A Dictionary of Similes: from Phrasemes to Tropes

This book is meant to cover the most important aspects of English similes, treated as multi-faceted comparison patterns. I chose the form of a dictionary in order to smoothly glide from phrasemes to tropes in studying similes, as the material I compiled was so vast that it definitely needed the structural backbone which a lexicographic study can provide. However, every set of dictionary entries is introduced through some theoretical chapters which outline the main characteristics of each type of simile.
