Inverness Station platform 7

The car park at Inverness actually spills into the platform areas. Waiting at the buffers is DMU 158711 on a ScotRail service to Kyle of Lochalsh.
Inverness railway station

There has been a station here since 1855, but the present buildings date from 1966-1968. It is a terminal station with a total of seven platforms on two sides of a triangle (one for trains to the far north and Kyle of Lochalsh, the other for trains to Aberdeen, central Scotland and a handful of through trains to London). The third side of the triangle is for freight bypassing the station.
