Sophie Black
Editor-in-chief
Sophie Black is Crikey’s editor-in-chief. She has worked in senior management across cultural and media organisations, and has written for outlets such as The Guardian and The Monthly. As the Wheeler Centre’s head of publishing she oversaw projects such as the Walkley award-winning The Messenger podcast. She sits on the board of Melbourne University’s Centre for Advancing Journalism.

Gina Rushton is editor of Crikey. She has worked as an editor at Nine and reporter at Australian Associated Press, AAP FactCheck, The Australian and BuzzFeed News. She has written for The Guardian, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, The Monthly, The West Australian, Business Insider Australia and The Saturday Paper. She is also the author of The Most Important Job in the World.
Jack Callil
Deputy Editor
Jack Callil is deputy editor of Crikey. He is also copyeditor of Meanjin, and was previously digital editor of Australian Book Review. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly, and VICE, among others. He was a finalist for the 2020 Walkley–Pascall Prize for Arts Criticism, and was an emerging culture critic for The Age/Sydney Morning Herald.

Crystal Andrews is Crikey’s readers’ editor. She is also the founder of Zee Feed, a digital media outlet producing feminist commentary on news, social issues, digital and pop culture for young Australian women.

Rich James is Crikey’s Worm editor. He was previously news director at BuzzFeed Australia, executive news editor at the i paper, senior editor of EMEA at Storyful, and deputy news editor at Metro.

Bernard Keane is Crikey’s political editor. Before that he was Crikey’s Canberra press gallery correspondent, covering politics, national security and economics.
Charlie Lewis
Tips and Murmurs Editor
Charlie Lewis pens Crikey’s Tips and Murmurs column and also writes on industrial relations, politics and culture. He previously worked across government and unions and was a researcher on RN’s Daily Planet. He currently co-hosts Spin Cycle on Triple R radio.

Politics Reporter
Anton Nilsson is Crikey’s federal political reporter. He previously covered NSW Parliament for NCA NewsWire, and before that, worked for Sweden’s Expressen newspaper as well as other publications in Sweden, Australia and the United States.

Media reporter
Daanyal Saeed is Crikey’s media reporter. He was previously a sports reporter at news.com.au and for the Grafton Daily Examiner.

Cam Wilson is Crikey’s associate editor. He previously worked as a reporter at the ABC, BuzzFeed, Business Insider and Gizmodo. He primarily covers internet culture and tech in Australia.

Tom is Crikey’s production editor. He was previously after-hours editor at Junkee and weekend editor at Concrete Playground.
Zennie McLoughlin
Design Manager
Zennie McLoughin is Crikey’s design manager. She has 17 years of experience working in-house and freelance for a range of organisations, studios and clients. She has a master’s of design and a graduate diploma of graphic design from RMIT University.
