      We are not interested in making cheap knock off spinners out of popsicle sticks, duct tape, PVC pipe, nuts and bolts. There’s nothing wrong with that, we’ve even done it but it’s just not our preference. If you read our first book, DIY Fidget Spinners, How to Make Fidget Spinner Toys at Home on Amazon at http://a.co/9nnimeN you know we love exotic hardwoods, we like solid metal bearings and hand-crafted buttons. We like a fidget spinner that looks good, spins fast and has some weight to it so it feels good in your hand. We feel this makes a beautiful spinner fidget toy worth holding on to. Most people that are making DIY fidget spinners focus on the body of the spinner. While important, there are other design and function aspects to consider.

      You know those round discs on each side of the spinner that you can hold on to when you spin the spinner? Those are called finger buttons or finger caps. If you’ve owned a spinner toy for any period of time, you’ve probably have lost or broken a button. Worse yet is when you lose a weight or secondary bearing, now what. You effectively turned your spinner into a wobbler. Granted, you have a cool wobbler but you really want a spinner. Now what do you do? Throw it out and buy a new one? Most likely, but in this book, I’m going to show you how you can use a variety of items commonly found at your local hardware store that can serve the place of the finger buttons or lost weights.

      The finger buttons got their name because some DIYer used two coat buttons and a dowel to make the spinner buttons. End caps came in when the people using 3D printers got into the game. End caps are just flat pieces of plastic that snap on to the rim of the inner race of the center ball bearing.
