Many British parish churches carry plaques recording notable achievements by their bell-ringers, but Saffron Walden's are particularly numerous (and, situated in the base of the tower rather than in an elevated ringers' loft, easy to see). The Pitstow family were clearly mainstays of the practice over many years.
