Joshua Bailey

Principal economist, North America and global

Background

Joshua is the principal economist for North America and global economics. As a senior member of EIU’s Global Forecasting team, he also leads the analysis of global economic trends, international trade, and the intersection of geopolitics and the economy. He brings his previous experience as a senior policy-maker at the centre of the UK government to inform his advice to clients. Based in New York, Joshua leads the EIU’s macroeconomic coverage of the US and North America and plays a key role in shaping the EIU’s global outlook.

Prior to the EIU, Joshua was a senior official in the UK government. He worked at HM Treasury and the National Security Council in the Cabinet Office, advising the Chancellor and Prime Minister on a range of economic policy and national security issues. He holds a master’s degree from Yale University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Durham.
