This cross-sectional study seeks to compare levels of emotional resonance in Arabic and English and identify the effects of sociobiographical factors, the history of English language learning and the current use of English on the development of emotional resonance of English among 141 bi-and multilingual Arab pupils and students in Saudi Arabia. Arabic was found to have a significantly stronger emotional resonance than English. Higher scores on emotional resonance in English were found among female participants, participants who had attended English-speaking primary (but not secondary schools), and participants who were using English intensely and frequently at the time of the data collection. We argue that all these factors contribute directly and indirectly to higher proficiency and increased embodiment of English.

Sociological surveys among Uzbekistani Koreans

Social Networking Sites (SNS) plays vital in most of our lives today. It increases the communication and makes people socially active. Various surveys states that the average daily usage of adult on SNSs is about two to four hours. The SNSs have both positive and negative impact in our life. Even though, SNSs increases the communication, reduces the real world relations. This study attempts to find the extent of middle aged people's exposure to SNSs and interactions on it. This descriptive survey method also attempted to the impact of SNSs on interpersonal relationships among middle aged people. A sample of 390 middle aged people was selected by using simple random sampling techniques from Chennai district of Tamil Nadu. The data were collected by the self-made and validated tools which include 10 simple statements. The statements are related to the various aspects of SNSs. Items like 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8 consists of responses like 'yes' or 'no', whereas, the other items consists of multiple responses. Percentage analysis was used in this study to analysis the data. The result of the study reveals that middle aged people concentrate more on virtual ties than the real emotional hands.

تحفزّنا حرب الإبادة الجماعية الاستعمارية "الإسرائيلية" الحالية على قطاع غزة معرفيًا لإعادة التفكير بالحرب كمتلازمة حياتية لمجتمعاتنا، وما تفضيه هذه الحرب من انفعالات وانطباعات جمعية تؤثر فينا وتشغل تفكيرنا وإنتاجاتنا المعرفية. وتقتضي منا إعادة الاعتبار لدراسات الحرب من منظور سوسيولوجي على مستوى العالم وفي منطقتنا العربية والتي تعدّ الحروب سمة من سمات عيشها منذ أكثر من قرن. توفر المساهمات السوسيولوجية الكلاسيكية أطرًا تحليلية مناسبة عن مفهمة الحرب. كثيرة هي التأويلات السوسيولوجية الممكنة لقراءة حرب الإبادة الحالية: أولها، تحليل ابن خلدون وتنظيره عن الحرب في كتابه المقدمة وتحديدًا في الفصل المعنون بـ "في الحروب ومذاهب الأمم في ترتيبها" من أجل فهم دواعي الحروب، واستخطاطياتها، وآليات انتصارها. ارتكازًا على هذه المقاربة الخلدونية المستندة على أربعة عناصر (فكرة الانتقام؛ فرض السيطرة والنفوذ؛ العدوان؛ استخدام الذرائع)، بالنظر إلى هذه المحددات السابقة يمكن قراءة حرب الإبادة الحالية: أولًا، "فكرة الانتقام" تلك التي يعبَّر عنها على ألسنة قادة الآلة الاستعمارية "الإسرائيلية" وفي الشوارع وفي وسائل الإعلام وسيارات سكان المستعمرة؛ ثانيًا، فرض السيطرة وتوسيع النفوذ استكمالًا للنكبة المستمرة منذ 1948؛ وثالثًا، العدوان وما يجسده في السياق الحالي؛ ورابعًا، اتخاذ الدين كذريعة دوغماتية وأداة من أدوات البروباغاندا. ثاني التأويلات، مقاربة الحرب كظاهرة اجتماعية تضع الحدود لأهم المنعطفات الكبرى للأحداث بمنطق غاستون بوتول (Bouthoul, 1961: 15-21)، والتي بحسبه تؤدي الحروب أدوارًا مركزية في التحولات الاجتماعية الكبرى، ونعتقد أن حرب الإبادة الجارية الآن تفعل بجدارة وتؤسس لتحولات كبرى في مجتمعاتنا العربية وفي العالم. ثالثها، دراسة العنف المنظم الذي تمثله الحرب من منظور سوسيولوجي وعلى العكس من مقاربات كايلوا (Caillois, 1958: 43) ورؤيته عن "الحرب كلعبة" والتي وفقًا لمنطقه تخلق تخيّلًا وهميًا مصحوبًا بوعي محدد بالواقع الثانوي أو اللاواقع الصريح في ما يتعلق بالحياة اليومية؛ يمكن الارتكاز على دراسة الحرب بوصفها صراعًا بمنطق جورج سيميل (Simmel, 1995: 19) كونها باعثة لأهمية اجتماعية كبرى تعمل على تبديل المجتمعات؛ وأهمية تشديده على دور الصراع نفسه في تشكيل الجماعات. رابعها، المقاربات المرتبطة بسوسيولوجيا الفعل في الحرب نفسها أي بدراسة القتال نفسه وما يسميه مارسيل موس تقنيات الجسد (Mauss, 1999: 364). خامسها، قراءة الطبيعة المتغيرة للحروب.

Violence is associated with a transgression that violates the victim's intimate protective space and invades it. This intrusion can become part of the self, pursuing it or even usurping it. This dynamic is examined on the basis of two films.The feature film Je verrai toujours vos visages (2023) by Jeanne Herry deals with the efforts of the Justice restaurative established in France in 2014 to allow victims and perpetrators a mutual, intersubjective encounter. The feature film shows the opportunities that can arise through the creation of a social framework in which at least moments of experiencing responsiveness are possible. The animated film La casa lobo (2018) by Joaquín Cociña and Cristóbal León, on the other hand, uses an unusual animation technique to give an idea of the dynamics of the inner processes through which the attempts of victims of psychological abuse to create their own world of objects are repeatedly caught up by the introject of the perpetrator. The Chilean film is based on the events in the Colonia Dignidad founded by the German migrant Paul Schäfer in southern Chile in 1961.
