NS6576 : Site of the former railway station, Milton of CampsieThis was a station on the branch line from Kirkintilloch, linked to lenzie on the Glasgow - Edinburgh line. It went all the way from Kirkie to Aberfoyle via Strathblane, Killearn, near Drymen, Balfron Station etc. Some of the route is now used for the West Highland Way.
It was last used for coal deliveries to Lennoxtown and Lennox Castle Hospital in the 1950 s (?60 s).
There was a link at Birdston with the line from Kilsyth - Torrance - Maryhill in Glasgow.
The small circulatr access path seen at the bridge was formed in the 1990 s after the road bridge in Milton of Camsie was declared unsafe. A corrugated steel tunnel was formed and the the space between the bridge and tunnel was filled with concrete restoring the integrity of the road.
