Over the past 23 years, the Horizons Boston Marathon team has raised over $2 million in critical funding to help support Horizon’s mission which is providing high-quality programming to improve the lives of children and families impacted by the experience of homelessness. This mission is accomplished through three major programs:
- Early Education Program - Our high-quality early education center in Boston provides individualized trauma-informed curriculum, needed ancillary services, and enrichment activities, along with two meals and snacks each day, to children ages 2 months through 5 years. Our early education program is nationally accredited and ranks in the top 5% of early education centers in the state as rated by the Department of Early Education and Care.
- Family Partnerships Program - Highly trained staff help parents of the children enrolled in the early education center to set and achieve goals, build their self-confidence, and ultimately leave the shelter system. Family Advocates serve as mentors and coaches, providing support and helping the parents to access whatever programs and services they need to accomplish their goals.
- Playspace Program - Intentionally designed Playspaces in shelters across the state engage children in developmental play and learning that is vital to all young children. We ensure that the children living in the shelter have a safe, fun place to play, filled with developmentally appropriate books, toys, and arts and crafts materials to help them learn and enjoy childhood despite their circumstances.
With your funding Horizons can continue their work in improving the lives of children and families who are experiencing homelessness.
