Inquisitive cattle on the salt marsh of The Wash
The cattle had been grazing on the sea bank and reluctantly moved onto the waterlogged salt marsh as I got closer to them. This area of the marsh north of Admiral's Farm, Ongar Hill has been grazed by cattle for many years. Cattle have a tendency to stop grazing and stare at humans in close proximity which can be a little daunting when you are alone and totally outnumbered.
But I wasn't alone - after I had taken this photo and gone back along the bank towards Ongar Hill I saw 2 figures, presumably wildfowlers, struggling over the salt marsh back to the coast (They are the 2 black dots on the horizon right of centre)
