Overhanging trees cut back on the banks of River Foulness
This section from Harswell Lane Harswell to Brouncey has been cleared of overhanging trees and the riverbed and banks cleaned back. Maintenance is the responsibility of the Ouse and Humber Drainage Board. The source of the River Foulness is just north of Shiptonthorpe, its length is 15.8 miles and it discharges into the Market Weighton canal thence to the River Humber. It may not be well known but it is a vital part of the drainage in this agricultural area. The water levels within the river, tributaries and canal are managed and controlled by the Environment agency.
