ABSTRACT. Automated technologies constitute a myth of the improvement of the medical and ancillary medical activity to the service of the patient. This myth finds its origins in the belief of the supremacy of the technical capital on the personal element. From research-interventions in several hospitals, we highlight the importance of the hidden costs related to the inadequacy between the technological structures and the human behaviors, and the conditions necessary to ensure an efficiency and an effectiveness of the use of technologies of medical information management, such as for example the patient file. We thus show the need for an incorporeal investment combined with a technological investment to obtain a return on investment and a social acceptability.
