The extra-adrenal paraganglioma is a neoplasm originating in regional structures, uncommon in paediatrics. We report on a case of a 13-year-old patient who began with severe arterial hypertension, tachycardia, dilated cardiomyopathy and elevated levels of catecholamines in the blood and urine. The presence of a retrovesical pelvic mass in contact with the right vaginal dome was determined by imaging studies. A diagnosis of malignant extra-adrenal pelvic paraganglioma with lymph node metastases was reached through biopsy and the surgical resection of subsequent local recurrences. Paragangliomas are usually located in the paravertebral zones from the base of the skull to the retroperitoneum and are benign in 90% of cases. This kind of neoplasia is uncommon in paediatrics, especially those located in the pelvis. In cases of masses of a gynaecological origin, a differential diagnosis should be considered, and a histological and immunohistochemical study is essential in certifying the di...

Paraganglioma of the urinary bladder is a rare tumour of the urinary bladder causing palpitation, headache, paroxysmal hypertension, tachycardia, blurring of vision and haematuria. Patients may present with these exaggerated symptoms during or just after micturition. We present a case of a 15-year-old girl who presented to us with accelerated hypertension, headache, palpitation and blurring of vision. On the basis of a positive family history, laboratory investigations and imaging studies, she was diagnosed to have an extra-adrenal paraganglioma. Complete enucleation of the tumour with preservation of the bladder was done. This case is reported because of the rarity of the disease in urology.

Original Research Article Introduction: Catecholamine producing tumours are termed as “pheochromocytomas” in the adrenal medulla and “paragangliomas” in an extra-adrenal location. Presenting features are mostly explained by catecholamine production. The diagnosis is based on detection of mass lesion coupled with biochemical and radiological correlation. Materials & Methods: The present study is a retrospective and prospective study done for a period of seven years. All the detailed clinical history and all relevant investigations were noted. Along with clinical details, radiological and histopthological findings were also considered. Results: A total of 70 cases (34-adrenal and 36 extra-adrenal) were included in the study. In 34 pheochromocytomas, the age range was 8-60 years with 16cases (45.45 %) of males and 18 females (54.54 %). Familial association was seen in 2(6.06%) casesone each of MEN I and IIB; Rest all were sporadic (93.94%). The most common presenting feature was headac...

Extra-adrenal paraganglioma: presentation in three uncommon locations2009 •
Extra-adrenal paragangliomata are uncommon entities. They can be classified into four basic groups according to their anatomical sites, i.e. branchiomeric, intravagal, aorticosympathetic and visceral autonomic. Similar tumours may arise in sites away from the usual distribution of the sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia, e.g. orbit, nose, small intestine and even in the pancreas. We report three instructive cases of extra-adrenal paraganglioma which were found in unusual sites such as urinary bladder, thyroid gland and on the wall of the inferior vena cava.

This paper discusses the finds of the parts of attire of the East Germanic Danube tradition from the Great Migration (Hunnic and Post-Hunnic) Period, originating from the Asiatic Bosporos (Taman’ Peninsula). There are mainly brooches and buckles, which formed the female costume of the Danube Germans. The finds from the Hunnic Period (late fourth and the first half end of the fifth century) belong to the prestigious “princely” fashion, which became widespread in the Barbaricum. Their appearance in the Northern Black Sea Area possibly reflected both personal fates of their owners and the migrations of groups of the Germans from the Danube. It appears unlikely that the local Greek population of the Bosporos adopted this fashion for there was no reliable case of the kind documented by the finds in the territory of the Roman Empire. However, the presence of prestigious East Germanic costume in a grave in Phanagoria possibly testifies to the integration of the representatives of the Germanic elites into the Bosporans. In the Post- Hunnic Period (mid-fifth to the second third of the sixth century), the finds of the parts of attire of the “middle class” of the Danube Germans occurred in the Taman’. Probably, the main bulk of these artefacts came to the Cimmerian Bosporos in result of Justinian’s military campaign against the Huns (527/528 or 533/534) with the participation of the Goths from the Balkans and the Danube. The forcible deportation of the captivated Italian Ostrogoths and Gepids is also possible.
Analytic semantics got its start when Frege, initially in Begriffschrift and then "Uber Sinn und Bedeutung," grew puzzled about differences in cognitive content between sentences that in some good sense "say the same"-sentences attributing the same properties to the same objects, or placing those objects in the same relation. He was particularly impressed by claims like
