Chappell Roan admits she does not care about being a success and reveals the one job she is most scared to do

Chappell Roan revealed she does not care about being a success as she opened up about her rapid rise to superstardom again.

While reflecting on her year so far, the 26-year-old singer got candid and shared her reaction to how her 'entire life has changed' in such a short period of time.

Even though she feels she is still the same person she has been after years in the entertainment industry, she acknowledged that people do treat her differently since her music charted.

'In the past, honestly, eight weeks, my entire life has changed,' she told Bowen Yang as reflected on becoming an overnight star and her meteoric rise to fame for Interview Magazine in an article that was published on Monday.

During their interview — which comes after her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, hit number two on the charts almost a year since its release — she also opened up about the one job she is the most scared to do and finds 'legitimately so scary.'

'It's been really emotional because I'm not just singing pop music, it's automatically political because I'm gay...I appreciate advice,' she said to the Saturday Night Live star.

'I don't know anyone who's going through this, personally,' she continued. 'The biggest thing has been getting recognized, and just feeling not myself. And touring, it's all-consuming.'

The HOT TO GO! hitmaker, who was an opener for Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR and GUTS tours, added that it's 'crazy' that people in the music industry are paying attention to her and her opinions more ever since her songs started rising on the charts.

'I've never given a f*** about the charts or being on the radio, but it's so crazy how industry people are taking me more seriously than before,' she said. 'I'm like, "I've been doing this the whole time, b***h."'

She also noted that making music that is popular or tops the charts has never been her priority as it can be 'fleeting.'

'Like, my career doesn't mean anything more now that I have a charting album and song,' she said. 'If anything, I'm just like, "F*** you guys for not seeing what actually matters."

'A chart is so fleeting,' she continued. Everyone leaves the charts. I'm just like, "This is giving valedictorian."

'But everyone graduates,' she added. 'The valedictorian doesn't really matter, and that's kind of what I feel like right now. I'm like, "Cool. Maybe I'm valedictorian, but it's weird that we're graduating, and everyone's going to move, so…"'

She also credited her likability to remaining true to herself in every step of the way.

'My career has worked because I've done it my way, and I've not compromised morals and time,' she said.

'I have not succumbed to the pressure. Like, "B****! I'm not doing a brand deal if it doesn't feel right. I don't care how much you're paying me," she continued. 'That's why I can sleep at night.'

During the same interview, she also revealed the one job she is afraid of doing — even though she admitted that it was her original goal when moving to Hollywood.

When Yang asked if she has any intentions of dabbling in acting, she bluntly replied: 'I say this with peace, and love, and blessings. Actors are f***ing crazy.'

Yang, an actor himself, concurred even though Roan specified that she was not talking about him or every single actor.

'I don't know you, but I know that you're not the vibe I'm talking about,' she said. 'Like, I get so freaked out by film people. I've been asked in the past couple of weeks, like, "You want the lead in XYZ?" and I'm like, "No." 'I appreciate it, but literally, no,' she continued.

'I originally started doing music because I wanted to get my foot in the door for acting, and then I moved to Los Angeles, and I was like, "F*** that,"' she added.

She said she did not want to do acting anymore because it is 'legitimately so scary.'

'It is so out of my control,' she said, explaining her fears. 'I can put out music whenever I want. I don't have to wait for a casting director to be like, "It would be great if we cast you, and then we'll decide your schedule for the next three months."'

However, she said her doors aren't completely shut to acting so long as the right opportunity presented itself.

'I think it would have to be really specific and really silly,' she said about the role she would want to play. 'I would maybe do a cameo.'

She noted: 'I've been trained how to act, but it's the most stressful thing in the world to me. I would rather get arrested.'
