Metrolink Extension Work on Trafford Wharf Road
Excavations in preparation for the Metrolink extension to the Trafford Centre.

The 5˝ km extension will run from the existing Pomona Metrolink stop, through Trafford Park, Europe’s largest trading estate, terminating at the Trafford Centre and will have six new tram stops (LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) route map).
Construction work began in late 2016 and services are expected to launch in 2020.

As well as the all the usual tramway infrastructure, such as tracks, stops, and equipment to hold the overhead lines that power the trams, major works will also take place to divert utility services, such as water, gas, electricity and telecommunications, away from the tram route.
