- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nov 6, 2024 "Prisoner B-3087" is a compelling and deeply moving novel that offers a powerful glimpse into the horrors of the Holocaust. The book, written by Alan Gratz, is based on the true story of Jack Gruener, who endured unimaginable suffering during World War II.
What sets "Prisoner B-3087" apart is its ability to transport readers into the heart of the Holocaust through the eyes of its young protagonist, Yanek Gruener. Yanek's journey from a carefree boy to a survivor of multiple concentration camps is both harrowing and inspirational. Gratz's writing is vivid and evocative, making the reader feel every emotion, from fear and despair to hope and resilience.
The book serves as a stark reminder of the atrocities committed during that dark period in history, but it also celebrates the strength of the human spirit and the will to survive against all odds. Yanek's courage and determination to endure, even in the face of unspeakable cruelty, is nothing short of inspiring.
"Prisoner B-3087" is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the Holocaust and the indomitable human spirit. It's a haunting and unforgettable story that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nov 6, 2024 Right now I have a big thing for World War 2 books and this book was exactly what I love to read/listen to. At some points it was really sad while others you had no idea what was going on. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is either learning or interested in World War 2. It really gives you a feeling of what concentration camps were like. There where some more violent parts so I recommend that younger children don’t read this book but other then that it was a pretty good book.
