Botany360 is a community event calendar that highlights events happening during the 360 days outside of the Botany Conferences. The goal of this program is to connect the plant science community throughout the year with professional development, discussion sessions, and networking and social opportunities. "Beyond phylogenomics: Innovative applications of target capture data"
Proposal Submission Deadline: November 30, 2025
Applications in Plant Sciences (APPS) is accepting proposals for a special issue: “Beyond phylogenomics: Innovative applications of target capture data.” Target-enrichment sequencing has rapidly become one of the most widely used approaches in phylogenomic studies due to its cost efficiency, scalability, and adaptability across both large and small plant groups. In particular, it has been used to access nuclear genomic information from herbarium specimens. While these data are most often used to reconstruct evolutionary relationships, their potential reaches beyond traditional phylogenomic analyses: from population genomics and molecular ecology to functional genomic studies and developmental biology. This special issue aims to highlight research that pushes the boundaries of how target-enrichment data are analyzed and interpreted, with the goal of inspiring cross-disciplinary use and maximizing the scientific value of these datasets.
