SJ7796 : intu Trafford Centre Tram Stop
taken 5 years ago, near to Eccles, Salford, England

Metrolink’s extension to the Trafford Centre opened for business on Sunday 22nd March 2020. Unfortunately, this date coincided with the travel restrictions imposed by the UK Government to combat the 2020 coronavirus pandemic Link
and the trams initially ran from the Trafford Centre to Cornbrook rather than through the city centre and onto Crumpsall as originally planned.
The new Trafford Park line added a further 5.5km of track and six additional stops to the metrolink network (which was already the UK’s largest tram network) bringing the total to over 100km of track and 99 stops. The new line runs through Europe’s largest industrial estate, and the additional stops provide easy access to some of the region’s top retail and leisure destinations, including the Trafford Centre, Old Trafford stadium and Imperial War Museum North.
