Lickey Hills Country Park

The Lickey Hills are a range of hills in Worcestershire to the south west of Birmingham. A park was first established here in 1888 when Rednal Hill was given to the city by the Birmingham Association for the Preservation of Open Spaces. It subsequently expanded to 524 acres with land from the Cadbury estate and was designated a country park in 1971. It became a popular day trip destination for Birmingham people in the inter war years using the tram service to Rednal. Today there is a visitor centre and the public can wander through a variety of habitats including deciduous woodland, conifer plantations, heathland and bog. The park is owned and managed by the City of Birmingham.
