Charles Spencer recalls taking a shower with Colin Firth - and the actor even praised his 'fantastic buttocks'

Charles Spencer has revealed he once took a shower with Colin Firth - and the actor even said he had a 'fantastic bottom'.

The brother of Princess Diana, 60, was an extra in the 1984 film Another Country, filmed in Oxford and London, which starred Firth and Rupert Everett

During one scene, Firth and Spencer even took a shower together while filming.

Reminiscing on Instagram, Charles revealed he'd brought it up with the legendary actor almost 30 years later while promoting the King's Speech in 2011.

To his surprise, not only had Firth remembered him, but he also paid compliment to his buttocks.

Charles wrote: 'I bumped into Colin Firth - whose first film this also was - when he was promoting “The King’s Speech”, and said: “Colin, you won’t remember me - but we took a shower together in “Another Country”.

'“Of course I remember!”, he laughed: “You have fantastic buttocks!”

'“Had, I’m afraid”, I replied: “not have...”'

On Twitter, Charles added that the film had marked the 'start and end' of his acting career, though it was just the beginning of Firth's.

In Another Country, Rupert plays gay public schoolboy Guy Bennett and Colin was fellow schoolboy Tommy Judd, a Marxist.

The story is based on the life of Cambridge spy and double agent Guy Burgess.

It is based on the award-winning play by Julian Mitchell, and explores homosexuality in public schools in the 1930s.

It comes after reports that Prince Harry stopped at Althorp House and stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer during his trip to the UK last month.

The Duke of Sussex stayed at the estate after going to the funeral of Diana's brother-in-law Lord Robert Fellowes, according to People.

Despite Prince William also attended, the two brothers were reported not to have spoken to one another.

The Duke has remained close to Diana's family - and Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, also attended a service in May for the tenth anniversary of Harry's Invictus Games at St Paul's Cathedral in London.

MailOnline contacted representatives from Charles Spencer and the Duke of Sussex at the time.

In July, Charles and his wife Karen - who announced their 'immensely sad' divorce in June - shared separate moving tributes after the loss of their beloved family pets.

Princess Diana's brother, who lives on the Althorp Estate in Northampton, took to his Instagram on the weekend to reveal that his blonde Labrador Otis passed away.

Earl Spencer shared an image of the 12-year-old pup sitting on a carpet in the monochrome tiled hallway of his home.

He added that Otis was dubbed a 'total legend' by those at Althorp and that the estate would not feel the same without his presence.

He wrote: 'Farewell to Otis, our wonderful Labrador, who had to be put to sleep last night. He was nearly 13.

'Otis will now join his father, Karoo, and grandmother, Ella, in a beautiful spot in the Park at @althorphouse.

'Everyone at Althorp loved Otis - several people here have talked today of his having been a "total legend". The place won't be the same, without his wise, sweet, intelligent presence. He was extremely special.'

His wife Karen Spencer, who he has now separated from, also shared a heartbreaking update on their daughter's pony named Roo.

Earl Spencer told the Mail on Sunday when news of their divorce broke: 'It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.'

Earl Spencer and Karen Gordon, a Canadian philanthropist, married in June 2011 within the grounds of Althorp, where the late Princess Diana is buried.

The couple had met the previous year on a blind date at a restaurant in Los Angeles.

The shock announcement came amid the release of his book, A Very Private School, a harrowing memoir detailing the physical and sexual abuse during his childhood.
