Interior of Cottars House, Highland Township
This is the interior of the cottars house at the recreated highland township at the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore based on archeological & historical research of an actual township dating from the 1700's.Note features such as the peat fire in the centre of the floor. The low height of chairs & stools to keep the heads of those seated below the level of the peat smoke which tended to hang around the roof & 3 legged chairs & stools allowing for a steady seat on the uneven floor.
