The Bank of America Chicago Marathon participant guide includes all the information participants need to have a great race weekend experience. The guide will serve as a step-by-step manual to assist participants during race week, from the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo to race morning in Grant Park and during the race itself. Inside, you will find schedules, policies and detailed information on the weekend’s events.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon App, Powered by Tata Consultancy Services is the perfect resource to prepare for the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Whether you’re running or spectating, the free mobile app includes everything you’ll need to be prepared for a great race week experience.

The 2024 official race app features unlimited live race day runner tracking, professional athlete profiles, live broadcast streaming, real-time weather, an interactive course map, participant bib share and more. Spectators can submit a digital cheer through the app for the chance for their message to be displayed on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon course as their participant goes by. Visit the “Cheer” page in the app to submit your message.

New in 2024! A donate button will appear for any participants you track that are fundraising through charities using the haku platform. Help runners reach their fundraising goal and donate through the Bank of America Chicago Marathon app! This year’s app also includes eleven major leaderboards that will allow users to find race leaders across all tracked categories, from the professional athlete field to the open field. Full results of the 2024 Bank of America will be available in the app in real time.

PACE TEAM

The Pace Team is comprised of marathon veterans who help others achieve their performance goals. The Pace Team will pace groups of runners according to the following finish times: 3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:15, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 4:50, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30 and 5:45. NBC 5 Chicago, Telemundo Chicago and TeleXitos will provide complete live TV coverage and live streaming of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in English and Spanish. The NBC 5 Chicago, Telemundo Chicago and TeleXitos live television broadcasts will air from 7 – 11 a.m. CT and the live stream will be available at nbcchicago.com and telemundochicago.com, on the NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago apps, and on the stations’ Roku and Apple TV channels, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. CT.

Tune in before the race to listen to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon preview shows featuring running experts and the Chicago Marathon Executive Race Director, Carey Pinkowski. The shows will air at 7 a.m. CT on Saturday, September 28 and Saturday, October 5. A post-race show will air at 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 19.

RACE DAY LACTATION SPACES

Private and semi-private lactation spaces are available to participants on race day. Participants interested in using the spaces will have access to a private or semi-private seating area (chair and table), a water source or a portable hand-washing station and a power source. Spaces will be available in the following locations:

  • Pre-race: Private and semi-private space at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan Avenue)
  • On-course: Private and semi-private tented facility on Laflin Street between Adams Street and Jackson Boulevard at Miles 15 and 16
  • Post-race: Private and semi-private tented facilities, with access to power and a sink, are provided at the

27th Mike Post-Race Party. Visit the information tent to request access.

Participants interested in using the pre-race space at the Hilton Chicago are asked to email office@chicagomarathon.com for instructions on how to access the space.

Staff will be onsite at each location to assist those interested in using the space(s) on a first-come, first- served basis.

Please note, the event will not store or transport equipment on-course or at the Post-Race Party.

LOST AND FOUND

Lost and found items will be collected throughout race weekend at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and in Grant Park on race day. If you are looking for an item that was lost, please go to the nearest information tent for more information or visit chicagomarathon.com/lostandfound to confirm if your item was turned into the event lost and found. Following the event, items can be reclaimed at the Hilton Chicago Grand Tradition Room (enter through the main entrance) from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, October 14. Any items unclaimed by Friday, November 1 will no longer be available.


27TH MILE POST-RACE PARTY

Celebrate your accomplishment at the 27th Mile Post-Race Party in Butler Field, near the start line at Columbus Drive and Jackson Drive. The outdoor celebration will feature music from a Chicago-based DJ and food and beverages available for purchase. Participants aged 21 and over (photo ID required) can redeem the tear-off portion of their bib number for one Goose Island 312, Goose Island Hazy Beer Hug or Michelob ULTRA Superior Light Beer.

The 27th Mile Post-Race Party is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beer tickets will be for sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and can be redeemed until 3:30 p.m.


GOOSE ISLAND BEER CO. POST-RACE CELEBRATIONS

After the 27th Mile Post-Race Party, continue the celebration at one of the five Goose Island Post-Race Participant Celebrations throughout the city. Be one of the first three hundred and twelve runners to arrive wearing a 2024 finisher medal, at any of the five locations, and the first 312 Urban Wheat Ale is on the house!

This year’s Goose Island post-race participant celebrations will take place at:

  • Goose Island Salt Shed Pub (1221 W. Blackhawk St., Chicago, IL 60614)

PRE-RACE PASTA DINNERS

ASL INTERPRETATION SERVICES

Sign language interpreters will be available race weekend to assist deaf and hard of hearing participants who may need to utilize their service. Interpreters will be available at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo on Thursday, October 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, October 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The interpreter will be located in the Participant Services area of the Expo.

On race day, interpreters will be at designated locations within Grant Park. Please email office@chicagomarathon.com for more information.


2024 OFFICIAL PROGRAM

The 2024 program is now available online. This year’s program includes a reflection on Kelvin Kiptum’s legacy, participant spotlights, a guide to Chicago and much more!


2024 FINISHER REFRESHMENTS

This year’s official Bank of America Chicago Marathon beer is 312 Electric. It’s the classic 312 you know and love with a jolt of watermelon and sea salt. Brewed in collaboration with the Chicago Marathon. 312 Electric is only available for finishers aged 21 and over and will only be distributed within the Runner Refreshment area beyond the finish line.

Finishers will also receive Culligan water in a refillable aluminum bottle, Stan’s Donuts, Chiquita Bananas, Michigan Apples, Maurten Solid bars and a chocolate MUSCLE MILK GENUINE protein shake at the finish line.
