and Darius' relationship and no matter what was going on (or how pissed they were at each other) they had each other's backs and even happier that we had insight into Darius' past and future through the amazing epilogue !!!

Darius said, "your a pain in the ass." He so totally loved me.
"Good" I replied on a smile. "That's what I strive to be".
"Woman trust me. You’re succeeding beyond your wildest dreams."

I will miss my Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch! For me, Rock Chick Revolution was bittersweet, the conclusion of a series I have truly enjoyed. Ally finally gets her man, and while she drove me a bit crazy, I enjoyed her and Ren's story.

5 I-Don’t-Want-This-Book-To-Be-The-End Stars!

description
Let me just get this straight: This is a hard review to write. A very hard one.
Okay, moving on.

Finally (FINALLY!) we get to Ally’s story. Being one of the most important supportive characters is nice to finally meet her love story.
And with nothing less than Lorenzo “Ren” Zano. Yes, the hot Italian alpha-male. (You remember him from Luke and Ava’s story.)
Ally is a Nightingale, so the badassess is in her blood, and she’s settled on making that her life, shocking the hell out of her parents, her brothers and of course… the Rock Chicks.
And she shocks another person: Ren, whom she’s been keeping a secret non-strings-attached relationship for almost a year. (Well, non-strings-attached for her. Ren is very settled on making it official.)
And well, between the usual action and drama, Ally’s going to get an awesome journey to her HEA with her own alpha-male guy.
First let me tell you about Ren:

description

Lee is still my favorite alpha-male. Indy and Lee are still my favorite couple. But while Luke and Ava’s were still my favorite story so far, it was replaced by Ally’s and Ren story. And Ren is my solid number two alpha-male in this series.
Ally pissed me off in the beginning, but I end up warming up to her. (Expect I probably don't want to read or hear EVER AGAIN, the word righteous.)
And I’ve got to confess: I cried in the end. Not because it was bad, it wasn’t. That epilogue was down-right perfect.
I cried because I can’t believe this was the end. I will miss these people like crazy.
Even now… hours and hours after I finished it, I’m still feeling nostalgic.
So this is me, right now:

3.5 Righteous Stars

The story
Ally Nightingale the last Rock chick to find herself her own HOTbunch Alpha man. She has secrets that no-one knows except for 1. Darius her friend and 2. Ren the Hot Italian Sexy man who has her heart, back in Rock chick Revenge(Luke and Ava's story) We meet Ren who's there as part of Ava's protection and in that time Ally knows that Ren has feelings for Ava but obviously Ava chooses Luke and they live happily ever after....
On one of those eventful nights Ally and Ren come to an 'Agreement' to be Fuck buddies to use each other or so Ally assumes Ren wants because she doesn't want his 2nd best she wants her forever, the other half to herself, her Badass Man and she refuses to belive that maybe just maybe he wants the same, so Fuck buddies is what they become. They argue, they fight, they make up, they Fuck but never do they go on dates and get to know each other. As there story unfolds, Ren push's Ally and makes her realize that Ren does want more and to give them a chance......

REN
 photo ren4_zps42de63ea.jpg
 photo null_zpsc1d9e281.jpg

Ok Ren made it for me with this story, he's a HOT, Alpha, Italian, Sexy, Macho man. He knows what he wants and he wants to keep her. He's also sweet(really does that go with Alpha?) Yes because he's compassionate, loving, protective.. do I need to go on? his family have the 'business' and that's where his family and Ally's have to work together and put that aside to let Ren and Ally work it out on there own! I really loved him.

ALLY
 photo allynightingale_zps22642fd6.jpg
 photo rockchick2_zps6a8af336.png

Ok Ally Ally fucking Nightingale, now she wouldn't be a rock chick if she didn't fight, didn't have strength to push away and fight to be with this man would she? Once she lets Ren in it flows nicely, gradually but slowly and this story was essentially about Ally not just the romance between Ren and her but about who she wants to be, where she wants to be, and how she's going to become it??

So this is where you say hang on then it all sounds good, why only 3.5 star's
Right here's why, I have pretty much loved all these stories barr from Jett in book two(if you've read Jet and Eddie's story then your sure to understand why, although she makes up for it in all the others as a fab secondary character)I love the Rock chicks, I am in love with the HOT bunch especially Mace, Vance, Hector and Luke, and when you read these Rock chick stories they run away with you they're action packed, fun, sexy, hot, Tex has made me smile and laugh out loud many a time, these stories are about love, family, friendships and when you read these fantastic books they just make you happy I couldn't put them down they got darker as they go on, more intense and to explain myself I would say each have a part to play, they're like a jigsaw puzzle that fits together bit by bit. So reading Ally and Rens story I found there to be something missing, it just didn't give me that edge that there was in the others there's a little drama but not a lot and it was slow for me. Maybe that's just me, so don't let me put you off because as a series as a whole they're AH-mazing but this lacked that umph where I was at the end of my seat holding on for dear life, it never came and I really wanted something to happen more so than it did. As a end of series book I was soooooo excited maybe I had too high expectations!! It was good and I did like it just didn't love it.

Ok moving on who and what I loved
Lee nightingale-his love for his wife and his love for Ally to protect his little sister to want her to be happy to protect her even though Hank is also Allys older brother the moments and times Lee had with Ally I loved those insights into there relationship.
Indy- Best friends and sisters she definitely grew on me as time went on.
Darius- loved seeing into his life and seeing him happy.
The HOTbunch- what's there to say except they're mightyyyy FIIINNEEEE...
The Rock chicks are all pretty awesome, all strong, all beautiful all full of fun.
Tex and his coffee-yup happy times.
All the parents and there love for there children, be it that the men are all Alpha and women independent, they all played there part.

Anyway hope you take the time to read these fun, sexy, reads full of Alpha hotness ...... ROCK ON

"...sometimes way exciting, sometimes hilarious, sometimes not a small amount of insane— but the end was always good. The guy got his girl, the girl got her guy, and everyone was happy."

and what a fucking ending it was, Rock Chick Revolution was special because it truly was a gift from the Alpha queen herself to us readers. One quote, although she probably wasn’t intending for me to use it in this sense, but it totally fit exactly what I feel about the entire Rock Chick series
"I knew I’d found it. Something big, bold, bountiful and amazing. Something that wasn’t about meatloaf and missionary sex."

There is nothing to say because it is bitter sweet, I will have to deal with the fact that I won’t be getting anymore one-on-one time with the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch, but I definitely am looking forward to all the cameo’s. Rock Chick was one of the first series I read of KA and it just spiraled into a love for everything righteous.

The first Rock Chick was Indy but Ally was there through it all, and it was perfect for her to end with her. Ren and Ally’s story happened along the same time as some of the other Rock Chicks but Ally being her badass self, held out the longest in letting her man claim her as his.
"Indy may be their foundation, Daisy and Shirleen the emotional support. But you’re the backbone."

Ren even though he looked like he stepped out of the cover of GQ, should not be underestimated his Alphaness, he’s right up there with Lee and the rest of the Hot Bunch when it comes to laying down the law.

But in light of all the drama, it was beautiful, it was sweet, it was hilarious and it made me happy and it made me cry. This is not a series that I would EVER forget, a series that I don’t ever feel like I have to re-read all the past books just to prepare for the latest book because it is a part of me and I am forever grateful!

Although Ren and Ally’s story at times got a bit too much and you wanted to smack them for being such lolo-birds, it was the story as a whole with the rest of the group that got to me most. I have to say though, I hope she comes out with a family tree, because keeping up with all the baby making was pretty damn hard … lol

3.5 Rock Chick Worthy Stars

"You do know you aren't bullshitting me. There is no semi-sweet Ally. She's pure honey all the way through."

What can I say? I think I officially have a new favorite Rock Chick! This particular Kristen Ashley series has never been a favorite of mine. First we had Indy making some idiotic choices with regards to...well, common sense in general AND fighting her feelings for the hotness that is Lee. THE HOTNESS THAT IS LEE!!! And she'd been in love with him since she was five and he held her hand at her mother's funeral! Then Jet falls HARD for Eddie. Sweet, caring and sexy as all get out Eddie. That man still holds a special place in my book boyfriend heart. Did Jet surrender to Eddie's considerable charms easily? Hell no, it took approximately 85% of that damn book for her to admit her feelings. And On and On we go, through every Rock Chick and every Hot Bunch piece of ass.

Ally's special. She's watched and learned from her Rock Chick brethren and she's witnessed the stupid choices they've made. She's also wished for a Hot Bunch kind of love for herself. Ally and Ren had some initial issues to work out, but once that stuff was sorted :D they were good to go. They both knew what they wanted and didn't hesitate in sharing.

This was our way. One place I absolutely didn't mind Ren being bossy and domineering was in bed. And he was both, he'd never been anything but both, and I got off on it.

I loved Ren and Ally together. It was an actual give and take relationship. They talked, they fought and they listened. Was Ren as supremely alpha as most of the other Rock Chick's pieces? No. It still worked for me in a big way. Ren's so hot that he could give his girl the business and still make her a fabulous breakfast, with tater tots no less! And besides, Ren's plain HOT!

What didn't work for me was the rest of the story. I love the idea of Ally becoming her own boss and going into business for herself, but that happened mighty quick. Her first REAL paying job is . Everything else seemed to happen in the last 20% of the book. There's a Darius storyline that deserves better than that! Not to mention Ally's stalker.

I love Kristen Ashley. Love her. That being said, I don't want her mentioned as a "NY Times Best Selling Author" in her own book, even if that was supposed to be Jane's gig. It took me out of the story and I didn't like it. I also missed the status quo "Rock Chick" interaction in this one. There was a whole lot of Ally coming into her own, which I honestly loved, but not a lot of help from her friends.

Finally, I want to mention the epilogue. It was awesome!!! Ain't no epilogue like A KA epilogue. The thought of all of these couples reproducing like rabbits is a righteous thing!

Re-read June 2019

Still a 5 star read for me. ❤

5 FANTASTIC-BRILLIANT-SHINY STARS!

I LOVED this story! I laughed (a lot) and cried (also, a lot), and absolutely enjoyed the righteous ride of Ally's story.

I've had a couple of days to finally get the time and my mind set to write (I think) a 'decent' review.. well one I hope will do Kristen Ashley, and the book justice.

Let me just start out by showing you 'My' Ren

Lorenzo (Ren) Zano: Described by Ally as her "Hot Italian American Boyfriend".

and Ally

Ally Nightingale: Is a "Rock Chick" to the core. She takes the backs of her crew like her blood flows through her veins. Indy is the foundation, Daisy and Shirleen are the emotional support, but Ally is the backbone. She also comes from a line of men who are Badasses and Brave. Her grandad, dad, and older brother (Hank) were/are all cops, and her other older brother (Lee) is ... well just a professional badass. As far as Ally's concerned, she has those same genes, it's just no one else agrees with her.
Two years ago when Indy got into trouble, Ally didn't hesitate to step in to help her. She's never been one to shy away from trouble, and if she was honest, she happily waltzed right in. That started a lot of stuff... some bad, but most of it was awesome.
That's when the bug bit her. She was good at this investigative stuff. It came natural to her, so she kept doing it. Along the way she created her own network. One of her partners is Darius (he's a PI who works for Lee) and the other is Brody (a computer genius.. who also works for Lee).

This story starts the day after Breathe ended. Ally has just saved her friend Faye from being buried alive. Ren and Darius have followed Ally to help her with the rescue, but by saving Faye, Ally has now put herself on the grid. This rescue was big, and the people behind burying Faye are big players in Colorado's crime scene.

Now Ally Ren are in bed, and Ren is giving Ally 'The Talk'.

**Ally and Ren have been dancing around each other for over a year. For the last 8 months however, Ren is trying to convince Ally that they're more than "fuck buddies"

In which He starts if off by saying, "You dabble in this shit, Ally. It isn't your life. It's a pastime...." Ally doesn't hear much of anything else Ren says, because she stuck on the dabble part.

Ally proceed to explain to Ren that she really likes investigating. That's she finally found her calling in life, and she doesn't want to stop, but make it official.
Ren then asks Ally to go to Luke Ava's wedding (Rock Chick Revenge) with him, to which she responds by TOTALLY freaking out.

... You see, the first time Ren Ally spent the night together it was right after Ren and Luke got into a fight. Ally invited Ren out for drinks, and once she gets to know Ren she thinks that she has found "The One". With Ally growing up as a 'Nightingale' she has always been tough, and has never been into that 'girly romantic shit', but with Ren she felt a deep connection and seemed to finally be at peace. So as she was cuddling into Ren thinking 'happy thoughts', Ren's face burrowed into the back of her neck and he murmured sleepily, "Ava". Ally freezes, shuts down, takes one final look at him, taking in all that is him, and feels something die in her. In one night Ren made Ally believe in a modern-day fairytale. The kind of dreams her other "Rock Chick" friends had all experienced, and had have come true. And he made her want it too.
Ava. Hearing that one word, and he took it all away. So Ally grabbed her stuff and left.

.. So when Ren asks Ally to go to Luke and Ava's wedding with him, she can't believe it, and that's the final straw. She. was. done. with him!
She accuses him of still having a 'thing' for Ava, and she mentions the few times she's seen him look at Ava with a 'soft' look on his face over the last year.
Ren thinks Ally is crazy, and tells her he's wasted a year chasing her when all along she's thought he was in love with another woman. He tells Ally that if she wants to leave, fine by him because "He's" now done.
Ally packs, and is ready to go, but she can't leave without telling Ren the reason she 'knows' that he's still in love with Ava is because he muttered Ava's name that first night they spent together. So she tells him that she fell in love with him that first night, and that he broke her heart when he said Ava's name.
The problem is, Ren had no idea he said Ava's name that night. He was thinking about Ava that night because of all the shit that was happening to her, and he did care for her, but he wasn't thinking about her that way, because he had met someone else.. Ally.
When Ally tells him what he said in his sleep, he now totally gets why she would think that he was in love with Ava, and understands why she would hold him at a distance all this time. But then he reminds her of the fact that even though she thought he was in love with another woman, she still slept with him, and that she did say she fell in love with him that first night.
They sort everything out, and finally confess to one another that they love each other, and that they're going to try and give their relationship a go.

.. The problem is now Ren wants Ally to stop this investigating shit, get a nice little job as a barista, and then have his babies. HA!

This is where 'their' story starts and gets really good! Ally being true to herself, even if it means giving up the man she loves in order to do what she knows is the right thing in her heart.
..and Ren learning to believe in, and accept "all" that is Ally. The same way she accepted Ren for who he is, who his people are, and where he comes from.

Of course NO "Rock Chick" book would be complete without someone being kidnapped (Ally), blown up (Ally's apartment), stun-gunned (Ally), or some undercover sting in order to get the 'bad guys' (Ally).

... now the break down

1. What I LOVED in this book was that out of all the Rock Chick's who were begged, and harassed to strip for Smithie... it was Ally who finally did it, and of course while she was working undercover. Righteous!

Perhaps one of my favorite parts in this book is after Ally strips for the first time at Smithie's club and she comes home to find Ren waiting up for her. He turns around and reaches something on the nightstand and turns on "Tush", the song she stripped to that night.

He goes on to say, "Baby, you take your clothes off right now, you do it to this song, for me. My guess, those four posts'll hold. If you break the bed, I don't give a fuck." ..."Christ, you were so fuckin' hot up there, I'm still hard." ... "I'm gettin' my woman puts her mind to something, everyone better watch their ass. Because whatever she's got a mind to do, she's gonna kick it's ass."

Yippee, Ren! Totally redeemed for accepting Ally, AND getting turned on when Ally goes out and 'kicks ass'!

2. The secondary story with Jane aka "Kristen Ashley". LOVED IT, and the reason 'why' she did it. "It's a gift," she said, her voice funny, deep with emotion. "Watching you all get close, witnessing all that happened making you closer, feeling that love. But it was another gift, maybe even a bigger one, precious, knowing that sharing it makes people I don't know laugh. It makes them happy. Some of them write to me. They tell me bad things are happening in their lives. But they read my book and it takes them away. It makes them smile. Laugh. Even if for moments, or better yet hours, they can forget the bad, be with us here at Fortnum's, and laugh." She tipped her head to the side. "That's beautiful. So how can it be wrong?"

I'd like to close my review by saying it was such an AWESOME pleasure to read this series (multiple times in my case). I first discovered Kristen Ashley's stories on Goodreads and my first book wasThe Gamble, where I was first introduced to "Max" and Ms. Ashley's male character's über-alpha-male-caveman ways, and also her AMAZING sense of humor (Nina).. and IMMEDIATELY fell in love with her writing! (and just thinking about this story makes me want to read it again... see what I mean? GOOD TIMES!)

THANK YOU FOR THAT MS. ASHLEY, and this quote is for you.

I look forward to reading her LA series with Mace Darius, because I know Darius' story is going to be killer (thanks for the little spoiler in the epilogue ♥)!

.. and Oh ya, READ THIS BOOK!

4 bittersweet, hugely sentimental, thank you and goodbye stars.......

You will read many amazing reviews on here that will tell you all about this final instalment of the Rock Chick Series. So I don't need to tell you about the wonderfully dramatic storyline, the engaging and on many occasions hilarious characters, the steamy, toe curling, erotic sex scenes, the HOT BADARSE alpha's, and in this particular book the equally BADARSE Ally.

No instead I decided in this review to tell you why I am and always will be a HUGE KA fan and why I have a lot to thank Kristen Ashley for......

When I was younger I read a huge amount, I was your typical book worm, always had my head glued in a book, always stalking the library shelves waiting for my next brilliant read.....but as I grew up from child to teenager and teenager to adult, life just seemed to get in the way. I read less and less and then over the years life decided, as it sometimes does, to throw a whole heap of shit and drama my way.....

Then one day I picked up my first ever KA book: ROCK CHICK.....I cant remember what led me to do it, I hadn't read a book in years, I just remember thinking how nice it would be to just sit down for ten whole minutes and read a few pages of a book, just be someone else for a while........and as corny as it sounds it was the ROCK CHICK series that led me back to my love of reading. It gave me my out, it gave me that quiet time we all need to curl up with a great story and, for a brief time, be somewhere or someone else.

This series was the beginning of me immersing myself back into the world of books, thus leading me to GR and a whole other world of friendship and books. And even though now my life is thankfully a world away from what it was, and I have since been blessed in many many ways (helped thank fully by my very own, real life Rock Chick and my very own special member of the hot bunch) ......I'll never forget how one day, picking up a book by a new author and introducing myself to the world of the ROCK CHICKS and the HOT BUNCH actually led me back to me....

So you see I have a lot to thank Kristen Ashley for......

Not just for the massive smile she puts on my face and the feel good vibe I get every time I turn the page of one of her many awesome stories.....

Not just for the times she made me laugh out loud or cry tears of joy.....

And not just for this amazing ending to a truly unforgettable series......

But mainly I am thankful for her reminder that.........

Audio reread June 2020

The first time I’ve reread this and it confirmed my view that it wasn’t as good as the others, which is a pity when Ren and Ally are such great characters. The subplot with ‘Kristen Ashley’ walking amongst them and writing about them didn’t improve with repetition. Not my favourite,

I'd held off reading this one for a while, knowing it was the last in this series. I kind of prefer living in a world where there's more Rock Chick books to read so I'm a bit bummed it's over, but the family of characters had got a bit silly by the end of this one.

This was Ally' s story. She's been a main character from the start and we know there was something happening between her and the lovely badass Ren and their romance didn't disappoint. The narrative goes back a whole year from the prologue so we get their first sex scene immediately then the build up to that later so, while it was a bit of a shame we missed some of the detail of their 'firsts' together, it did succeed in tying the narrative into what happened at the end of Breathe and the previous Rock Chick stories very well.

There's a few sub plots creating a sense of peril and giving Lee's chaps the chance to show off their skills, but Ally' s character was fantastic in this too. For once the female lead isn't flouncing off and putting herself in silly dangerous situations, but instead she's thinking like one of the guys. I loved her relationship with Ren, it felt like a proper partnership.

The only thing that really jarred with me was the whole sub plot around the books and 'Kristen Ashley' being a character writing the Rock Chick books about her friends, (under a pseudonym). For me, that kind of broke the fourth wall and pulled me out of the story. I think the story didn't need it and it would've been a better story without it.

That aside, this was an excellent conclusion to the series with all of the hot bits, funny bits and squishy belly moments you get from a KA.

Fab series. Recommended.

I had high, high expectations for this story. I felt like I waited forever for Ren and Ally's story. It didn't disappoint.

At the same time, it was more than Ren and Ally's story, this was the finale of the Rock Chick series, so we got a ton of other side stories that wrapped up all the lose ends, and any lingering questions that were still hanging. It was what I needed. I feel like, after seven books, I KNOW these characters, and I wanted every piece of information I could get about their lives.

I ADORED Ren and Ally. Without a doubt Ally has taken her place as my favorite rock chick. She proves to be a real bad-ass, and lives up to the nightingale name in this book. I know that there are going to be some who don't love Ren as much as the hot-bunch guys - and he is his own brand of alpha. But, I'd make the case that he was the perfect guy for Ally. Ren is a bad ass in his own way, but doesn't get in the way of Ally's need to follow her own dreams.

There are a few authors who I feel like I *know* just from reading their books, and Kristen Ashley tops that list. And while I love all her series, I *feel* her in the rock chick books more than any of her other books. This felt like pure KA. There were times where I felt like she was flat out setting her life's philosophy out for you with blinking lights, and I loved it.

I laughed, I got all choked up, I sat around with a goofy smile on my face... I loved every page

And OMG. We have GOT to have a Darius book. And a Liam book - and a Sniff and Roam books....

A must read for all Rock Chick fans.

4 Rock Chick Stars

"You’ve got your way, the way you are and the way you are with the ones you care about. And that tells me, a man gets in there, you give that to him, the children you give him, that man will be all kinds of lucky. And I’ve decided we’re gonna see if that man is me."

Well, Ava & Luke and Sadie & Hector still hold first place for my favorite Rock Chick couple, but I have to admit that Ally and Ren definitely came in at a very close second.

I can't say that this was my favorite book in the series, but I will tell you that it was a fantastic conclusion to the series.

So what was my favorite part of Rock Chick Revolution, you ask? I have a one word answer for that: REN.

The man made my happy place tingle the entire book. He was equal parts bad-ass alpha and sweet, without being obnoxiously overbearing or possessive. Now if I'm being honest here, the urge to lick a fictional character is really nothing new for me. (What? That's perfectly normal, OK!) Ren took it to a whole different level for me, and I found myself developing a very close and personal relationship with my Kindle while reading.

(What? That's perfectly normal, too! God! Stop judging me!)
But I digress.

My biggest issue with some of the Rock Chick heroines were their constant and consistent TSTL tendencies. So I am very happy to report that Ally didn't irritate me at all in this book. She was incredibly endearing. I loved how tough and tenacious she was, yet still had that emotional and soft-hearted center beneath the tough-girl shell.
I was a Rock Chick. I had a lot of friends. I had a lot of good times. The concept of “anything goes” was pretty literal for me. I didn’t have issues speaking my mind. And I didn’t have issues creating a drama if the situation deserved it. I also didn’t give a shit if someone
disagreed with the situation deserving it.
I was… me.
I wasn’t girlie.
I wasn’t romantic.
I didn’t have fantasies (except those that came while wielding a vibrator). Let’s just say the knight in shining armor concept did nothing for me.

Well Ally, a knight in shining armor may not do anything for you, but a hot-headed Italian sure did.

The first 20% of the book we get flashbacks to the relationship (or lack thereof) between Ren and Ally for the past year. Ally fell for Ren pretty quick, but had her hopes of a future with him shattered when Ren unknowingly did something that wounded her deeply. Unable to deny the chemistry between them, Ally insists that they stay on a casual hook-up basis. Which, c'mon Ally, we're talking about Ren here? Just casual hookups? Like friends with benefits? Really?

Of course Ren is having none-of that, and he definitely doesn't hold back his thoughts about the matter.
“You invited me in, Ally.” .
“Around the time you came when my mouth was between your legs on my stairs. Then again when you came when my cock was driving into you in my bed. Then again when you wrapped your mouth around my cock, also in my bed. And a-fuckin’-gain when you found it while riding my cock, also in my bed. And last, when you wrapped your sweet, hot, naked body around me and passed out in my bed.”

Ally is not exactly thrilled with Ren. She's had enough testosterone alpha-speak from her brothers and The Hot Bunch.
Okay, I’d had a variety of Rock Chick chinwags where the girls let it all hang out about their guys and how they communicated in Asshole, but I’d never experienced it personally. And Ren had just demonstrated he was fluent in Asshole. It must be said, I didn’t like it much.

Well Ally, you might not like it, but it certainly made my happy place tingle. So you'll be getting no complaints from this girl.

Ren was just delicious, and when it came to getting his way with Ally...well let's just say he had a FANTASTIC way of going about it.

Don't get me wrong, while Ren was a hot-headed, dirty-talkin, panty-melting hot; he also had an incredible sweet side to him. I loved the way he fought for Ally and to prove that they should be more than just casual. Nothing better than a man that can admit when he's caught.

You gave me a run for my money, and once I stopped finding it a pain in my ass and started enjoying it, I did nothing but. I enjoyed every fuckin’ second, Ally. And every fuckin’ second I’ve never doubted how I was feeling. And just to be clear, how I was feeling, every day through this game we’ve been playing, was that I was falling deeper in love with you."

There's a whole lot of action, and we get to check back with all the Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch. I can't say that I was so enthralled with this book that I couldn't put it down. It did take me much longer to finish than my usual reading speed, and I did find myself skimming through certain chapters. But I still really enjoyed it.

P.S.
The best part about KA books, are her epilogues, and this one definitely didn't disappoint.

P.P.S
Dear Ren,

So that'd be all the ramblings from me for now.
And I thank you!

Reviewed jointly with Liz

Becs: Well, Liz, I really enjoyed reading the final book in the Rock Chick series. To me it felt like a Rock Chick Hall of Fame as everyone who’s ever been in a Rock Chick book made an appearance of some sort. I loved it - it’s been a long time since the last Rock Chick release but every character was still as fresh and vivid in my mind as they were when I first read them.

Liz: You know I’m an emotional mess when I read a story with any amount of depth of feeling to it! I crave an emotional connection with my books, and Rock Chick Revolution so totally gave me that. I was all teary and sniffly at multiple points throughout the book because it was a goodbye, in a way, and, in typical Kristen Ashley fashion, she brought each of us, and the characters, full circle. I loved this story--hard--for that very reason!

Becs: Yes - one thing Kristen Ashley always does very well is give a lot of time to the deep emotional feelings of her characters and she never rushes this and I always appreciate it. We always get to hear their hopes, fears and uncertainties and experience them right along with her characters. Talking about characters - how did you feel about Ally?

Liz: I have to be honest. I wasn’t certain how I was going to respond to Ally when she was the focus of a book. Throughout the series, she wasn’t one of my favorite characters. But, at the end of Breathe, when she came to rescue Faye, I saw a glimpse of a different Ally that I really liked. I was thrilled when I continued to see that same Ally in Rock Chick Revolution!! Turns out, she became one of my very favorite Rock Chicks after all! She was kick-ass, but still...girly. And she wasn’t overly bitchy. You know? She was smart and capable and sexy and all woman, and I love to see a female character portrayed that way, without her being hard and too masculine.

Becs: I have to confess I’ve been looking forward to Ally’s story since the very first Rock Chick book. She’s always been this female version of all Kristen Ashley’s alpha heroes. She’s incredibly strong and self-assured and yet still a girlie-girl at heart who loves beautiful lingerie and great shoes – a girl after my own heart! I loved to see how this tough little cookie slowly started to soften up and let Ren into her heart.

Liz: Could we discuss Ren and his stunning Italian-American beauty, please?! Holy Tingly Parts and Smoking Panties, Batman!! Umm...so, yeah. He kinda did it for me, Becs. He was an amazing combination of macho and suave. Sometimes that works for me, and other times... Oh, but it so worked for me in RCR! I mean, you know I enjoy my tatted, pierced bad boys, and there wasn’t a single tat or piercing on him. Instead he wore well-tailored suits, crisp shirts, and cooked gourmet meals! Color me stunned, but...did I mention how that totally worked for me? Lord, by he was ALL man. I so loved that he and Ally talked things through. He fought his natural instincts to be okay with Ally’s dream job, and, even more, he supported her in ways I would have never imagined anyone in or affiliated with the Hot Bunch doing. Mmmm....now I need a moment to myself, please;) It’s my personal Ren Time...

Becs: OMG, Ren!! How much of a gorgeous Italian Stallion is that man? He’s just right mix of headstrong alpha-hero and exquisite tenderness. The way he loved Ally just about melted my heart and the concessions he had to make to his uber-protective and possessive nature just to let her forge ahead with her dreams really were a thing of beauty. He loved her so wholeheartedly, he’d do just about anything to be with her and that man has had the patience of a saint where she’s concerned!

Liz: I loved, loved, loved getting a real look at Darius Tucker, FINALLY! In fact, I wish he would have had his own book!! That’s my only regret. But, what we got was so amazing and emotional and beautiful. I’m a Darius fangirl, for sure after RCR! He and Ally were so cute together. I mean, he’s a total badass (YUM!), but she was like a sister to him, and their interaction was so awesome.

Becs: Yes, it was so good to get to know Darius a little better. I really enjoyed all the insights we got into the rest of the Rock Chicks and their Hot Bunch Dudes. We got to see weddings, pregnancies and enjoy all the previous couples living out their Happy Ever Afters together. I loved seeing these guys still being fiercely protective of their Rock Chicks. It just warms my heart.

Liz: I’m an epilogue connoisseur, you may or may not know. I long for a spectacular epilogue in a great book, and, sadly, I don’t often get them. BUT! Kristen Ashley is known for her epilogue magic touch, and, I must say, I think I grinned, laughed, teared up and sniffled the most over the epilogue in Rock Chick Revolution. It really was simply perfection. That full circle moment I always want? I got that and more. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Becs: Yes, I agree. Kristen Ashley is absolutely the Queen of the Epilogue and this one did not disappoint. It was a real feel-good, goofy-grin moment and the hint of a new series set in Los Angeles as a spin-off from the Rock Chicks means there’s more Kristen Ashley goodness in our future!

Liz: Becs, I’m already ready for more Kristen Ashley! I can’t ever seem to get enough of her storytelling or her characters!! I’m a high-maintenance, greedy fangirl, and there’s just no changing that!

So, in summary, a fantastic end to the Rock Chick series and a great tribute to all the previous heroes and heroines we’ve loved before with the promise of a new spin-off series to come.

Vintage Kristen Ashley!

Becs - 4 Stars

Liz - 4.5 Stars

"So, you know me. You got a problem with getting in a taxi with me, comin' to my place, letting me take your clothes off and then letting me do a shitload of other things to that beautiful body?"
"Actually, I would have a problem if you didn't do that."

HANDS DOWN! KA IS A QUEEN... NO THE QUEEN OF BADASSNESS!

 photo worshipping_zps255e0bd7.gif

The Queen of the Alphas... the Queen of the Rock Chicks...
THE ROCK CHICK!

I love everything about her writing.. I swear she could write.. a grocery list... on a piece of toilet paper and I would probably worship it! oh god.. If I ever got to meet the Queen one day?! I would prob hyperventilate and stumble and fuck up more than Jet did with Eddie! OH and pass the fuck out! Would be a dream come true!

She has the ability to make you laugh, cry, sob, giggle, snot cry, hiccup cry, then fan your vagina and have you reaching for B.O.B all in the same chapter... and her writing style? FUCKING AMAZING!
GAH! I LOVE HER!!! Ok the book....

Spoiler free... so I'm just going to say..

WHAT I LOVED

Acknowledgments and Authors Note - The bitch made me have happy tears before I ever read the damn book... but of course they were beautifully written...

Character Interaction - I mean YES we always have interaction in each book... But Ally seemed to have connected to THEM ALL!
We also get more of Tex, Lee, Hank, Duke, Darius, Daisy, Shirleen, Sniff, Roam, Smithie, Ren!

Trying to figure out who wrote the books! - I LOVED IT! The way KA was talking about Kristen Ashley.. and the way the characters were talking about themselves...their reactions to reading the books! Just...righteous

Sex Scenes Whoa MOMMA! That hot headed Italian likes it regularly and HAAWWTTT!!!
Also at a wedding... everyone trying to find a "spot" LMAO

Ren He's not a Hot Bunch guy... but the man in all Alpha!

The epilogue... THE FUCKING EPILOGUE! GAH!! BY the end of it I was a mess.. A happy but seriously sad mess! I mean it was BEEEAAUTIFUL! and I got my HEA... but it's saying goodbye to my Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch... and I LOVE those guys... This series is hands down my fav of anything in this genre.. I mean, I basically am one of the gang! Its my dream to own a Fortnum's... I listen to Rock Music LOUD! AT ALL TIMES, I drink Vanilla Latte's, Swear as much as one of the guys, have a jeans/boots/shoe/alcohol/concerts obsession... I just need my own Hot Guy and I could be part of the crew!

It just makes me sad that they are gone... but also so happy they all got HEA's and that I was able to take the ride for the 8 books...

OK

Rocking on...

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE... THAT MUCH...
Down time - This was more emotional - NOT emotional like Mace and Stella's book, just emotional like Ally's relationships with people, finding herself, falling in love etc and there wasn't as much action as I am accustomed too.
It kinda lulled for a bit... luckily was filled with sex = P

yep that's it... Just that!

So in conclusion...

I FUCKING LOVED IT! Ally and Ren were awesome and I so happy to finally get her book and have all my questions answered for EVERYTHING I have speculated throughout the books...
But after 8 books...

Luke Stark is still my number one man with Kai "Mace" Mason (still love that name soo much) and Hector Chavez a really close second!

Let's hope they pop up in a Colorado Mountain, or Dream Man or Burg one day!

OMG!!! LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!
WHAT A RIDE!!!!!! FUCKING RIGHTEOUS!!!!!!!!!!
 photo tumblr_mkp8xkbfaQ1r1uwgno1_500.gif

”I am a Rock Chick, in name and deed.” “That is to say, I worship at the shrine of Rock and Roll and I live the rock star life, doing what I want when I want how I want. When I’m not working as a bartender or backup barista, of course, and with a lot less money.”

Thank you Kristen Ashley for an absolutely fabulous finale to the Rock Chick series!!!!! These books have captured my heart and soul right from the beginning and ALL the way through. Each and every book, and each and every character so rich and full of heart, hotness and hilarity, I can scarcely choose a favorite.

Ally Nightingale…the almost forgotten sister of the incredibly HOT badass brothers Lee and Hank has finally gotten her chance in the spotlight… a place she’d rather not be, or at least she didn’t think she’d want to be. And she’s finally found her place in the world. But it did not come easy. Ally would find herself fighting everyone that loves her in order to pursue her dream.

And then there is Ren…*sigh* …Lorenzo Zano… the bossy, HOT-headed Italian badass, Ally’s new “fuck buddy” for the last YEAR!!! I was loving this guy from the very moment I heard his name…but each and every second I got to know him more, I fell HARDER and HARDER for this guy. HOLY FUCKING COW!!!!! I am in LOVE!!!!! Yes he’s bossy, and sometimes, hot-headed…HOT being the key word here, but also so fucking sweet, protective and honorable, a real class act this guy!!! And did I mention the suits?!!!!

 photo 2rqgepd.jpg

But above all, I loved these two together… so in love it was painful, and so incredibly hot for each other. PURE FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

”I was so in there.”

I think one of the things I liked best about this book was its absolute faithfulness to the Rock Chick dogma. In fact, it could have been called Rock Chick Revival. This story brought back all of the characters in all their awesomeness, making me laugh, cry and gnaw my nails down to nubs with suspense. And Ally….has easily slipped into the number one spot for me!!! In fact, she has completely personified the Rock Chick philosophy.

I didn't speak macho alpha, therefore could not communicate telepathically, via chin lifts or through actions to other macho alphas, so I felt it prudent to agree verbally. I did this by mumbling, Okeydokey."

Ally’s character was perfect. Coming from a family of three older brothers myself, me being the only girl, I could definitely relate to Ally’s situation, being a little more comfortable with the guys, than even her Rock Chick girl friends. And growing up in the badass shadows of her older brothers, the P.I., the cop, and her and Indy’s father alike, it was also not a surprise that she picked up a few of their habits and talents along the way.

Then, add to that a BFF like India Savage, and the girl had no chance at mundane. She was destined for awesome from the very beginning. I LOVED her character. I loved her personality; I loved her protectiveness, and her deep feelings for those she loved. And above all, I loved her confidence in herself, and her determination to live her dream.
 photo Unknown-1.jpeg

I was a little iffy though when I thought she would let Ren go… but then again she had no other way to convince him and her family that she was serious about her convictions. Some things cannot be compromised… and for that I admire her… though I don’t know I would have been strong enough to do it myself. In the end though, it all worked out for her. SO MUCH AWESOME!!!!

"Baby, you're gorgeous. The way you wear a dress is goddamned foreplay. The way you give me everything and nothing, making you a challenge only a real man would accept, is all kinds of hot. The way you give as good as you get in bed, totally unselfish at the same time phenomenally greedy...fuck... you're the best I've ever had, Ally. Bar none. And the way you love, stubborn, tough, unshakeable, is unbelievably fuckin' beautiful. And still you're a serious pain in my ass. But I found, not havin' you, I got off on the pain. I missed it. So I'm takin' it back and we'll see how it goes."

I loved how Lee’s boys all rallied for her, supporting her and her dreams, one by one standing by her, taking her back even when Lee wouldn’t. AND THEN, there was DAISY!!!! Facing off with Shirleen, and rallying all of the Rock Chicks, employing all of their special talents in ways that only they could provide. Daisy was awesome personified.

And I can’t end this review without mentioning Darius. What can I say, the special relationship they shared…yep more awesome. And I’m certain that we will hear more of his story… or I hope we will. He has overcome so much adversity, and that scene at the end…. MY HEART WAS BREAKING FOR HIM!!!!!!! I want more of his story. Maybe we’ll get it when he get’s to LA!!!!!

In the end…I loved every part of this story. An unbelievably awesome heroine, with her fuck-hot Italian fuck buddy boyfriend in all his awesome suits, then throw in her crazy awesome side-kicks and her funny Rock Chick girlfriends and their hot-bunch husbands, an explosion, a couple of lap dances, a couple of stoners, a gaggle of tweekers, a mafia boss and a fucked up stalker, what more could one ask for in a finale episode? Oh and who can forget that killer epilogue with miniature rock chick and hot-bunch toddlers running around!!!! PURE FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!
 photo tumblr_l4nrl2FSUS1qcwm77o1_500_thumb.jpg

This series will forever be in my all-time favorites!!!!! Thank you Kristen for sharing your Rock Chicks with us!!!! I have loved every single second of them!!!!!! And look forward to more… with Mace and Stella in LA!!!!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!

"Fuck yeah. I'm a goddamned, fuckin' rock chick."
