A mallard J3370 : Mallard, Moreland's Meadow, Belfast and her duckling in the old canal between the towpath and Moreland’s Meadow. The duckling was capable of a fair speed and was often well beyond the mother.

Mallard ducks are common along the River Lagan between Stranmillis and Sprucefield and, although used to people, are not tame. This is a collection of photographs showing some of the birds at various places along the towpath.

An area of some 18 acres inside a meander of the River Lagan. It became an island when the canal was built on the western side. It includes an area of woodland. Accessible from the Lagan towpath.
